From DAVIDsTEA

Get pumped up

Upgrade your fall sipping with this deliciously cozy, all natural blend of stone-ground matcha, cane sugar and natural pumpkin pie flavouring. It’s already sweetened, so all you need to do is decide what you want to make. You can top it with hot frothed milk for a latte, mix it into your cakes or cookies, and sprinkle it over your oatmeal for an oh-so autumnal treat. Looks like you’ve got some seriously tasty experimenting to do…

I saw that this was re-released on the DT site today, and decided to start a sip down of my remaining 2oz packet from last year (maybe 2 years ago?). I like this, but I much prefer the Gingerbread Matcha from DT over this one. Made as a hot latte (my first latte in months!) and it is quite comforting. But, I won’t be repurchasing after I’m out.

This was the first matcha I ever tried, back when it came out. And surprisingly I liked it. I had an iced cup of this yesterday and its still good – with the subtle flavour of pumpkin pie, and the cane sugar made it delightful. Great as a fall latte.

Sample from Hoalatha.

This is a fine wake me up tea to have before facing the drive to work/work itself. We’ve been moving slow with processing at work lately due to the holidays approaching; therefore, 90% of the day consists of either waiting for work and/or no work at all. Instead of going to work tired and wanting coffee (We don’t drink coffee here) to get me going, I was happy to find this in my stash of samples.

The flavor profile is simi-sweet because it was mixed with regular matcha. However, the balance of the matcha is perfect. The Pumpkin Pie Matcha comes out on the tip of the tongue—which gives it the right amount of sweetness—while the regular matcha gives you the right amount of umph needed for the day.

PS. Now that I’m officially done with school until I start the process for the English MA program, I will have time to review tea.

Cheers!

It is officially pumpkin season – at least, according to DT anyway…

Our pumpkin teas are back in full force, so I decided to treat myself to a bit of a pumpkin milkshake on Friday. I added in a plain vanilla milkshake to my office lunch order, and then when it arrived I mixed in a perfect spoon of this matcha to give it a hint of pumpkin pie deliciousness. It was very good!

Friendly reminder that I do not numerically rate DAVIDsTEA blends as I’m currently employed there and it would be an obvious conflict of interest. Any blends you see with numerical ratings were rated prior to my employment there. These reviews are a reflection of my personal thoughts and feelings regarding the teas, and not the company’s.

All time favorite. Hands down, best thing ever lol. Im OBSESSED. Just bought 8oz of the stuff. I drink it every morning with milk. It has a custardy, sweet, pumpkin pie spice taste. Its perfectly sweetened, not overly done. I can’t get enough.

I can’t believe I forgot to review this.

Though I am not a huge fan of sugar in my tea, I loved this one. The spice and flavoring paired surprisingly well with the matcha, which I wasn’t expecting. It’s buttery and cinnamony, with maybe some hints of the other pumpkin-related spices.

Since they say that they add matcha flavoring to their matcha, I’m not sure how to rate the base. It tasted a little floral, sweet, grassy, and creamy as it should have, but how much of that was the flavoring?

I’m also docking off a few points because by the time I get the tea flavor as strong as I like it, it’s too sugary. Let us sweeten our own teas, David!

I want more. I stopped by my “local” David’s, but they were out. I don’t think it’s worth the $9 shipping fee, so I’m going to have to wait until there’s a sale and hope that they still have it in stock.

Just want to clarify; there IS added flavouring in this matcha but the added flavouring is “Pumpkin Pie” flavouring. There shouldn’t be any matcha flavour added. Also, if your local store is out then sadly they likely wont be receiving more: this is a limited edition/seasonal blend and now that the Fall Season/Collection has ended it wont be supplied to stores anymore. However, that said, it is still available online! Though I know that’s not the easiest option given that you’re in the states right? Shipping sucks.

Yeah, I’m hoping it will still be online during the holiday sales.

I had this one last week as I was feeling festive (with it being Halloween and all) and wanted to treat myself.
I thought Pumpkin Pie Matcha would make the perfect treat. I decided to make things extra exciting by having it as a latte. I know, I’m living life on the edge.
It was sweet and definitely tasted like pie. I couldn’t taste any pumpkin though which I found to be a bit of a bummer because I looooove pumpkin. You could definitely taste the earthy matcha notes as well.
I had this one in the store but I liked it so much I will probably go back and pick up a tin.

As I said in another review, I’m a bit of a pumpkin spice hater, but I’m surprised to say there are two pumpkin teas that I’ve liked. This is one of them.

I make it with a whisk after microwaving or heating up some milk.

It certainly isn’t perfect. There is a little too much sugar in it (and I have a pretty strong sweet tooth) and it only tastes good as a latte… but it tastes so comforting and spicy and warm as a latte that I’ll forgive it. If you like matcha and are intrigued by the concept of matcha pumpkin pie, give this a try. This would probably taste AMAZING as a pie. I might try putting it in some mochi doughnuts.

Wow, is this ever a delicious yummy tea! Tastes exactly like pumpkin pie to me and the flavor of matcha isn’t strong, which I like a lot. I will have to go get some more! Perhaps I shall wait until I can redeem my Frequent Steeper points :)

In my mind, I was thinking of this as pumpkin chai matcha. Now that I know it’s pumkin pie, it makes sense. On the one hand, I was expecting aggressive spices. Knowing that it is pie not chai explains the more subtle flavouring. It didn’t overpower the matcha either, but a little bit of spiciness lingered though. Colour was a matcha green.

The cup was made for me at the store. I had it with the usual matcha volume, as opposed to their tea cup size. Probably 5 of their matcha spoons.

I wonder how one sifts these, given that there is already sugar and spice.
