From DAVIDsTEA

The grape escape
We’ve fallen hard for this fresh, tangy, grape-filled blend. In fact, it’s David’s new favourite flavoured tea. Why does he love it so much? There’s just something so luxurious about it. With green tea perfumed with Muscat and concord grapes, it’s a drink fit for royalty. Just brewing a cup makes you feel like you’re floating on some fabulous yacht in the Mediterranean or along the French Riviera. Try it iced in champagne flutes for the full effect. Something tells us we’re into something grape. Limited edition.

Price per 50g: $8.50

Oh, this smells SO good…both dry and after steeping. I’ve been wafting it across the table at my kid for the past 5 minutes in anticipation of it cooling enough to take a sip.

I may have steeped it a bit long – not nearly the 4-5 min on the label – because it came across very bitter on the back-end of each sip. I’m willing to attribute this to human error and not rate it…since where it stands now it’s going to get fed to the sink.

So I’ve had this tea before, and it was good. So I got myself some more (a tin of it actually) and the second time I had it, it wasn’t the same. It had likely steeped too long or got burnt… Some teas are very sensitive and this one if definitely one of them. So this time I tried it at 80 degrees C and let it steep only for 2 and a half minutes. That’s much better, and it actually could’ve done at 2 minutes exactly. I added a little sugar and it was pretty good. It’s a pretty simple (tasting) tea. Green tea, and grapes- of course. It’s probably the only grape tea I like so far. I’m gonna have to write down the specific prep for this tea for future reference.

Less is more with green teas. At least that’s what I’ve found so far with green teas and their steeping times.

So after having this one for a year, I finally am diving in. I hadn’t ‘cause I read somewhere that green teas aren’t good while pregnant? Don’t know how accurate that is…

Either way… I get the green taste very clearly through it, but I’m not really getting much for the grape though. It’s very little grape flavouring that I’m tasting. Maybe it’s the time that I’ve had the tea that is causing this, or maybe it’s just the scoop.. I don’t know. Will try again and decide from there

This was one of the first teas I’d ever bought from DAVIDsTEA last year. Today was the first time I had tried it. I wasn’t disappointed, although I wouldn’t buy this again.

The smell was light and very grape-y. The colour was amber and the taste was light and refreshing. This would make a good iced tea.

Can’t say I’ve ever had a ‘grape’ tea. Now I’m curious…

If you can get your hands on it and you like the taste of grape Jolly Ranchers, this might be the one for you!

Pass The Stash TTB

Sweetened and iced. This is a little grassy, a little grape jolly rancher-y and a little plastic-y. I’ve noticed the plastic note in some fruity teas before. Not fond.

I first tried steeping this tea hot and I wasn’t impressed. This time I cold steeped it and it is much better! I get a wheatgrass tang from this at times and a really strong flavor that sometimes seems floral and other times seems grape or muscat like. I think I prefer this slightly sweetened which makes the grape part more full or true. I like it, am glad to have tried it, will enjoy the rest of the sample I got, but I don’t feel compelled to buy it again.

I tried it as a sample in the store. I was not impressed! Very little grape taste and a little artificial

Hooray, one of the teas that inspired my swap with VariaTEA went into a cold brew last night—only for around 3hrs. That was almost too long… darn sencha. Maybe I just overleafed. Still good, but mostly sencha, not much other flavour. My main trouble with flavoured greens! Darn them all to heck.

VariaTEA

Oh no. I am sorry you didn’t really enjoy it. It was not for me either.

Memily

No it’s ok! I’m still very glad I got to try it and still looking forward to sampling it hot :)

Hopefully it improves for you.

This was actually the only tea from the Spring line that I tried. I love it. I’m generally less of a fan of green teas because I find they are grassy and irritate my throat, but this one is just divine. It’s so sweet and juicy and flavorful. Additionally, the quality of the leaves is superior to many of the other green’s I’ve tried from David’s. The tea doesn’t bother my throat, and goes down very easy. I should really try this iced, I’ve only had it hot so far.
I actually just managed to snag another small tin of this at David’s today even though it’s been discontinued for a couple months, so if it doesn’t come back next year I’ll have my fix. =)

What a lovely smell. Almost matches the flavor. Speaking of flavor I did not like this hot. The sencha overpowered everything. But as it cooled off the grape came out nicely.
