Chocolate Bananas Foster

This is my first dessert tea purchase. I had just had a slice of pizza at the mall and was craving something to cleanse the garlic out of my mouth.. like a dessert. I ventured over to Teavana and looked around and the sales person showed me the new teas. I was intrigued by the chocolate tea – something I would normally not be interested in.. but I wanted dessert!

So, I had her make me a glass (she put 2 tsp of rock sugar in it) and took it back to my office. Yum! Now granted, I have nothing to compare this to but my first glass was great. I did not buy any loose but will go back and get some possibly next week. I really think this tea could keep my hands out of the cookie jar after dinner! :)

This one is alright, its a little better than david’s banana dream pie! all in all, not a bad tea.

This tastes a lot like Banana Dream Pie from DT… I think comparing the two I would have to give more points to the Teavana’s version. For one, it is a herbal tea so it wins a point there. I am always looking for something I can have at night. I also love how the dried leaves look, with nice big chucks of banana and chocolate. Of course the big chucks means that it is heavier, which in the end you don’t get much tea for the 50 grams.

As the name implies , it is a perfect combination of banana and chocolate. A really nice night time treat.

This tea reminds me a lot of copabanana, but with chocolate in it, though it’s not as creamy as I thought it would be or I would like it to be. It’s really sweet but that’s a good thing to me, don’t have to add as much agave which I recently read is really bad for your liver:( Might have to switch back to stevia soon, not looking forward to that. I really like this tea and can see myself buying it again, I’m always on the hunt for a good herbal.

I got this one quite awhile ago from hapatite and am embarrassed that it’s taken me this long to get around to drinking it! I think it was anlina’s recent review that jogged my memory and made me make a note to try it asap, plus this year I’ve been making an effort to go through older teas on a regular basis. So, the tea: dry leaf aroma was barely there, maybe a slight sweet scent, so light I couldn’t really place it. Brewed aroma definitely had a chocolate scent, accompanied by something else…musty, maybe? As others have mentioned, it’s really light. Really, really light. Sometimes you want that, especially with an herbal, but with flavors like chocolate and banana, I want something far richer. I should really stick to black teas for dessert flavors. It definitely was sweet, as in it tastes like there is sweetener in there, which is fine for me as I love sweetness. No banana at all for me. So strange as other people had the opposite happen: definite banana note, but no chocolate. Overall, although nice, it’s not what I’m after today. Maybe in the warmer weather, or maybe iced. It’s OK, not great.

I’ve had this one in my cupboard for a while, and I remembered it tasting a bit weak, so I decided to make a latte. I used 2tsp of leaf, steeped for probably more than 10min, in about 10oz of milk and water.

In the bag this smelled pretty good, but steeped all I smell is tart apple, and that’s the dominant flavour too. There’s maybe a whisper of chocolate and banana at the start of the sip, but then apple apple apple. Why is apple the first ingredient and primary flavour?!?

I’ll finish my latte, since the flavour is so mild, it’s mostly like sweet milk with a hint of fruit, but what a disappointment this one is.

Oi. I bought this tea back when Teavana had their 50% off and free shipping sale, so 3.99 for 50g of tea seemed like a pretty good deal. This tea.. isn’t bad. I steeped it for a good 15 minutes and it seemed like a good time because I think anything less and I wouldn’t have gotten much flavour at all. MAN this tea is sweet. I’m not really a fan of chocolate teas – I haven’t found one yet that suits me, and it isn’t even that prominent.
This tea is really confusing me, hahaha I don’t know how to explain it.
Anyways, I made it into a latte after and the milk kind of cuts the sweetness so I definitely prefer it this way. Yeah – weird tea, this one.

This is one of my last few samples from Ost. I left it steeping for quite a while because I was working on a project. It definitely had some good chocolate-banana flavor going by that time. I was a little disappointed not to get the “foster” part of this. As a chocolate banana tea, it’s good. I’ve got quite a few banana teas at the moment, so I probably won’t buy any of this. But, it would be worth buying some after I run out of others later.

Taken with milk. I thought maybe that’d push this one to be more flavourful, especially since I really over leafed this mug to use up the rest of the sample from 221Tea but somehow the opposite affect was acheived.

Instead this came off as lukewarm, slightly oily milk with a bit of extra sweetness. Really, really mediocre (at best). But at least it’s done now, right?

Right. And I have better banana teas anyway.

At first when I tried this tea, I thought… “this is nice but needs some sugar.” So, I added a 1/2 tsp of sugar. Then when I drank it I thought it was too sweet, like sweet water.

So, I brewed another cup and left out the sugar this time. After several sips I realized it did not need any sugar at all. However, it still just tasted like sweet water to me. Couldn’t finish the cup.

Sorry, not a fan :(
