2519 Tasting Notes
The first sip of this tea reminded me of American Tea Room sarsaparilla rooibos, which I absolutely hated. However, once it cooled down, the taste shifted for me. Now the flavor reminds me of a snickerdoodle cookie. It’s pretty tasty! I have only a sample from Cameron B, but I could see myself drinking this again.
I was so sad when I finished my tin of this tea a few weeks ago…so I bought eight more ounces, and now all is right in the world (: I add a bunch of sugar, so it’s quite sweet. I really didn’t expect to love this tea so much, but somehow the lemongrass truly does evoke a vanilla ice cream flavor. It’s not quite there, maybe more like a frozen yogurt or a milk candy. So light and tasty though. Love this.
When I tried this hot, it had an underlying flavor that I didn’t enjoy. Maybe it was whatever flavor they put in there to evoke alcohol. Once it cooled, however, it was quite nice. I was drinking it at the same time as blackberry blizzard, and their flavors are kind of similar. Next time I make this one, I’ll add some mint to it because I love mint and fruit together, and I would’ve loved to see a mint flavor in this. As it is, it’s a decent fruit blend at room temperature. Similar to other teas of the same brand.
Hmm this one smells and tastes a lot like their raspberry cream pie flavor. You definitely get the sense of berry flavoring, but without the sourness that some other brands bring. Very light and sweet. They’re definitely good at making this type of blend if this is the sort of thing you want. I like it, but as with most of their blends, likely wouldn’t repurchase.
I should probably also mention that this resteeps into a very nice cold brew. I try to resteep almost every tea I make. Usually regular steeps of blacks, oolongs, and red rooibos, cold brews of everything else…it’s not an exact science. The results are often disappointing, but I’m happy to report that this was great.
This tea is so nice to have a pitcher of in the fridge. It’s so sweet and flavorful. I was obsessed with Teavana’s weight to go flavor, so my main use for wild strawberry is as the base for recreating that. I use two teaspoons of this and one teaspoon of Adagio mint, and it tastes pretty close! If a tea advertises fruit with mint together, I’ll just buy it. I love the combination. But this tea holds up on its own too. I just finished what I have, and I’ll probably buy a pound the next time I make an Adagio order. That’s how much I like this tea.
You will never, ever see me use the term “mouthfeel”…but if I were to use such a term, I’d say this tea has a nice one. It’s so light and fruity and pleasant to drink. I find it best at room temperature. I think I still prefer green rooibos key west, but I’ll have to buy some more of that and compare head to head. I’m glad I have three ounces of this.
