From DAVIDsTEA

This might just be the most decadently creamy fruit infusion we’ve ever tasted. Seriously. It’s almost crazy how much it tastes like a warm and comforting apple pudding. Our caffeine-free blend combines sweet apples, golden raisins and a rich and creamy hint of vanilla. Go ahead, indulge. With this in your cupboard, who needs dessert?

Ingredients (Original): Apples, golden raisins, coriander, chamomile, natural and artificial vanilla flavouring

Ingredients (10th Anniversary Update): Apples, golden raisins, coriander, calendula petals, natural and artificial vanilla flavouring. (May contain coconut)

I picked up 50 grams of this yesterday as my frequent steeper reward. I figured if it’s free it doesn’t matter how heavy it is. I like the taste of it save for the pesky chamomile.

I didn’t know it was in there. the description goes on about apples and vanilla and I didn’t even think about chamomile. There aren’t a lot of things I dislike in tea and I just failed to check. I knew this wasn’t Rooibos, which I usually avoid, and I didn’t think anything past that. Sigh. I was also hoping that maybe there won’t be a lot of chamomile but there’s quite a presence. You can see it and you can taste it. Aside from that, it’s a pretty good tea. Good flavour, nice crispness and smooth mouthfeel. I wonder what it would taste like without chamomile… I’d probably love it.

Oh Apple Custard, you make a delicious eggnog latte! At first, there wasn’t a very distinctive flavor. Instead, it just tasted creamy and sweet but then I placed it…custard. This drink tasted exactly like custard. Good job tea, you delivered on what you promised and it was delightful.

Dustin

I have been reading reviews where people mention eggnog lattes with other teas… could you explain what that is? I’m guessing it’s eggnog in your tea frothed up a bit?

Cameron B.

It’s something that David’s is doing in-store for the holiday season. Basically you can get a tea latte with eggnog instead of milk.

VariaTEA

Yeah, its a tea latte but it is made with 60% eggnog and 40% milk.

Upon opening my free sample of this tea, I took note of the deliciously sweet and identifiable smell of fresh apple custard — it is truly the perfect scent to wake up to on a cold morning. I brewed it as on the packet – 1.25 tsp for 7 minutes at 96C. This tea brewed as a fairly pale yellow and retained most of the aroma pre-steeping. The flavor comes across as a smooth, creamy vanilla custard with extremely subtle sweet hints of apple and golden raisin following each sip. The flavors carry very well with the chamomile. I found the aftertaste of this tea to be very sweet, and liken it to DAVID’s Cotton Candy; however, I’m a fan of Cotton Candy so it’s definitely not a bad thing. If I were to try this tea again, I would recommend a steep time of less than 7 minutes to perhaps allow the apple notes a better chance of coming through. Overall, a great warm and sweet tea for the winter season, but not what I would consider to be an apple tea.

Picked up a free sample of this on Oct 31st, since I needed a pick-me-up. And OMG… this is amazing. It does smell exactly like apple custard, very strongly custard-vanilla, with fruity apple and a bit of chamomile. Flavour is similar though a bit lighter than I’d like… but at least it does actually taste like it smells! The chamomile fits in quite well (and makes me think that this is the Buttercream alternative for this year). I’m really quite impressed… and have been craving it since I first had it yesterday. This might be a 100g+ purchase for me, but I’ll get another small sample first to be sure. So delicious.

I’m so glad you were able to snag some!

Me too! Except that then I craved it ALL weekend, and the DT in Kitchener/Waterloo is nowhere near as accessible as the one in Guelph.

Dry Leaf Nose: The crisp aroma of fresh apples and creamy vanilla.

Liquor: A golden yellow that is sometimes cloudy.

Flavour Notes: A smooth and sweet blend of apples and creamy vanilla. There is a faint hint of an herb flavour from the coriander.

Marz, it should be available online Nov. 1st as part of the Winter collection, but it’s being sampled in stores tomorrow! :)
