11 Tasting Notes
This one seemed like the best choice for my insane catching-up study session/getting paperwork done at the same time. I was worried when I smelled it that the taste wouldn’t be as good as the smell. But it does! It is much more delicate than I thought, and I left the tea ball in until my cup was dry. It really does taste like pineapple and is satisfyingly sweet but thirst quenching. I think icing this would be amazing, especially with a few chunks of fresh pineapple in it. All in all, it might be one of my new staples!
This tea is pretty tasty. I definitely get the mango flavor, as well as some orange. It’s light, not nearly as tart as I thought it would be, but I also actually let it steep for 3 minutes. It’s a nice delicate fruity tea that isn’t too heavy on the sweetness. This would be amazing iced, and I might just make up a batch today!
Flavors: Apple, Mango, Orange
Trying this one right now, a bit late from my advent calendar. It’s alright. It kind of tastes like caramel corn rather than the molassesy-gingery taste I was looking forwards to from the smell. Something in this is a weird taste, but I am unsure of what. Perhaps the maple sugar or crystallized ginger. it gives me a mucous-y mouthfeel (don’t know how else to describe that… like when you have a really tart candy?) that coats my mouth. I can’t say I am much of a fan of this one. I was hoping for a richer taste and better flavour.
This tea is great when I am feeling sick, but otherwise I can’t touch it. The eucalyptus doesn’t sit well with me and it much too strong without a stuffy nose. I can see the appeal, but it’s really not one for me. Maybe some sweetener would make it more palatable, but I’m so glad the wife likes it so I don’t have to drink it.
This tea is good, but not as good as Orange Blossom if you are looking for an awesome orange tea. I find the artificial flavoring to be too much for me, and it leaves a weird aftertaste. I have only tried it hot so far, but perhaps iced it would mellow out a bit more. Or with coconut milk I can see it being really good. But something about the aftertaste and sour-artificial taste makes it less than pleasing to me. i will still drink it, but i probably wouldn’t buy it again unless iced turns into a huge success
This tea scared the pants off me, so naturally I bought 100 grams of it…and good thing I did! It’s oddly addicting, especially if you love scotch, the smell of campfires or drinking weird stuff. I don’t really know how to describe this one besides smokey. It’s confusing, but delicious, especially with milk and a tiny bit of honey (more scotch-like). But it’s definitely not for the faint-of heart… and I wouldn’t recommend buying 100g at the first go.
Flavors: Campfire, Drying, Fireplace, Oak, Scotch, Whiskey
This is my absolute favorite tea from David’s tea. I had no idea what mulberries were before buying this tea, but they are totally amazing! This tea is delicate, light slightly fruity, slightly rich, slightly creamy. The best of all the worlds. The coconut gives an amazing creaminess that I haven’t found in a lot of teas (Mint to Be from David’s is the other amazing coconut-inspired flavor I have found). Try this tea. Even if you hate coconut, because it’s not obviously coconut. It’s just amazing. My qualms with this tea is that a lot of times David’s is out of it. I guess that means they will keep making it, so that’s my silver lining.
I think I’m one of the few white chicks who doesn’t go absolutely bananas for pumpkin-spiced everything. So in the fall, I was surprised to find myself smelling the teas at David’s, and picking out this one. But holy tea bags, am I glad I did. This is an amazingly well-balanced tea. It isn’t too sweet even with the honeybush, maple crystals and cinnamon, it’s tastes like homemade pumpkin pie without all the sugar. It’s not too cinnamon-y, which is amazing because I’m not the biggest cinnamon fan. And it tastes like REAL pumpkin…. like you just hacked one open and baked it – a really good tribute to pumpkin as it should be done without all the sugar or spices.
I’m on the fence with this one. The first time I tried it was iced in store after smelling the samples. It smelled amazing, like marzipan and everything good about almond extract. However for some reason, the taste threw me off. It kind of puckered my cheeks (if that makes sense), and tasted artificial, though there are natural almond flavors listed. So I’m not sure about that. I’ve had it hot as well, which seemed better, but still left me with a weird aftertaste. So I think I will try it one more time (to finish my tin, maybe with milk/sweetener to see what happens).
I got this one in the advent calendar this year and it’s really great! I generally am not a huge fan of chocolate teas, but for some reason the mint balances out the sweetness. It is still noticeably sweet, but when I need a treat without getting elbow-deep into a bag of chocolate-covered almond, it works. The thing that confuses me is the smell of the tea. it smells very weird – almost astringent and acidic, which I might expect if it had artificial flavors, but it doesn’t. It will remain a mystery, but don’t judge by the smell.
