90 Tasting Notes
I really wish this tea was doing it for me this morning but for whatever reason my stomach is upset today and the raspberry in this is making it worse :( Looks like I’ll be sipping some ginger tea today… Still a good cup though taste wise, I’m getting the coconut first, nice and creamy, and then the raspberry comes and gives it a pop.
I was far too excited to try this tea. It didn’t meet my expectation but it was still delicious none the less. The dry leaf smell is so deceiving! It smells sickeningly sweet. When I brought it home from the shop and opened up the tin for the first time the entire downstairs of the house smelled like birthday cake. I didn’t really think this tea was going to need a lot if any sugar at all. Brewed, I’m not even sure how to describe this tea. The sprinkles add a texture and taste I cannot identify. It’s almost oily, but not quite. Like those little Christmas tree cakes Gram used to buy me as a kid. It has the eggy cake batter taste and you definitely get the vanilla. Overall, a great tea, just needs a tsp. of sugar :)
Preparation
Today was slow on the tea drinking due to a sudden desire to clean. I made this this morning and it was delicious but I didn’t brew it strong enough. I tasted just like the coffee cakes I get at the grocery store! It was a sweet taste with just enough cinnamon to make it pop :) I will be ordering some for more taste testing because this also was a sample packet in my order.
Preparation
Positively disgusting! My mother gave me this tea as a gift because she knows chocolate teas are my one true tea love. I’m not sure what happened here… berries (sour berries) overpowered the chocolate the chocolate undertones must’ve been dar chocolate because they were bitter. I tried to redeem this with all sorts of methods. I tried it with no sugar, with a ton of sugar, with milk, just a touch of honey; this tea was not redeemable. I ended up dumping the whole thing in the toilet… I wouldn’t even try to pawn it off it was so bad.
I placed an order to Davids on the 27th, first of all my order came three days early (boo ya!) second, i got 3 of the christmas flavors in my samples :) . Sleigh Ride was one. I wish I had known this tea was so good before I ordered! I used the new thermometer/timer I ordered and I got a perfect cup :) Equally blended apple, cinnamon and hibiscus :) That being said, I’m sitting in my house by myself in my pi’s watching my friends on my FB feed and TV party it up… I’m too young for this.
Preparation
I like this tea, I don’t love it, I just like it. It is a very nice spicy tea admittedly, but maybe just a bit too spicy for me. I like to add this tea to the Coco Caramel Sea Salt and it’s perfect. This is a good tea to mix in with other teas, not so great on it’s own. What I’m really excited for with this tea is to cook with it! I got a recipe for chicken rub and I want to make it for a Superbowl party at college. Here’s the recipe incase you are feeling adventurous!
1 tbsp. Teavana Samurai Chai Mate Tea
2 tbsp. rosemary leaves
2 tbsp tarragon
sea salt to taste
Directions
Skin and trim your chicken legs
Prepare the rub(s) of choice
Cover an oven safe pan with tinfoil and lightly coat with olive oil
Brush each chicken leg with olive oil, coat it with your rub and place the leg on your pan
Let the drummies sit for a couple hours (to best soak up all the flavor)
Then, preheat oven to 400 degrees
Bake for 28-30 minutes
I love the dry leaf smell, so orangey with a nice chocolate note and that earthy smell. I watched this tea brew in the cup and oh my goodness I thought I made coffee! It was SO DARK. Once brewed I could smell the earth tones the most and thought “oh no I’m in trouble…” I took one sip of it without sugar, I thought I was going to gag it was so strong! I threw 2 tsp. of white sugar in it and watered it down, a little better. It was my first time buying/making pu’erh tea so I’m fairly sure I did something wrong because no tea will put hair on your chest like this one does! Someone help me!
Preparation
I loved this tea! I bought it during the 2012 Heavenly Sale only 2oz to make sure I liked it and then never got around to buying it again. Now I find out this tea is being discontinued! I did buy 4 more oz but still sad this tea is going. The berries are what really shows up in this tea, the basil gives it a slightly savory taste, but it makes the tea. Ah, well, only the good die young…
I love this tea also. I hope your stomach feels better soon.
thanks!
Go away, nasty stomach ache!
