From DAVIDsTEA

FORMERLY THE EARL’s VALENTINE!!!

Some people swear by chocolate and roses on Valentine’s Day. We say there’s nothing dreamier than tea. But with this oh-so romantic, limited edition blend, you don’t have to choose. It’s got chocolate pieces to sweeten them up. Rosebuds to show you care. Black tea to get them buzzing. And a mysterious hint of bergamot to keep them guessing. Who knows, your fairy tale ending might just be a cup away…

Oh, Davids Tea has hit me right in my weak spot with this one – Earl Greys! I stopped in today for a sample and oh my word, was this ever delicious. I know I am heavily biased into loving basically everything Earl Grey that wanders into my life, but I LOVED this. And I’m not really into chocolate teas anymore, but the floral addition and the Earl Grey base saved it for me. I added a little bit of milk to make this creamier, but I think it’d be fine just straight up. Definitely going back to get more of this before it goes away. I NEED this in my stash, ASAP.

Oh lovely! In store sample today. Chocolate is the dominant note with a touch of rose & bergamot. I don’t need more tea, but I might pick up a small amount of this before it goes away.

I’m so jealous that you live close to David’s!

It seems like everyone on steepster is trying this one! I would have loved this a year ago when I was into sweeter tasting teas and could still drink black tea, but alas I cannot anymore :(..or at least only occasionally. I love bergamot :(

I stopped in at David’s while at the mall today, and decided to try a cup of this because it sounded great. The smell of the dry leaves is amazing. I do enjoy the combination of chocolate and rosebuds.

Upon first sip, I loved the combination. The chocolate is obvious and quite sweet without making it syrupy or tasting terribly artificial. I thought the combination of the sweet chocolate with the powerful floral taste was interesting. As the cup cooled, the taste became a bit overwhelmingly floral for my liking. Not so bad that I didn’t enjoy it, but I could have done with slightly less rosebud.

Overall, I thought it was enjoyable, but not one that I would bother to restock. I think that the novelty would wear off quite quickly for me.

How can they do this to me! I was simply popping in to restock a couple staples and David’s Tea was overrun with delightful Valentine mugs, heart-shaped tins, a sampler with 90% teas I want to sample, and this tea. I tried my best to ignore it all, but be damned if they didn’t give me a sample cup, and here I am with 30 g now (I refrained, I know I have issues with preparing black teas and didn’t want a tin full of black tea that I can’t prepare properly).

Anyway. The smell is beautiful. I wish I could bathe in this. Tea bathbomb? … I really like this. It’s chocolatey in a way that isn’t too in-your face sweet and pairs perfectly with the delicate floral taste. This is the first floral tea I’ve had and I have to say I’m quite taken with it and trying to refrain from throwing out an enthusiastic hundy. I will be buying more of this, guaranteed.

I finished my sample off, desperately stretching the remains with some of my cream of Earl Grey. Yeahhh. I definitely need a tin of this in my life.

On my break at work I checked my email and saw that Davids had all their cute Valentines stuff in! So I hurried over and stocked up on some new tea and some cute new tea mugs! This one is DELICIOUS! I’m not usually a fan of floral teas, but the rose taste is very light and mixes so nicely with the chocolate! It’s creamy and smooth. I love it! Just opening the tin makes the whole room smell like a chocolate bar. Definitely stocking up on this one before it’s gone!

This is really delicious. I wasn’t sure about the floral notes combined with chocolate but this is a winner. It does not need sweetener or milk. The milk and sugar in the chocolate is enough.

Dry Leaf Nose: A complex aroma of chocolate, bergamot and roses

Liquor: A rich golden brown liquor

Flavour: A rich and complex twist on this classic blend. Each flavour is experienced in layers and yet the chocolate, roses and bergamot support each other.
