I tried this tea a couple of days ago and have been so busy I am just finding the time to log it now! I had exotica as the tea of the day in my iced tea mug and sat in the store (which is set up like a little cafe) to drink that. As I did that, I was looking at the wall trying to decide what I was going to try next and could not figure it out for the life of me. I finally decided when I went up to the counter that I would try this tea. Dry, it smelled just ok to me but I decided to go ahead and try it anyways cause it was busy and I didn’t want to waste the poor guys time! I do enjoy a good floral tea every once in a while or a tea with floral undertones but this was wayyyy too floral for me! I did manage to drink the whole thing but it will not be something I will be going back to anytime soon.

Day 84 of my 101 days of DAVIDsTEA challenge, and the very last of my Advent calendar teas. (Yes, it’s February. I know.)

Dumped the container in my Chinese tea pot and made it with around 3 cups of water.

Sweet Dreams is caffeine free. Who am I to disagree? I’ve travelled the world and the seven seas, everybody’s looking for something…..

Ok. Admittedly I’ve been singing that ever since I’ve heard of this tea. Unfortunately, this tea appears to not be what I’ve been looking for.

The large array of ingredients in this tea makes for a rather deep flavour. That much was intriguing. However, I found the overall taste to be, while not bad, not something I’d want to have on a regular basis. It also bittered quickly, which again muted my enjoyment of it.

I suppose I’ll have to keep looking for that “something”.

I almost spent $45 on a very small amount of tea a few days ago because T2 has an adorable new “breakfast club” set with eight of their different city breakfast teas in twee little tins. LITTLE tins. Walk away, Renee.

Meanwhile, ouch cramps ouch hormones ouch emotions.

I think this is the first tea that I would say I hated. It tasted like a big cup of Mr. Clean and I couldn’t finish it. Down the drain it went.

I received this tea as a gift from a coworker (as I gave her lots of teas to try). She said this one was close to her most fav tea in the world (Silk Road’s Philosophers Brew) that she could find locally.

The smell is…. Chamomile! Surprise! WOOOOOOO! Steeped, the tea goes pink (if in a bag, the red/pink sits on the bottom of the cup).
I’m always a little worried steeping this as over steeped chamomile tastes like soggy old grassy socks to me. But I get that to get that lemongrass out you need to steep it a bit longer.

Taste… chamomile! With soft hits of citrus… mellow licorice and fennel. A little floral at the end. I find the chamomile comes out very strongly, fennel next with that mellowness with the other flavours on the back-burner.

For chamomile tea lovers, this would be a great tea to mix it up. Run, don’t walk and try this tea.

For me… who doesn’t mind chamomile but picky about it (if it comes in a bag or is over steeped it tastes like mold/soggy/socky/weedy) it’s not a bad tea as it does its job by making one relax and sleepy. I really wish the lemongrass would come out more to add more interest. Compared to “Philosopher’s Brew”, Sweet Dreams is just chamomile. Philosopher’s Brew is an inspiring lemongrassy floral herbal with chamomile as backup – The reverse of Sweet Dreams.

But in the end Sweet Dreams is a relaxing tea without being straight-up chamomile.

Very very similar to Mother’s Little Helper, maybe sweeter. Definitely did the trick and made me very sleepy but I still prefer Mother’s Little Helper.

T joy

I think the same thing!

This is the first loose tea I bought for my mom (because she can only drink decaf) and she loves it! She recently bought more because she drinks it every night to help her fall sound asleep. I drink this as well, but I drink “Mother’s Little Helper” more, every night… both are herbal teas from DAVIDsTea :)
