From DAVIDsTEA

Garden party

Is there anything prettier than a rose-scented tea? This classic blend is just as romantic as a bouquet of flowers – and a whole lot tastier, too. Rose Congou teas are traditionally made with black tea, but we love mixing rose petals and rosehips with the subtle grassiness of Chinese green tea. The result is deliciously floral and delicately fruity, like walking through an English garden after a spring rain. No umbrella required.

Ingredients: Green tea, rosehips, rose petals, natural flavouring*.

I received this as a sample with my order. According to the chart, I was supposed to receive Pistachio Cream instead, but I ended up with this. I was sad when I saw it instead of what I really wanted to try. I actually ordered on the day that I knew that would be a sample. Oh well. I don’t prefer green tea, but it’s okay. I think I don’t like the roses in it. I would never purchase anything with roses as the main ingredient, it just taste odd, like I’m eating flowers. I’ll finish the cup and maybe make another from the same leaves, but I surely wouldn’t buy it.

I do like Chais and I do like Rose teas… and yes, I do like this one a lot!

The roses are lingering somewhere in the back, not over saturating but always present. Tea itself is almost sweet and earthy. A spring morning in a rose plantation would describe the flavor perfectly!

As you could probably tell from my reviews of jasmine teas, I really enjoy perfumey, floral tea. If it smells like someone put a handful of petals in my cup and then poured hot water over it, I’m there. Rose Congou Green definitely delivers on the perfumey floraliness aspect, to the point where I can’t really detect the taste of green tea or rosehips. It’s just straight-up rose petals and that is fine by me.
EDIT: Check out my rather excessive tea collection why don’tcha: http://instagr.am/p/Pm3AxXSkcx/

Nothing serious today. Just left a cup on the table and had quick sips between lines of “code”.

Eventually it just cooled down to room temperature, and although I wasn’t really focused on it at all, from it I still felt a pleasantly light and refreshing bit of calm to keep the mind sharp.

Particularly for something initially intended today to be drunk mindlessly, I am satisfied.

I got this tea to go one day because I was about to make an order online and this was on sale. I seem to like rose, so I thought I would like this, but it tastes more like rosehip than rose, which I don’t like.

I am generally not a fan of any type of floral flavors. However, I decided to give it a go and this tea caught me off guard. I was pleasantly surprised with the fact that I did, in fact, enjoy it. There really isn’t very much to elaborate on about the smell/ taste of this, as the rose element REALLY dominates, and barely any green tea can be detected. Overall, I like this tea. It’s definitely NOT a favorite, but I could see myself drinking it every once in a great while. (probably in the summer months, as it is a lighter floral/ perfume-y tea, and I prefer my heavier teas in the winter) I would love to see how this tastes iced, and if that changes anything.

I’m sorry, but I just can’t do it. I thought I was really going to like this, I really wanted to like this, but I just couldn’t finish the cup. It literally tasted like I had walked into a rose garden and started eating everything in sight. Yuck. If there was some more “stuff” in it other than just rose-flavoured pieces I would have definitely liked it more. I’m not put off by the taste of rose, it was just SO MUCH ROSE.

I might try mixing this with something weird I have in my drawer like Forever Nuts or some Gunpowder Green. Maybe it will turn drink-able. The BF, who thought his mom would like it, is also not a fan for the same reason. Too much rose.

I received this as a sample and gave it a try. It smelled a little artificial, which was to be expected because of the “artificial flavoring” noted on the label. It tasted artificial as well, though, and that flavor overpowered the whole thing. I didn’t finish my cup, tried to pass it on to my boyfriend. He made a face and didn’t want any either.

I’ve never been more sad about a tea being discontinued. :(

A beautiful English rose garden… that was what it was — both in taste and imagery.

Delicious, though it may be an acquired taste, as it’s very strong and resembles a bouquet of roses in both smell and taste. I use about about 1/2 tsp. per cup and steep it for a very short amount of time.
