553 Tasting Notes
My monthly sub showed up today and this delight was among the three for this month. I was super excited to try this blend since I’ve been eyeing it on her site. And while I am really enjoying this blend, I’m getting no maple notes at all. What I am getting is this really nice and warming roasted seaweed note. Which takes you by surprise when you are expecting maple. Not a reorder, but a nice cup to enjoy on this cold eve.
Flavors: Roasted, Seaweed
Apparently this was day 9 of the Advent Calendar from Adagio. I wanted to love it because I’m always desperate for banana teas but I just didn’t get a lot of banana. What I did get was a nice enough strawberry slightly chocolate blend with a sweet finish. I might have picked up a banana note here and there but if I closed my eyes, I wouldn’t say this was a Strawberry Banana Split tea. I can see this being another blend my nieces would love.
Flavors: Chocolate, Strawberry
From the Adagio Advent Calendar- think this was Day 3 (yep, I’m behind, haha)
This one I’ve had before. Not one I would brew for myself but would share a pot with my 4 year old nieces or my dad. I can see them both loving this one. I’m not necessarily getting pear- more of a sweet apple and not really getting any solid white tea note either. Not terrible just not one I would necessarily enjoy on my own.
Flavors: Apple, Sweet
This tea is one of the first I enjoyed with my White2Tea club. I decided a few months ago to start dipping my toe more into puerhs and teas that are outside my comfort zone and to my surprise, I’ve started to really really love darker teas and black teas. (I used to be a green tea gal)
This is sadly my last serving of this lovely tea. Sweet, dark, earthy/mushroomy with a thick richness that I can’t put my finger on. (first steeping) Just makes me soo insanely eager for my multiple tea orders from White2Tea to get here already.
Flavors: Earth, Mushrooms, Sweet
Mushroom! My partner is obsessed with the health benefits of mushrooms and I could totally see her being intrigued with this haha.
Courtney: I used to have a tea called Willow from Whispering Pines. It had candy cap mushrooms in it! You might poke around the internet and see if it is available anywhere.
And Friday Afternoon has a blend that is amazing with mushrooms, figs, and elderflowers. Sounds like a super weird combo but I love it. https://fridaytea.com/products/druids-blend?pos=2&_sid=81183fdaa&ss=r
Nicole/Cuppageek – a package arrived from Friday Afternoon today addressed to my daughter who only drinks one tea and no others. I dare say it might be a Christmas gift for me! I am betting it has something to do with Avatar because we watched it together in the summer! Maybe Uncle Iroh’s Jasmine? I will know next week!
Today’s tea #2. I actually have been saving this one for a solid wintery day and today was our first snowfall so it seemed appropriate. I was hoping for more eggnog flavoring but I’m also a sucker for eggnog so I may just be a tough cookie to please here. Still incredibly enjoyable and tho the eggnog flavors were subtle, still enjoyed my cup.
Flavors: Cinnamon, Creamy, Nutmeg, Roasted
This will forever be a fav tea of mine and I can’t explain it. It has this weird unique flavor that reminds me of those butter mints that my grandma always had with a hint of candy cane. I can’t pick up any green tea flavor at all . But whenever I see this tea in a grocery store, I get super excited and grab as many boxes as I can. You can’t over steep or under steep the tea either.
Did your grandma hide the butter mints in her dresser drawer under the fancy nighties like mine did? (She showed me where to find them, and I’m sure she didn’t tell any of my cousins ;)
I used to make butter mints. When my son was a toddler I found him in the kitchen with his mouth stuffed full of newly cut and shaped mints. I asked if he ate the mints and he shook his head no. I told him to let me smell his breath, and he could barely blow around the mouthful and the peppermint almost singed my eyebrows off.
I’m excited to be back in the swing of things and starting to track my tea journey again. I’ve missed my me tea time and how soul soothing and comforting it was. I’ve also just missed tea minded peeps . . .
So I thought I’d start with this delight I enjoyed earlier today. I will do a proper review on SororiTea Sisters soon but wanted to jot down a few notes for later.
I truly enjoyed this blend- you pick up on all of the primary flavors like the strawberry and the caramel. The strawberry flavor is a bit in your face but does calm down during the second go. (What I do enjoy about Nerdfelt Teas is I’ve been able to do right around 3-4 steeps with her blends. ) The caramel is just oh so nice in this blend. And the black tea is subtle but still present. My sample was pretty tiny but out of this tiny packet I was greeted with a lot of flavor. I’m pretty excited to think about what a full blown serving would be.
Might be a contender for an order later on.Flavors: Caramel, Strawberry
Dustin, not doing their advent. I wanted to but thought I’d wait and do an order in Jan instead once the shipping issues get a bit better, etc.
