From DAVIDsTEA

Punch up your iced tea game with a wave of juicy black grapes and a hint of tart berry. Beautifully blended with delicate white tea for a balanced finish, this mouth-watering refresher is the perfect way to add a touch of sophistication to your summer sipping. Our favourite part? It steeps a vibrant purple thanks to butterfly pea and hibiscus.

What makes it great

Steeps a beautiful bright purple thanks to butterfly pea flowers and hibiscus.

The delicate white tea base balances this blend out beautifully for a deliciously sophisticated summer refresher.

Try it on ice with a slice of lemon.

White tea, Apple (apple, citric acid), Raisins, Hibiscus blossoms, Natural (wildberry, grape) flavouring, Blue butterfly pea blossoms, Grape seeds, Black currants, Pink cornflower blossoms, Stevia extract.

Punchy notes of sweet and juicy black grapes with a hint of tart berry and a complex finish.

This is very floral, but cold, it’s all right! It’s also quite fruity. It’s not a bad combination! It can easily get oversteeped and become a bit tart and strange though.

Backlogged sipdown of a pitcher pack. I mean, it’s grape, on a white base, and that’s pretty much it.

Iced Tea Sipdown (256)

We decided to try a new cupcake place today and one of the cupcakes was a vanilla cake with grape frosting which just seemed so weird but so interesting. With that calling my name, I heard this tea calling me as well.

I was excited for a grape flavor after I had quite a lot of success with the cupcake. Unfortunately, this was sorta grape-y, mostly hibiscus though and then just soap. Me and the white tea bases that companies use don’t always get along it seems and despite my high hopes, that was the case here.

Last of the new teas!

This one is pretty simple in terms of flavour profile, which I appreciate. It’s just a solid “purple grape” flavour with a tiny hint of berry, though the berry really only serves to make the grape element feel more well rounded/balanced and deeper. It’s fairly juicy with some sweetness, though I do think this is the least sweet of the three new blends. There’s also enough white tea in here for it to definitely take on some drying mouthfeel and bitter flavour if you steep it too long or with boiling water…

I far prefer this one iced or cold brewed over hot, but it’s not terrible hot. Just a lot more refreshing when prepared the other way. I actually had this one today, as a cold brew, after work with some whipped cream on top and that was pretty nice. It reminded me a lot of the grape ice cream slush that Sonic carried years ago. I’m not sure if the Ice Cream slushes were all that popular, but I know that I liked that one so it was a bit nostalgic for me. Though, fair warning, dairy does curdle in this tea so it was more of a whipped cream floated on top with the knowledge that it was going to curdle at the contact point.

Oh, it also steeps a pretty purple colour because of the butterfly pea flower in the blend!

Sadly I feel like this will probably be the least popular of the new teas since grape teas historically haven’t been super well loved, but I think it’s actually quite nice…

Friendly reminder that I do not numerically rate DAVIDsTEA blends as I’m currently employed there and it would be an obvious conflict of interest. Any blends you see with numerical ratings were rated prior to my employment there. These reviews are a reflection of my personal thoughts and feelings regarding the teas, and not the company’s.

I’m excited about this one. Any insight on how it compares to Grape Freeze?

Roswell Strange

It’s been so long since I last had Grape Freeze, but going on memory I think this one is a little bit stronger in terms of flavour and it does have a slight berry flavour as well (not super strong imo, though). I liked Grape Freeze, and I feel like the grape flavour itself is pretty similar – just in different intensities.

I LOVE purple grape! I wonder why they’re not very popular? :/

Roswell Strange

I’m honestly not sure – there are just a couple of flavours that typically don’t seem to land very well no matter what angle they’re presented with. Grapefruit is another example of a fruit that just doesn’t seem to work very well…
