90 Tasting Notes
I bought 6oz of this tea strictly to make it iced. The weather is turning to spring and I wanted plenty of good iced teas to choose from and I don’t drink soda. This has a strong citrus smell when it was dry but when it was brewed it was more eucalyptus than I expected, which was nice because it was nice and cool and refreshing.
Preparation
This tea is certainly an acquired taste. I got this as a sample in my Moms DavidsTea box. She doesn’t like the way it smells so she gave it to me to try. I really liked it at first but the more I drank it the less minty it was and the more it tasted like just plain cucumber water. Granted it was only a sample size so if I were to buy it I would make it stronger.
Preparation
I actually got the second steep on this tea, my roommate made the first, I have had this on the first steep before though so I shall compare the two.
Steep 1: Lots of strawberry, mildly earthy nothing overpowering in the pu’erh. I really am a huge fan of strawberry so I loved it.
Steep 2: Almost no strawberry present. It has a strong earth taste, though it’s not bad I was just disappointed that my roommate got all the strawberry taste out of it. It almost has an astringent taste.
I recommend only steeping this once.
Finally got up the courage to make this tea again… still not entirely thrilled with it but I didn’t brew it too strong this time so it’s at least tolerable. I won’t be buying this tea again.
Flavors: Dark Bittersweet, Orange Zest, Peat Moss
Preparation
I couldn’t drink it. I took one sip and I had to brush my teeth it was so gross.
This tea made my whole dorm room smell like violets; it is delightful! It tastes just as well too :) Today was particularly exhausting due to unpacking, grocery shopping, and driving for a few hours to the airport and back to pick up a friend; such is college life!
Anyways, This tea was a swap sample sent by James. It has a rich violet taste, very thick but not overdone. The black leaves underneath give it a very woodsy fragrance and a lightness to contrast the violet. I don’t think I would put this in my stash a a staple but it might be a “I need something different in my stash” kind of tea.
Preparation
I had the pleasure of smelling this tea in the store, I wanted to buy it but one of the guys took the canister away and I forgot it. I had to order the 250g bag online without ever tasting it so this one was a very big risk. I was afraid of the chili threads because I’m not a huge fan of spice but I wanted to expand my horizons. I’m glad I did! This tea was good. I’ve been having sinus and ear issues lately and the chilies made everything tingle and open up. It is sweet on the front of the tongue, but going down it has a slightly spicy, tickling sensation; it was very pleasant. I had a few sips of this hot and it was good, but it was also very good iced.
