This just tastes like a genmaicha to me. Perhaps it is age since its a year old. I maybe get the slightest hint of a custard-y flavor but I am drinking this along side an eggnog latte and the main flavor in this one is the brown rice.

AJRimmer Advent Day 21

I’ve always liked 52teas genmaichas. This has that roasty rice gen flavor to it. It seems a little creamier than others. The finish is very creamy as well. I’m not picking up on any nutmeg and the nutmeg/cream combo is what really sells things as eggnog for me. Even without the impression of nog, this is still a really tasty cup!

Today’s tea #2. I actually have been saving this one for a solid wintery day and today was our first snowfall so it seemed appropriate. I was hoping for more eggnog flavoring but I’m also a sucker for eggnog so I may just be a tough cookie to please here. Still incredibly enjoyable and tho the eggnog flavors were subtle, still enjoyed my cup.

First snow, woot!

gmathis

We got frosting last night, but it also left some black ice in our little hollow. Both hands on the wheel this morning!

mrmopar

We had it as well. Ice to start with and then snow.

An Ode to Tea challenge – E

All you naysayers!  This very very much tastes like eggnog to me.  I can’t see it tasting more like eggnog unless it was actual eggnog.  This might be the first ever actually tasty eggnog tea!  Raising the rating from 86 because of it. Low temp and only a minute on the first steep really lets the flavor pop.  Sad to see it go.

I have a soft spot for 52Teas genmaicha blends. This one is a bit creamy, but no eggnog to my palate. Still very enjoyable, but I would’ve loved to see some rich/eggnog flavors.

All these genmaichas taste the same to me, but I love them all. I can’t really say there’s anything eggnog about this, but it does have some softness added to the usual toastiness. It’s quite tasty, like all 52teas genmaicha, but I would have really liked to taste some eggnog in there.

enjoyed this one but it wasn’t particularly eggnogg-y in my opinion. But it was a nice change of pace given i haven’t had a genmaicha in a while.

2022 Sipdown 76/365!

Mastress Alita’s Sipdown Challenge March 2022: Tea from a woman-owned company

E is for… Eggnog Marshmallow Treat!

Well… this prompt wasn’t exactly hard, especially since I’m going through my 52teas stash, and have a nice stash of Butiki, Dessert by Deb, and A Quarter to Tea as well! (I imagine that I have teas by other woman-owned companies as well, these four are just the most obvious).

This is another kind-of-cheating sipdown, where I still have another packet of this, although this particular one is actually from the Amoda sub box from Christmas 2019. This is another tea where I never really got much eggnog flavour – it mostly tastes like standard marshmallow treat genmaicha. Which isn’t bad, but is not eggnog.

I had such high hopes for this one :( Normally I find 52Tea really nails their genmaicha flavours, but this one had no eggnog (or nutmeg) or marshmallow. It tasted like any plain genmaicha. Granted, the green was smoother than most green bases, but even smelling the looseleaf bag I can’t smell anything different. Hopefully I got a weird bag and other people get a flavour packed one. No eggnog, nutmeg, creamy, dessert, or marshmallow notes at all in mine.

It’s not strong in mine, but it’s definitely present, and I suspect that if I didn’t have a clean palate, the flavours could be lost entirely.
