Goodbye Pom Power! Gooooodbye forever?

(hello pomtango! ilu!)

ne14t

I never managed to get a chance to try Pom Power; however I must say Pom Tango is freaking awesome, I have to make some iced tonight to enjoy all aspects, but I really enjoyed it warm, almost like drinking juice.

amsba20d

I’m about to finish up my supply of Pom Power. I’ve been savoring it for months. Is Pom Tango a DAVIDsTEA tea or somewhere else? Is it still around? I can’t seem to locate Pom Tango.

TeaLady441

It was part of the spring collection, but it looks like it’s gone now. Maybe they’ll bring it back next year?

Hot-brewed and chilled this one to use up the last of it. Still not working for me though. It’s not bad, just really meh. It does taste pomegranate-y, but there’s really no white tea at all, and the hibiscus scares me. Another tea I’m not sad to be finished with!

Buying the iced tea tumbler was the smartest thing I ever did! This was the tea of the day along with Bear Trap the other day, and while I went in intending to load up on Bear Trap (which, with a little bit of agave, tastes just like candy), I took a sip of this and had to try it. I am so glad I did. Hot, I found the hibiscus was too much for me, but iced….it was glorious. And while I prefer to cold steep here at him, I can totally see the merits of making the tea double strong and then icing it. The hibsicus doesn’t have nearly as much time to contemplate world (and tea) domination. This is one I can definitely see myself returning to.

MegWesley

Hibsicus world and tea domination! Make me giggle so badly.

Glad to be of service. tips hat :D

My pomegranate tree is exploding with lots of pomegranates, but still not ready yet! With that said, I kept thinking about this tea. Oddly, I didn’t review it yet, so here it is!

DRY: Sweet tart fruit snack smell. I gotta say this is up there on weird teas – it’s chunky, sticky and clumpy. I think I got scared when I bought this at DT and saw the sales gal scoop it. It’s got that appearance of hot rice crispy treats being spooned out of the cooking pot… but not stringy. I’m a little worried with the shelf life of this tea with it being sticky.
I tasted one of the pomegranate bits and it was tasty!

STEEPED: Pink colour – tart smell, like cranberry.

TASTE: Slight tartness comes out with a hit of fruity – a little pomegranate but could be mistaken for a light cranberry from the tartness. Sweetened with rock sugar, the fruityness is brighter and more pomegranate and less tart.

WHO’D LIKE THIS TEA: Fruity tea drinkers

COMMENTS: I’m happy that this tea has a good level of tart – it’s not overpowering and seems more natural to pomegranate. Overall, not bad but not blowing my mind – this might be good cold steeped though. I feel that I should kill off this tea before the stickyness mutates into something horrible.

This tea is interesting. I do have a pomegranate white tea I got at a local shop, but it does not turn pomegranate juice red when I steep it like this does. Of course I also used all I was sent to make a cup so that it would be very flavored. But then it loses out on the white tea base.

Smells like pomegranate, tastes like…cranberry? I guess this is the doing of the hibiscus but it really just tastes like warm juice. Since it had already cooled a lot with about 3 oz left, I put some ice cubes in the mug and it tastes even more like cranberry juice iced.

But, if there’s anything I’ve learned from flavored tea it’s this: if at first it’s too flavored, steep it again.

Still very pink, but more like I’d expect for pomegranate flavored tea. Still smells like a pomegranate. But there’s still no white tea taste! It’s a lot less flavored this time around but it still doesn’t taste a thing like Silver Needles :(

Thanks for sending me some of this to try, Krystaleyn!

Kittenna

Definitely not my favourite. I left myself a cup’s worth so I can give it one last shot, but it wasn’t a winner for me. And I’m sure you noticed how sticky it was too… Egh.

momo

Yeah, I opened the bag and was like, what is going on here. I’m starting to love fruit teas but this just tasted straight up like one dimensional juice instead of something fun. Was worth a try though.

Kittenna

I checked my previous review, and apparently I also couldn’t taste the white tea. Seems like such a waste to pay for a white tea and not taste it at all!

I had this iced from the store, so it’s not the best way to judge it. But, I found it rather tart and not very convincingly pomegranate. I don’t know. I kept thinking cherry instead of pomegranate, and I don’t like cherry flavours.

Anyway, this is kind of a shameful waste of silver needles as I couldn’t taste any of that under the overbearing whatever flavours. It was drinkable, but it felt like I had bought a bottle of some kind of hyper-processed juice, not tea!

Cattibrie

I really enjoyed this one but I agree that you really don’t get alot of the actual tea. More the fruit. And mine was sweet with only a little tartness to it. Strange how everyone’s cup is different from a different store.

nomadinjeopardy

So strange! I should really give it a chance brewed under better conditions, because I’d love a tasty pomegranate tea.

Cattibrie

I try hard not to judge the tea by the way it is prepared in store for the iced tea of the day. I am even going to give the Coffee Pu’reh another try.

I am celebrating finishing up this one today. I bought it for the mini-tin and now I can actually put a tea in there that I prefer. No matter how many times I have Pom Power it just doesn’t completely win me over. Farewell tea, I do not think I will miss you.

I really like this one. I made it hot and am not finding it very tart at all. The words ‘just right’ come to mind with this one. The other good news is I find that I don’t even taste the hibiscus, just the pomegranate! As we all know hibiscus can often overpower the tea, but this one isn’t doing that. This is a nice refreshing cup…relaxing me while I wait on the butter for the cookie dough to thaw a little more. sigh

This smells wonderful.
It has been sold out at my DTs for so long, I am glad I finally got to try it!
I don’t mind it hot, but it is way better cold brewed.
I was worried about it being quite tart with the hibiscus but it is actually quite good, I find that pomegranates are supposed to taste a little tart. This tastes fruity and refreshing.
It tastes like it would be really healthy, but there is artificial flavouring. Too bad

Drunk From Tea

I bought this one recently, mostly to brew cold. I am a bit nervous to brew it cold incase I mess up because this tea is quite expensive. Did you cold brew this at home? If so can you tell me how you do it?

tigress_al

I use the regular amount of tea per 12ounces of water. (I usually make 24 ounces at a time though). I use a jar because it seals nicely and you don’t get that “fridge” scent. I leave it in the fridge overnight or for 6-9 hours. Then, I use a little strainer and pour it into a glass!

Drunk From Tea

Ahhhh. So you dont put it in a tea bag? you just let the leaves be loose?

tigress_al

yep, but then you need a strainer to filter them!

Drunk From Tea

Of course! Thanks so much (: I will definately try this!

I’ve been waiting all week to try this!
When I smelled it today and last week, all I could think of was that this could be my yummy replacement for Strawberry White! of course then I learned that hisbiscus is bad for my tastebuds, but I still wanted to give it a try :)

It’s quite tart (of course) but I am having it with sweetener so that helps a bit. The pomegranate taste is genuine! Tastes just like eating a juicy pomegranate – I like that. The white tea gives it a solid base – it’s not bitter at all in that respect. They must have steeped it well for me today :)

It’s not my favorite fruit or tea but I have to say this would be a great one for tart berry-tea lovers. Yum!

Weird. Mine today was sweet with a little tart. No sweetener at all.
I am really enjoying it and I bought 50g and got it from a fresh bag. Yay. We’ll see how this is hot.

Daisy Chubb

The girl who sold it to me loves it hot!
Ibet if they would have steeped mine a little less it would have been less tart for sure. I am tempted to steep it myself at home, it’s pretty quality tea. You’ve inspired me :D I’ll get a little bag today!
