Sad Sipdown!

I finished this up yesterday afternoon. I had a nice big cup with a little bit of brown sugar to sweeten it. This tea is sweet, but not overly sweet, just malty enough to be satisfying, and I will miss it.

I love this savory tea! The tomato is slightly sweet and the sage is super strong. It works well with the sweet black base that is just the teensiest bit smoky.

I had it with some fresh mozzarella plus tomatoes and basil from the garden out back. Yum!

I gota sample of this when I was at Bellocq because I was unsure about it since it was based on a darjeeling. I’m glad I did because it’s quite delicious! The coppery bright taste of the darjeeling is tempered by the strength of the spices and the sweetness of the rose. The rose is definitely a hey lement to this blend. Without it the tea would have seemed muddy and dark. The vanilla in this is fantastic! I’m trying to pick out the spicesand I’m getting cinnamon, cardamon, and saffron? I could be wrong about the saffron.

This is definitely a warmth-bringing, cheerful tea! I might just grab up a little more for. Around the holidays.

I’m really enjoying this cup tonight! I’m picking up more spearmint, but my mother swears she smells the lemon from across the room. There is a lovely lemon tang to this. The whole thing reminds me of summer lemonade with mint thrown in. Yummy!

So this tea is a little harsh- maybe I just used too much leaf? It was red, heavy, fruity, slightly charcoal-like, astringent, and almost a little starchy. It left my mouth feeling gritty, but not dry. I’ll try it again, but with less leaf.

I had this last night and Wooooooooeeee! That’s a powerful ginger! It pretty much hit me between the eyes and up the nose! I like all the flavors individually in this blend, but I don’t like how they came together. The licorice and hibiscus just seemed out of balance with the ginger. The valerian root did put me straight to sleep though- not that I’ve had any trouble sleeping lately.

I should be updating a little more frequently now that work is settling down a bit and I’m not so sick of staring at a computer. Also the hot water tap on the cooler at work is still broken, but should be fixed by the end of the week! yay!

I had some of this tea in a travel mug this morning. I made sure to bring something because the hot water on the cooler at work is broken, so I haven’t been able to make tea properly at work. The microwave is really weak and takes forever to get the water anywhere near hot.

This blend is sweet and very heavy on the bergamot. The base is dark and solid. It’s great for a morning tea.

Also I haven’t been posting that much this week or responding as much to your posts. I’ve got a new scheduling system at work and I’ve been busy with tons of minutiae- fixing everything that didn’t convert properly. I’m so sick of staring at a computer screen that when I’m not working, I avoid the computer as much as possible. I’ll catch up a little bit over this weekend.

Sipdown of this sample pack. I enjoyed this the second time around even more. It tasted less muddy, more complex, and sweeter. I like, but I don’t know if I like it enough to restock.

Backlog from Saturday Afternoon

I’ve been a fan of peppercorn in tea since I had Della Terra’s Lemon Pepper Melange. This is a delightfully warming blend. The base is delicious! It is golden-tasting, malty, bready and substantial. I like the peppercorn- it is strong, but not too overwhelming. It’s just enough to spread the warmth of the base. The orange peel does add some sweetness while it is hot, but turns just the slightest bit bitter as it cools, but that’s ok because I like this one so much, I don’t think I’d let it get cold. Yum! I have a feeling this will be something I’m going to be having on wintery mornings on my way to work.
