Second steep was much lighter, but still drinkable.

Got this from the 24 Days of Tea calendar. I’m a fan of just about everything mint, but I was a little apprehensive about this one since it’s spicy too, with ginger and cardamom and even some black pepper. I even felt a tiny bit disappointed when I pulled this one out of the calendar. I have to say, though, I’m pleasantly surprised and I kinda love this one. The mint and the spices meld well together. There’s supposed to be green tea in there but I don’t really get any flavor from that at all. But what is there is a persistent sweetness, even though there’s no sugar in this, it tastes to me like it’s sweetened. I might have to pick up more of this sometime.

My Santa’s Secret arrived yesterday, and brought with it samples, including this one.
Its a sort of savory, spicy sort of mint. Its really quite different. I’m not entirely sold on it, but I’m really pleased to have tried it.

I was really eager to try this tea. The mere idea of a minty tea makes me happy and I am looking to restock my winter teas. This was a small sample from the Resolution set sold at Christmas.

Dried the leaf produces a spicy mint aroma, something I was not sure I would enjoy since I was picking up the ginger and mint together. I am not a huge fan of ginger unless my stomach is upset. Brewed it produces an orange brown liquid, with a strong mint aroma and ginger undertones. I had to take several sips of the tea before I picked up on a distinct flavour of mint, but the more I drank, the more I drew out the ginger which gave it a sort of spicy mint flavour.

While I am not a fan of the ginger, I will not count this one out just yet. It may come in handy if I decide to buy more.

At first I really enjoyed the earthy mint flavour. It’s not overwhelming mint. After a few cups I’ve now tasted ginger or liquorice and it isn’t something I would buy again. I’d recommend it for those who love mint and ginger. It is a well made tea but it’s not to my taste.

Don’t mind this one. I can’t stand the taste of ginger but it’s more heat than flavour in this case, which I can deal with. The licorice root adds a nice sweetness without overpowering. Mint should have been the star with spices as the complimenting flavour rather than the other way around. Overall, not horrible but I won’t be buying more. Note – as it cooled down I started to taste bubblegum? Wasn’t expecting that lol.

Organic North African Mint by DAVIDsTEA was THE ONLY tea that I disliked the most out of the entire 24 Days of Tea.

I was going to use the word hate because that’s how much I did NOT like this tea, but hate is a pretty strong word to use in the same sentence as tea (and in general) and at the end of the day it’s still tea and I love tea.

But seriously, I thought this tea was so awful I couldn’t finish it.

The dominant flavour that kept hitting me in my face was BLACK PEPPER.

Holy cow was that pepper so strong, it entirely ruined everything.

It’s sad because I wanted to love this tea and I had really high hopes for it. It combined two types of teas I love – green and mint. In theory it should have been a magical tea but it makes me sad to say that it was really terrible.

After the shock of pepper subdued, you got a second round of spices in your face. Yes cardamon, ginger, and fennel – I’m looking at you.

This tea was also way too spicy it left my mouth burning and overall in a very uncomfortable state. Maybe I just got unlucky with the batch I got, because I couldn’t taste any green tea or peppermint. For now I have no urge to try this tea again anytime soon, as it left me kind of scarred.

One of my favorite teas, the mint comes in strong, the green tea is astringent, and the follow through is the licorice root, leaving my mouth sweet, and wet. I was unable to get through going to school without a mug of this to wake up, and despite the low caffeine content, was the perfect wake up, without a crash afterwards.

Meh. Pretty average. Minty, with a bit of a spicy kick. I drank one cup and gave the rest of it away.
