Having this is a tea latte from the Pearson Airport DT… omg. So delicious! A bit weaker than I would like, but the flavour is fabulous. It was recommended that I have it with soy milk (and I wanted it sweetened as well), and both were clearly great decisions. My only regret is that my Timolino is still icky from the white chocolate mocha I put in it on the way to Cancun (it needs a good scrub…)

Fabulous first cup of tea in nearly a week! Although perhaps I should have gone with a caffeinated one… it has been a loooooooong day…

Haha, I did bring tea to Mexico, but it was in my checked bag and I didn’t think to take any out before re-checking my bag after going through customs. Ah well!

Yesterday when I made some of this tea iced to take to the Managers meeting, I had two young lads race up the the counter and ask for a sip. I made too much for my travel mug and rather than put just a little amount into the fridge. I poured the last little bit over and ice cube (one for each lad)

I held my breath…

Lad 1 – “Oh My GOD Erin!! THERE IS CINNAMON IN THIS!”

Lad 2 – “Erin, I know this is from your stuff, an-an’ I know e’pensive, but can we have this for Beach day tomorrow?”

And that is what we did today, Lad 2 helped me set this one up for a sun-steeped tea today, and it turned out really well! Rooibos sun-steeps so well and does not over steep (it would seem)… Not only that, but all 16 kids that showed up tried this tea, of the 16 over half prefer this tea over the “Bear Trap” we made and 2 requested this tea for Christmas Camp!

Verbatum: We could steep this and add hot-chocolate powder!! (Wow, I am creating evil tea genius’!!

Sadly that would be tough to do for these kids, because we have no way of effectively heating the coconut milk at my site (no stove, no hot plate)

When I bought this, I saw coco in the description and said “Ooooh chocolate chai!” and threw it in my cart. When it arrived I said “Oooooh I’m in the mood for some chocolate!” and made a pot. I tasted it and said to my husband “I don’t taste any chocolate!” and he said “I taste coconut” and I said “But it’s supposed to be chocolate!” and this went on for quite awhile before I USED MY READING SKILLZ to read both the packet and website which clearly states coconut. I’m not sure if this is better or worse than when I pried all of the little tongs off of Harney’s tagalong tins for months before realizing that you simply have to press the top to open it. I continue my reign as Steepster’s biggest dodo bird.

ANYWAY – Half way into the packet, I am finally over the embarrassment and can drink the tea for what it is — a sweet, delicious coconut chai. There is some pepper which nicely balances the very sweet coconut. Great choice in this one, even though I’m not usually big on the pepper. The chai spices are balanced. I still love the cinnamon chai the best, but am very happy with this as a change of pace, especially when I’m craving something sweet.

You are FAR from a dodo bird! Speaking of birds, I got a new hen yesterday and she is so pretty and sweet. She escaped once in the car but rode happily in her nest on the 90 minute drive home. She got really excited when hubby stopped at Bojangles for a drink and fries, and we had to give her half the fries!

Seriously, how good is this rooibos? I still can’t believe I even like a red rooibos.

I’ve been going through a bunch of my teas and trying them with this soy creamer I bought the other week, and this one tastes so unbelievably amazing with it. Like a coconut spice cake. It makes me want to come up with a cake equivalent recipe, peppercorns and all.

My last day skiing :( today was awesome! Soo much powder, ugh I don’t want to go back tomo :( anyways, having this cozy tea to warm up and relax my muscles, so much cinnamon today! But the coconut is also there in the aftertaste. This is almost a sipdown, but I will definitely be restocking this one, such a tasty caffeine free chai! See previous notes :)

Not terrible!! finally. Ugh!
Then again, not great either. I don’t appreciate the odd combo of citrus/cinnamon and ginger. Not in my food, or my tea apparently! and the cinnamon was a tad spicy. Nonethelss… Made as a latte, this was till better than I expected so I’m happy as I can be with it.
The orange part was really nice, I quite liked that… which is probably what redeemed my cup :)
Still, the rest of this sample will go to Dad. He’s like Mikey, he’ll drink almost anything I put in front of him! (mind you he can’t tell the difference between a black and an oolong but I am working on it!)
There’s only enough for one cup more anyhow.

Yep! Blood tests and a medication I have to inject. It’s pretty run of the mill for me given my medical condition – http://mymissingfactor.wordpress.com/2013/06/05/needles-tea-and-deep-breathing/. I’m still waiting on the results of the bloods, but we were also testing my tolerance level to one of my medications, and that went very well.

I’m gonna go catch up on your blog next! I read it in its entirety last time you posted a link to it. I don’t have any medical conditions, tho I do work in the medical field. But I am going thru a period of major stress these last two months and it was a thoughtful and inspiring read to me.

I was also intrigued enough by your posts on the barre classes that even tho I live in a smaller city, I googled looking for a barre studio and was surprise to find at least two in town easily, and one had a branch in my part of town. I’m completely unathletic and clumsy and currently working up the nerve to call or stop by and ask some questions.

Chrine – thanks for reading! And if it helps, I’m quite clumsy too (with a bleeding disorder, I know, fabulous), but I’ve found that because barre works the stabilizing muscles in your limbs it makes you more coordinated. It takes a bit of hard work but I trip over my own feet less now. And I live in a very small city, and our barre studio was the first in Australia!

Advent Calendar Day 3! I have been wanted to expand into other Davids Chais after I realized how much I love Chai tea in general. I tried this one it last years advent calendar, and it clearly didn’t wow me then since I didn’t remember it, so it was time to give it another try.

I would say it is a very mild sweet chai. I don’t like it as much as chocolate chili chai (which I got a bunch of today, more on that later) because I don’t feel it has enough of a kick. I will definitely be giving it another try later though to see if I can bring out more of the spice. The flavours just seemed weak to me in this outting.

However all is not lost! I got a HUGE DT haul today. Like huge. I got refills of Birthday Cake, Chocolate Rocket, and Brazillionaire. And then I got a bunch of new tins: Pink Flamingo, Cocomint Cream, Chocolate Chili Chai, Read my Lips, and Mother’s Little Helper. And I got 50 grams of the Skinny. They were unfortunately out of Sleigh Ride so I will have to go back but yay so exciting, I’ve been holding off on this buy for a while

I’ve been struggling with stomach issues for about 4 years now… the latest from my doctor is that it’s definitely gluten-intolerance, might even be Celiac’s disease. Sigh. So, I’m trying to go completely gluten-free, but the withdrawal symptoms are nuts: headaches, mood-swings, irritability… it goes on.

I’ve been mainlining a lot of tea as a result, and yesterday my sweet husband offered to make me a cup of something before bed. I requested this since it’s hard for a coffee drinker like him to mess up. While it didn’t do anything for the headaches or mood-swings, it was a nice little cuppa before bed. Hopefully my hunny makes this tea-making thing a habit, I could get used to it for sure!

Gluten-intolerance is no fun, sorry that you’re plagued with these problems. Don’t know if you like to cook, but there’s this amazing cookbook, “Clean Food” by Terry Walters. Her kids are intolerant/allergic to just about everything, so her recipes are sans gluten, lactose, etc. yet still super delicious.

nicey spicey.
i’m not a huge chai person and i’m kinda over rooibos.
which is probably why i didn’t review this tea until now cuz i’m on my last cup.
the good thing is that my allergies have been kicking in and it makes me crave stronger flavors. helps cleanse and wake up the nose and throat.
so in conclusion, chai rooibos, it tastes good when your allergies don’t! :)

allergies = time to get healthy and 100% vegan again. i’d complain, but it makes me feel so much better that i can’t really bother. :)
