Nutty Almond Cream

I am spending my evening with a murder mystery (this particular book is called Death by Darjeeling, and I confess I picked it up because its set in a tea shop), and I needed a cup of tea to go along with it. Possibly several, quite frankly.
This is a great “I’m not paying attention” tea. I can steeping for an unspecified time, and its fine. I can be absorbed in the story and it does not demand a lot of attention. Its very good for that.

Herbal TTB Reminds me a lot of a chocolate breakfast cereal!

Hmm. This herbal is really similar to DavidsTea’s Forever Nuts. I haven’t had Forever Nuts in a long time, but I feel Nutty Almond Cream is a bit more creamy. Bit of tart apple flavor too and kind of watery. Not bad, but I don’t like the wateryness. Maybe I need to play with the steeping times.

Herbal Traveling Tea Box

Out of the whole box, this is the tea that jumped out at me the most. Yes! I want this one. I’m not even entirely sure why.. I really do like almonds and cream…but with so many other marvelous teas, why this one? I forced myself to wait a bit try this one as much as I yearned to reach for it earlier in my tasting bonanza. Luckily, it didn’t let me down. It’s delicious and almondy. I’m not getting too much of a creamy flavor, but this tea is so smooth, it doesn’t make too much of a difference. Yum. It kind of reminds me of Cheerios… hahaha, this is the second tea to evokes images of Cheerios in my brain. All that I need is the milk oolong from Teavivre and this tea, and it would be just like Cheerios and milk. Also, I’m enjoying the slight sweet apple note near the end of the sip. mm. It really is breakfast!

I can’t believe I waited this long to try this tea. It called to me from the first time I looked in the box. Unfortunately I messed it up by putting in too much honey, but what I could taste around the honey was amazing. It smells exactly like candied nuts from the mall or a fair. And it brews kinda pinkish which I was surprised about. I am really excited to try this one again!

I was fortunate enough to snag a 4 oz tin of this blend by Tiesta for dirt, dirt cheap yesterday at my local grocery store. I’ve been wanting to try it for a long time, but have been unwilling to make the $9 commitment, owing to the fact that there is not actually any tea in this tisane. However, for $2.25, I was much more willing to take the chance on it. Plus, it got rave reviews on here, so how bad could it be?

Dry, it smells heavenly, like baked apple pie. After I steeped it, it tasted like hot water with a hint of cinnamon in the finish. I used a Keurig to heat my water, and I think that was the problem. Keurigs do not produce boiling water; my cup was probably somewhere between 180 and 190 ° F. Too low for this blend. I think the dry tisane needs to be “cooked” in order to get the dried apple, cinnamon, and almond to release more flavor.

Lots of potential here. Just needs to be experimented with a little more to get it just right. For that reason, I am going to hold off on rating it for now.

I made this as a dessert tea tonight and was really impressed by the flavor. Unsweetened, this was very good. The scent is excellent and I felt like I was in a bakery when brewing this tea.

I added a little rock sugar, maybe a tsp or so, and then the flavors really came alive. This tasted very much like a cinnamon bun, but with almondy overtones.

I used 208 degree water for about 6 minutes. The tea is a light reddish pink color. Very pretty, and very delicious!

I love, love, love this tea. It has a wonderful nuttiness that is missing in some of the other nut teas I’ve had lately (Teavana, Teavana,Teavana). Although it has cinnamon, it doesn’t overwhelm the nut flavor. There is a creaminess that mellows out the cinnamon. This a great cuppa and is giving me a nice contented, relaxing evening :)

My local grocery store is finally carrying some loose leaf tea.. Yay!

Last month I noticed they were clearancing out a bunch of the Lipton pyramid blends. I was hoping that meant they were making space for something loose leaf… You might imagine my excitement when I found I they had a few Tiesta Tea blends when I went back a few weeks later looking to see what they had put in their place. The Tiesta blends are on the top shelf and you have to look for them to find them, but hey, at least we have something now.

I grabbed this one to try first. On my Birthday trip to Teavana I got a hot cup of their Caramel Almond Amaretti. For some reason, I imagined this one to be a similar blend. I was right.. It’s similar.

Tastes of creamy sweet almond nuttiness, with a bit of cinnamon. I also got a bit of tartness with this blend I wish wasn’t there, but disappears a bit as it cools. Makes a pretty pink cup, but quite the sediment slipped through my filter making it less pretty.

I think I like Teavanas version a bit more as it was more like the roasted candied nuts you smell in the mall, w/o the tart… but I’m also sure she overleafed and over sugared my cup making the blends not entirely comparable.

This is still an enjoyable cup, if I am patient enough to let it cool some, & I’m so happy to be able to grab it locally.

This would be so good without the hibiscus! It smells and brews up like delicious cinnamon apple crumble but the addition of hibiscus adds a strong tartness that I’m simply not a fan of. It ends up making the tea taste soured or bad. Also, mine has a strange chemical twinge to it. Not sure if it’s simply gotten old or if the flavors aren’t jiving well.
