Cool Cucumber

A sample from Miss B. It seems a little perverse to drink this one hot, but that’s what I’m about at the moment so that’s what I’m doing. I’m also really keen on having a taste of summer to remind me that there will be an end to winter. Now it’s here, it seems keen to stick around. I used 1 tsp of leaf for my cup, and gave it approximately 3 minutes in boiling water. No additions. In terms of flavour, I’m getting mostly honeydew melon with just a touch of cool, refreshing cucumber. It’s sweet, juicy-tasting, and very refreshing. I can imagine this being brilliant iced, but I don’t really have enough to try that and I can guarantee my final tsp won’t still be around once the warm weather finally arrives. Once again, I find myself wishing David’s Tea was more readily available in the UK.

I didn’t like this tea at all.

I only had enough leaf of this for 1 cup so I had to go with hot. I’m absolutely positive it would be lovely cold and or iced though. Even when hot, the melon and cucumber flavours flourished in this delicious black, very tasty and pleasing. It was quite refreshing, especially for a hot tea. It was over 90 degrees out yesterday and this tea helped keep me cool and comfortable. I know it’s currently unavailable, but I would definitely have it again if I could.

I drank this at work yesterday and really enjoyed it.. but it came with some bad thoughts. Here’s my dilemma… the world of loose leaf seems to be quite simple if you stick with a large company like David’s Tea because there are always seasonal flavors, multiple levels of quality, and consistency. Sometimes, not often though, I want to be lazy and give into these larger companies because they do have access to all the pretty looking tins and interesting flavors. However, I find beauty in having a relation with the person who makes the product I purchase. One of the best feels ever is having someone cook for you, write a personal song for you, draw a picture for you… so what about a tea for the voices?
David’s Tea is hella good, I can’t even lie… their selection is great, they have good prices, and people have so many pounds of it that it makes its way around.
Now it’s time for me to deduce the effects of emotions and the consumer when it comes to large corporations and small companies; from emotions we must conclude that logic plays an important part due to the concept of an economy that revolves around fiat money though… thoughts and thoughts.

Anyways, this is crisp, refreshing, and while I still dislike black tea, this was nice :)

Hmm, a tea with cucumber in it, so naturally I was a bit sceptic. But this tea didn’t disappoint! Unseeped, the tea smells very minty. However, the mint taste is not overwhelming: The main taste consists of honeydew melon, with some hints of mint, and the associated “cool” feeling. Cucumber kicks in more like an aftertaste.
Overall a very nice taste combination.

So yes major backlog!

Also I had to spring clean my tea ….sadly. The queen of teas had to retire some where they can only reside in my memory . that is OK. Nothing lasts forever. Especially with tea it is all about the moment. It is the perfect blend of thing/experience to get philosophical
Sometimes you have to give up a tea forever or just once a year. So never take it for granted.

I finally tried it iced today. And it was so good, if not my absolute favourite iced tea ever. Really refreshing. I just had to get over the weird cucumber pieces in the loose tea that resembled pickles. That was a turn off.

I’ve never really done cold brewing before, but suddenly I have the urge to try cold brewing everything. I blame Roswell Strange and aisling of tea and all their notes about delicious cold brews.

So I have SO MUCH of this tea. I picked up the 250g web specials bag, and I love it, but I’m also never going to get through it all. This also just seemed like the perfect tea for a cold brew. And it is! It’s sweet, with melon, cucumber and mint notes, and is ridiculously refreshing cold brewed. All of the flavours come out wonderfully.

I think I’m going to be drinking this one a lot, come summer.

Oh dear. I just ordered 250g of this tea without ever having tasted it before. But it’s on sale!! Gosh I hope I like it, haha. It sounds like the kind of thing I’ll enjoy iced in the summer, and I don’t mind hanging onto it until then if it turns out I don’t want it through the winter.

The reviews here seem mixed, with the hot drinkers often unfavourably comparing it to hot pickle juice (KAK!), while the iced drinkers are raving about its refreshing properties. I went through a pretty long phase of drinking water with cucumber slices in it, and sometimes some lemon and mint, so I feel like this will be a good iced tea for me. Here’s hoping! I should know by early next week…

I cold-brewed a gallon of this in the fridge overnight and hands down it’s the best, most refreshing iced tea I’ve ever had. Ever. It’s got a hint of natural fruity and vegetal sweetness and a nice minty taste that makes this absolutely a dream on hot days. I will never drink Lipton again!

I’m not sure if I’ll brew this hot, though. I dunno how I feel about a hot cup of cucumber.
