From Butiki Teas

Creamy Eggnog is part of our holiday series that encompasses a number of holidays from different religions. Many people might not think of eggnog as their number one choice for a Christmas flavor but Eggnog is particularly important in my family’s tradition of celebrating Christmas. Eggnog always marked the beginning of the Christmas season and was the last thing we would drink before we would try to go to sleep Christmas Eve. As a child, getting any sleep Christmas Eve would have been a miracle. There was always so much excitement and anticipation building. Creamy Eggnog pairs our buttery Organic Huangshan Mao Feng with a rich creamy eggnog flavor. The tea and flavor work well with each other and neither overshadows the other. This tea is sweet with a heavy cream and eggy quality. Add a little brown crystal sugar and the tea becomes extremely creamy, rich, and very much like eggnog. Some vanilla notes become pronounced and so do the egg notes. We added safflower for a touch of red for a festive Christmas colored tea.

Ingredients: Organic Chinese Tea, Safflower, Organic Natural Flavoring

Recommended Brew Time: 4 minutes
Recommended Amount: 2 teaspoons of tea for 8oz of water
Recommended Temperature: 180 F

A cold and rainy day + frustrated with the report I’m working on = Time to put it aside and sipdown some tea! (because I’ll be more productive after a break, right?)

This is rich and custardy, yet light and refreshing. Basically the delicious enigma that is Butiki. This was a good buddy to me, but since the summer is (supposedly) coming I’ll wait a few months to order this again. It’s totally drinkable year round; it’s just that there are a bunch of summer teas that I want to try in the meantime! Goodbye for now pal; I’ll see you again before you know it!

Eggnog oh eggnog! you make me happy… (backlog)
Yup, this does remind me quite a bit of eggnog. Creamy and sweet, with just a hint of egg tart. It goes surprisingly well with a green base. That was certainly unexpected!
Now, I’m not the biggest fan of greens in general, so I would have preffered to see a black or oolong base. However, I think that the flavour and base were paired exceptionally well, and so I can’t possibly begrudge the fact that this is a green.
Next time, I think I’ll have it with 1/2tsp of sugar (first infusion). It’s awesome without, but I added some sugar to the second one and oh my goodness that was incredible, albeit a bit weaker. I can only imagine how super tasty it’d be on the first!

Sil

I need to try this!

Indigobloom

Let me know when we can get together and I’ll give you some! better do that soon though, not sure if this will be reblended after the holiday season and I think it’s repurchasing, though I probably won’t be able to…

Sil

yeah, stacy’s said all the holiday blends will remain as long as they’re selling. I’m going to be picking up the plum pudding and the 3 friends one for sure but id love to try this before i get around to placing that order in case i love it.

Indigobloom

oh good to know, I wasn’t aware of that. Just realized that I meant to say *worth repurchasing heh.
I have a sample of the Plum Pudding, I’d be happy to send it your way once I try it!

Butiki Teas

Yep, the holiday teas should be around for quite some time. They might get pulled for the summer season but that depends on sales. We still have 2 holiday teas that are being worked on (a little late, I know).

Sil

Stacy – never too late for super fun YAY teas from butitki. Besides, this gives everyone something to brighten up their january!

Butiki Teas

Thanks Sil! I would rather be a little late then sell something that I think can still be improved. So far that Praline Sweet Potato Pie is tasting pretty good. :)

Sil

i plan on doing my comparision on my tea today so i should also be able to get you my notes on that soooooon! (speaking of working on things)

Butiki Teas

Sil-Nice! :)

I really don’t know why I waited so long to try this one. I can’t say I am an Eggnog Guru but I do know what I like and THIS is lovely! Of course I like it BETTER than Eggnog!!!! It smells FAB. Soooo creamy and light and fresh and festive. It’s sweet like brown sugar but creamy like heavy cream – but VEGAN style! Woot!!!! This may be the 8th wonder of the world right here! It’s amazing!

YUMMO!

Sil

i love this one…

I went a little heavy on the leaf and Yummm! So creamy and silky! However, I’m really sleepy still, I think I need to switch to something stronger!

Thank you Satsuma for sending me some more of this tasty tea! I haven’t quite committed to purchasing this tea (mostly because I think I prefer the idea of it to the actual taste) but I do enjoy getting it in swaps every now and then. Today’s cup is more creamy and eggy, with a slight vegetal base (though not unpleasant, just present) as opposed to the vanilla bean ice cream I make this out to be in my mind. Still good though :)

Backpeddling a little:
For a tea to drink on the way to my gig today, I made a travel cup of this creamy eggnog. It is sweet (with the addition of stevia) & creamy, & definitely has an eggy creamy taste, with a hint of nutmeg. Not something I’d purchase, but a pleasant diversion.

We used to make homemade eggnog when I was a kid all the time (that was our version of instant breakfast). In later years it required a shot of rum or brandy. I haven’t had it for a long time, but I’m thinking I could make some with eggs, coconut milk, vanilla, & nutmeg. That sounds good!

I’m actually unable to drink eggnog. I’m allergic to an enzyme in many dairy products and eggnog is painful for me. I drink the Silk version, but it’s not the same.

So when I saw this at Butiki, and it was on sale, I had to get it!

This has to be one of the best Christmas-type teas ever. It’s so creamy, but not heavy. It’s eggnog-y with a hint a spice (this may be power of suggestion). The flavor is pretty light, which is my only complaint. I bet this would be amazing iced, but there is no way my limited supply will make it to spring so I can try it iced! :)

I wish this could be year round, or part of the permanent Christmas-time collection! (hint hint, nudge nudge) :)

Sil

it is year round…or at least until sales decrease. She might make it go away in the summer she’s said, but it will be back :)

Butiki Teas

^Yep. As long as the sales are enough for me to justify keeping it year round I will. It might be out of stock for a few months in the summer but not sure yet.

KeenTeaThyme

Oh! Sweet! I couldn’t find it the other day, but I’ll keep hunting before my next order. Thanks guys! :)

Kittenna

Last year, I found the most amazing and delicious soy eggnog ever. In a 1L non-refrigerated Tetrapack. Wish I could remember the brand; all I remember is that the packaging had red and white. It was the closest thing to real eggnog I’d ever tried, and with about half the calories! (I can drink eggnog, so the calorie reduction was definitely the more important part for me).

Full review on the 19th here http://sororiteasisters.com/
For now the snippits:

There is such a sweet and subtle spice in this tea but the vanilla cuts it so that it does not come off on the palate as a spiced tea at all. I get just a hint of a note of nutmeg in the cup. The tea sits somewhat heavily on the palate and the mouthful is very creamy indeed. So unexpected from such a light colored tea, which is a clear, and pale, sunny yellow.

I tell you, this tea is screaming to be created into a latte with some frothed milk or milk substitute sitting on top! Add a little nutmeg or cinnamon – sinful … I’m going to go do that right now!

This is not actually in the review on SororiTea sisters but Steepsters – GET SOME it is SO SO SO Good!

Butiki Teas

So glad you are liking this one. We have had such a frenzy of purchases with 10-20 half ounce bags of this tea since we put it on sale that I’m having a hard time keeping it in stock. I’ve never had so many customers order that quantity of one tea on sale.

Butiki Teas

I meant 10-20 bags per order.

Oh! I’m getting really excited about Christmas and all of the yummy holiday treats. I’m not usually a big eggnog drinker because it’s so rich, but I will have a few sips. Being a huge lover of creamy teas, this one sounded like a dream.

This tea is buttery, silky and relatively mild. The flavoring and tea blend so well together and I’m happy to say that I don’t taste any sharp vegetal notes. This one is all about that wonderful eggnog creaminess. I love that there is no nutmeg or spice as I don’t really like either. FINALLY a holiday tea without the distraction of those darn spices! This is a fantastic winter delight!

LiberTEAS

I’m the same way when it comes to eggnog. My hubby loves the stuff, but, I usually only have about 1/4 of a glass because it’s too rich for me. But this is amazing! The perfect alternative to eggnog.

LiberTEAS

although… I do like nutmeg in my eggnog. LOL

Azzrian

GAH I really need to get my hands on some of this!

Ashley Bain

I cannot wait to try this! Such a good alternative!
