From DAVIDsTEA

This might just be the most decadently creamy fruit infusion we’ve ever tasted. Seriously. It’s almost crazy how much it tastes like a warm and comforting apple pudding. Our caffeine-free blend combines sweet apples, golden raisins and a rich and creamy hint of vanilla. Go ahead, indulge. With this in your cupboard, who needs dessert?

Ingredients (Original): Apples, golden raisins, coriander, chamomile, natural and artificial vanilla flavouring

Ingredients (10th Anniversary Update): Apples, golden raisins, coriander, calendula petals, natural and artificial vanilla flavouring. (May contain coconut)

One of DT’s best blends. I brewed this strong (~45 minutes) with a touch of vanilla soy milk and this is one of the best cups I’ve ever had. Very thick and creamy, like custard or whipped cream, rich, desserty, and naturally sweet.

This is EASILY in my top five all time favourite DT blends! Glad you enjoyed :)

tea-sipper

Roswell – I’d be interested to hear what your favorite 5 (or 10?20?) David’s blends are.

Roswell Strange

Haha, it does shift a bit depending on the season but a rough “top ten” would probably be…

1. Cranberry Pear
2. Blueberry Jam
3. Apple Custard
4. Rhubarb Cream Soda
5. Sweet Potato Pie
6. Banana Grapefruit
7. Rose Matcha
8. Cherry Lucuma
9. Rose Oolong
10. Peach Mai Tai

Roswell Strange

Honorable mentions to Sticky Rice Oolong, Root Beer Float, Peach Zing, Mojito Matcha, Redberry Tonic, Gold Rush, Supreme Pekoe, Royal White Peony, Tropicalia, and Grapefruit Rose Starburst though! They would be the rest of a “top twenty” list.

tea-sipper

oh cool, thanks. Your faves are mostly fruity! I do miss Root Beer Float. Hopefully sweet potato pie is brought back this year.

Roswell Strange

Definitely pretty fruity overall – but interestingly the majority of my fruity favourites are also creamy and/or versatile (in that they work hot/iced/latted/with lemonade/etc). I don’t tend to prefer teas that I can only enjoy when made one way.

Sipdown. I am not too sad to see this one go. It was fine but nothing to get excited over.

So very glad that I have a bit of this left now that the tea has been retired.

Despite my mixed views on this tea when I was drinking it straight up, steeped strong with milk and a dab of honey, it is just wow. Totally apple vanilla custard indulgence.

Hurray for tweaking mediocre and finding fabulous.

I suspect I will be drinking this night after night cuddled up in my flannel jammies and fleece until it is all gone.

VariaTEA

With milk and some honey? I shall have to try it this way.

Evol Ving Ness

Yeah, who knew? Never in a million years would I have considered putting milk into a camomile tea, but then, custard? Well, yeah. I am still surprised at how good it is.

Evol Ving Ness

For 12 oz. of strong tea, I add about 1/4 cup, maybe a bit more, milk and then about 1/2 a teaspoon of honey.

VariaTEA

Awesome. Thanks for letting me know and I’ll be sure to give it a try. This was good as an eggnog latte so I could see your method being very nice.

Evol Ving Ness

Oooh, eggnog!

Nice aroma to this one, definitely a baked apple dessert smell. I was a bit worried with all of the raisins in it as I’m not a huge fan of them, but they don’t overpower the flavour. I never eat raisins by themselves, but in things they’re okay. Anyway, it’s a satisfying tea after a meal. There’s a nice creamy vanilla flavour that blends well with the apple and spices. Quite pleasant.

I love this tea. It definitely needs creamer, but with it it’s the perfect dessert tea. Sometimes it tastes like thick and creamy custard, sometimes it tastes like my husband’s panna cotta. I love it and I’m so sad to be drinking the last of it. Fingers crossed that this will be something DavidsTea brings back this winter!

David’s has it on sale online right now, but you would need to buy 250 grams. Still, if you like it and you drink it often, that may not be all that much, right?

sundaysipping

I didn’t realize it was on sale! 250g wouldn’t be too much since I like it a lot. Thanks!

You are welcome! Hth.

Not quite as strong as I might have hoped, but still a delicious tea that actually tastes of apple. The vanilla isn’t overpowering either (a plus!), which I might have expected from something with ‘custard’ in the name.

Tried this for the first time this evening, the flavours dont seem to come out as much as I expected – hinting of apple, and creamy enough. Decent but I wont be a repeat customer of this blend :)

I have to admit, I sort of ignored much of David’s Winter and Christmas teas. I had found fall slightly less than inspiring and when I saw how (overly) complicated a lot of the winter blends seemed to be, I just wasn’t enthused. Combine that with a trip to the mall on a busy day and a harried sales person as well as a personal overstock of both Sleigh Ride and Santa’s Secret, and, aside from the enthusiastic purchase of much Cocomint Cream, this was a pass for me. Since I have been much more in love with the Spring Collection and these are showing up in sets on the web specials, I have been reinvestigating my initial pass on several of the teas.

J and I are at complete odds on this particular blend. I think if you brew it right and don’t let it over steep it is buttery and amazing, J thinks it is water and then gets overbalanced by the apple. Nevertheless, I do have a small tin of it now to play with. I like some notes in it a lot, I dislike others intensely. For me, really watching the four minute steep yields a brew that is intriguing enough that I enjoy sipping on a cup, but not so engaging that I need to have it absolutely every day. I don’t think I need to have this tea forever, but I am glad I have some to play around with.
