From DAVIDsTEA

it takes the cake
You know what never fails to remind us of fall? A carrot cupcake. And we’re not the only ones who think so. Thanks to their natural sugar content, carrots have been used to sweeten cakes since the medieval times. And this decadent, creamy rooibos blend tastes just like your favourite carrot dessert. It’s got cinnamon and ginger for an extra zing of warmth. Plus carrots and apple to get that perfect fruity balance. Still not convinced? The rich cocoa shells and natural whipped cream flavour will change your mind. Yeah, we knew you couldn’t resist…

Ingredients:
Carrot, rooibos, cocoa shells, cinnamon, apple, ginger, licorice root, natural whipped cream and apple flavouring.

Pretty sure this is my first sipdown of 2022, finally! This bag is so so very old but I’ve been liking it more lately than I did when I first got it. Probably because the flavors have mellowed and melded better over time. Nowadays it actually is more carrot cake-y, especially with oat milk. For my last mug, I added some vanilla agave for an extra boost to the pastry vibe. Good choice for (literally) weathering a storm tonight. Stay safe folks!

edit This serendipitously counts towards Mastress Alita’s sipdown challenge for January 2022! It’s a cream-flavored tea – there’s literally whipped cream flavoring in this. I think when I first bought this I wouldn’t have said so, because the carrot, licorice, and apple flavors were so sharp, but now that they’re more mellow I can enjoy the other flavors too.

You are inspiring me to hunt up older DTs blends that now might be a bit more promising.

#tiffanys2021sipdown Tea #65 overall / Tea #32 for February

Monday 2/22 so my goal is 500 sipdown notes by end of 2021 (each one is a tin/package something minimum one 16 to 20 oz travel mug worth). To do I need at least 42 notes a month so 84 by end of February. This puts me at 3x/day for the rest of February so I need to step up. Luckily this 25g packet of tea from fall 2016 as a cold brew pitcher for my boyfriend is done with so I can count it. I had to come home from my day shift and make him a hot latte to finish the pitcher off so I still had to do some work to make it happen. Lol.

This tea is pretty good. I don’t think it’s sweet enough to call it a “Carrot Cupcake”. It’s very apple forward with the other flavors complimenting that. All the flavors are there, but it’s a little more mild than I would have thought. It’s a nice tea for the evening. I was expecting it to be more desserty than it is. I would get it again.

The tea is good. I enjoy it, although like most Rooibos the main thing I taste is rooibos. Does it taste like a carrot cupcake? Maybe a little in the after taste. I might have oversteeped it so maybe 4 to 5 minutes tastes great.

I love carrot cake teas, so I was excited to use my frequent steeper points to get 2 oz of this. It’s actually one of the best carrot cake teas I’ve had. The spices are so full and tasty. My mouth isn’t smart enough to know exactly what it’s tasting, but I like it! I’m not sure I’d taste it and know that it’s a carrot tea, but it has a bit of a carrot quality. Really pleased with this one. I’m sorry it gets so many negative reviews!

Not bad…I picked this up as a free steeped tea on my account while waiting at the airport. It didn’t bowl me over, but was pleasant enough.

I got this in one of my advent calendars. I will give it a thumbs up for really tasting like a carrot cupcake! However, my dislikes of this one is the pungent ginger that steps in. Also I believe the licorice root is giving it almost a medicinal taste (reminds me of Organic Throat Rescue). I finished the cup but I don’t think I’ll be purchasing more.

Licorice note is too pronounced. Otherwise, good flavour blend. I can pick out the carrot and spice notes.

I forgot to rate this! My local shop gave me a cup for free, I never would have picked this otherwise. But holy carrot batman! I’ve had carrots in tea before, but it’s never been as strong of a note as it is here. Literally all I get is carrots and a bit of spice – it’s almost more savory than anything else. Not completely awful to be honest, and I’d drink it again, but it’s too one-dimensional for a purchase. Honestly, if I want soup, I’ll have soup. (My shop was also about to throw it out, so it was cold.)
