226 Tasting Notes
I am a terrible night owl. On my days off I cannot help but stay up till 3 or 4 sometimes 5 in the morning and then sleep until 12-2 in the afternoon. I got up at 11:00 today and already feel that fuzzy feeling that tells me I didn’t get enough sleep.
At any rate when I woke up I knew I wanted to start the day with this tea.
I taste a faint hint of carroty cake in the tea…not terribly distinct…a bit disappointing because I adore carrot cake almost as much as my Dad does. (Preferably with real cream cheese frosting…not that sickingly sweet crap that some places put on the cake, then I end up having to scrape it off.
But, despite that…I am not at all apposed to getting more of this, because I do taste some other flavor that just makes me want to have more.
Jury is out on whether or not I’d recommend this tea however:)
I found the title and description of this tea interesting, so in it went, even though I am not a fan of sweet and spicy.
While I’m not opposed to having a few samples of this hanging around for days where an odder tea is needed, I don’t think I would want a full ounce of this…it would surely go stale before I could drink all of it.
Flavors: Strawberry
Preparation
For the past couple of weeks, I’ve been buying alot of tea. My mother is on a long vacation and since she is…less then enthusiastic about my tea addiction, this is an ample opportunity to buy as much as I can. So far, I’ve bought 9 teas from David’s Tea, (And planning on buying more in March.) Lupicia’s happy bag of which there were 9 teas, will be getting Kusmi’s Essential Teas set (Bought the set from Amazon, because I was having trouble with buying from Kusmi’s site. And lastly planning on buying samples from Fusion along with an ounce or 2 of teas I know I love.
But anyways, while drinking this tea is not like drinking a cup of eggnog…its still an tasty and interesting cup.
I ordered 2 7 teas sample packs and 1 3 tea sample pack, and completely by mistake put 8 teas down on the comments when I ordered, so they were nice enough to include this tea as 1 cup sample. I wasn’t planning on ordering again from Quarter to Tea till at least this summer, but I might be inclined to buy again, particularily this tea.
It has a very faint soft minty taste that eggnog has, but more of a eggy-cakey taste that others mentioned.
This tea is very good cooled down, but I get the feeling that it wouldn’t taste all that great cold. But I could be wrong.
Flavors: Eggnog
Preparation
I drank this last night, but then decided to wait till today to write it…wanted to drink a few wine coolers and binge watch Murder, She Wrote on Netflix.
I don’t usually read reviews of a tea before I drink it, but I was apprehensive about this one. In the past alot of cherry flavored tea tends to taste like cough medicine shudders (To this day I can’t abide the liquid form!) But luckily the reviews that I read did not display that particular taste.
1st smell out of the bag: sweet, almost cloyingly sweet.
1st smell as it was steeping: Not quite as sweet…almost had a complex smell.
1st taste: Very sweet and sour cherry like. Like if you ate a handful of the sweet and sour. There is however an odd aftertaste that I am not crazy about.
Aside from my dislike of anything that tastes like medicine, I am not a huge cherry fan. When it comes to fruit I prefer Strawberry, Peach or Grape (Which the majority of teas I’ve had with those flavors I tend to be disappointed.) But I love to be surprised by tea.
Who doesn’t?
I am not opposed to grabbing more of this.
Preparation
Can’t remember what # this is right now.
1st smell is nice…a touch fake strawberryish but not bad. 1st taste: Meh. Not terribly inspiring I’m afraid. Another for the summer iced teas pile.
Or maybe I will try this again as a latte as another person has tried.
Preparation
4th tea from Lupicia Happy Bag.
I woke up at Noon with this tea in mind, so nothing was going stop me from having it!
As someone else mentioned, this is a good breakfast tea…though not a tea on the go…more like lazy weekend mornings that you can just sit and enjoy/read the newspaper/book/magazine/etc.
I am not in love with this tea, however I am not at all opposed to ordering this.
Uh Oh….I have a feeling I will be making a Lupicia order before March ends…And I had already decided to make another Davids Tea buy for my birthday, and I just ordered quite a few samples from A Quarter of Tea aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaannnnnnnndddd I want to order the 25 Essential Teas set from Kusmi and more samples from Fusion.
Guess I’m more then making up for not buying much if any tea in the last 2 years or so.
Hmm…
Anyways…back to this tea, so even though not in love with this tea, I think I like it enough that I will want to buy more…though maybe I should wait till I finish the bag…lol.
It’s sweet, but not obnoxiously sweet, a nice nutty flavor (Though truthfully kind of burnt out on nutty flavors in tea.
Preparation
3rd from the Lupicia Happy Bag.
For some reason upon the 1st taste of this tea, it reminded me of Genmaicha, and so now I can’t get that out of my head. Not that that makes it a bad cup…it’s just that I mostlikely wouldn’t get this again.
I am a bit sad because I’ve yet to have a tea from Lupicia that yells at me to grab more of right away. Oh well, the way it goes I’m afraid.
Flavors: Nutty
Preparation
2nd tea from the Lupicia Happy Bag.
My most favorite juice in the world is Welsh’s White Grape-Peach (The one without the peach is terrific too.)
Sadly I’ve yet to find a grape flavored tea that I really like. This tea is ok, might be much better as an iced tea though. There is an odd after taste but it goes away to quickly for me to be able to define it.
Flavors: Grapes
Preparation
My 1st review from my Lupicia Happy Bag! grins
I had trouble finding a pair of scissors to open this bag, so used a knife…Gah. That was a pain in the ass.
Even though I was distracted by removing the last little part of the bag, I still smelled the highly intense peachy smell. I wanted to have this today because I wanted to forget for the moment that there is a bunch of snow on the ground…Sad Face
I like the taste, but it reminds me alot of Peachy Keen a white tea that I used to get at a local tea store. Considering that, not sure I’m keen on ordering this tea.
I might save the rest of this for the summer for iced tea.
Flavors: Peach
