Thanks, Red Cup Tea Company!

This is a very refreshing oolong. It reminds me a little of rose violet calendula oolong by Butiki teas because it has so many prominent, natural floral tones. It’s tastes like violets or orchids. Jade oolong does have much more of a woody kick too it. It’s a powerful flavor that really spreads quickly. There is a light creaminess that prevents the wood from becoming too overwhelming. There is a little drymouth and bitterness to the aftertaste, but not much.

Ack! Steepster ate my note!

Thanks, Little Red Cup Tea Company for this!

This tea is light and bright and just like the description says, it tastes very much like a white tea. It starts out with creamy asparagus. It was almost buttery. There are some orchid-like floral notes that deepen the flavor. The aftertaste is very sweet! It reminded me of fresh lettuce. I’m on my second steep and there’s not a hint of the dreaded dry-mouth.

Thanks to the Little Red Tea Company for sending out some samples! I got excited to try them yesterday when they came because they looked and smelled like some beautiful teas!

The dryleaf looks dark, chocolate-like and rich. It is in smaller pieces as keemun usually is, but bigger than some keemuns I’ve seen. It smells faintly like wood charcoal.

I’m usually disappointed by keemuns in general because they often will leave me with a really dry mouth and a bitter aftertaste, but I have not had this problem with this tea. It is full-bodied, rich, and smooth- no astringency!

The flavor of the liquor starts out with dark roasted green beans, but soon morphs into a wine-like flavor that reminds me of Merlot. There are slightly earthy undertones that sometimes taste of mushroom and sometimes of grass or dandelions. The aftertaste has a lovely warmth, which reminds me a little of golden brown bread. It does a nice job contrasting the main fruity flavors, which could have been too dark and one-note.

Overall this is a lovely, dark, and roasty tea that I would enjoy having again in the mornings to get me going.

Thanks, greenteafairy, for this tea!

We were all joking at the last tea meet-up that this smelled like olives and since nobody else wanted this tea I decided to take it, be brave and make my olive-loving Greek ancestors proud.

And guess what? There is an olive-like flavor too this tea. This rooibos is particularly fruity and the cinnamon and cloves help to bring out those notes even more. It’s almost as if I were eating an olive while chewing on some big red gum. Strangely enough I kind of liked it. It just worked for me. I could see how someone with different tastes and especially people who don’t like rooibos could hate it.

greenteafairy

I’m glad you likes this one… or found it vaguely palatable, anyway. Also happy to know I’m not crazy with the olive thing!

Fuzzy_Peachkin

haha! Yeah. It really has that kalamata, green olive vibe. Are you still coming to the Bellocq meet-up this weekend?

greenteafairy

Funny, I got more of a canned black olive flavor – would’ve preferred kalamata, if I have to have olive in my tea at all ; ) And yep, still coming – I was a little bit on the fence with all of the weekend subway reroutings involved, but I think it’ll be worth it.

I finished up these pearls this afternoon because I was in the mood for something light and bright. It is quite lovely. Natural peach deepened by the jasmine. The base is a really nice, butter, lightly vegetal green tea.

Terri HarpLady

I really enjoyed my samples of this tea. Very light & elegant, with a natural & delicate peach flavor.

Fuzzy_Peachkin

Yeah! I might need t make a teavivre order just for this! :-)

I had this tea this morning with a pumpkin scone. It made a perfect fall breakfast!

I really like the subtle, natural maple flavor.

Tealizzy

Mmm, pumpkin scone!

Fuzzy_Peachkin

I got the scone from Alice’s Tea Cup. It’s kind of messy but oh-so-delicious because it has an amazing glaze on it!

The scent of this tea is mighty powerful and clings to everything. It’s pretty yummy too! The green tea base does get slightly bitter if left for more than a couple of minutes, but it does taste very much like apple pie filling.

Stephanie

I noticed that clinging, too. I didn’t rinse my metal steeper after drinking it, just dumped it out and put some chamomile in. It was pretty appley tasting chamomile LOL

Fuzzy_Peachkin

Yeah. I made the mistake of using this tea in my brand new timolino and EVERYTHING tasted slightly like apples for a little while. :-)

Tealizzy

Ya, it does get bitter if you don’t watch it. My last cup was a bummer after all the previous delicious ones.

There’s more going on with this tea than I originally thought I put a bag in my travel mug this morning and was surprised at how sweet this was even with a very long steep. There was a greeat dark green bean taste to it similiar to some of the mountain blackhiss I’ve tried. I’m glad I gave this a second tasting without milk and sugar. This will be nice for my lazy mornings when I have to rush out of the house.

Nope. Not for me. I really can’t get into these 52tea blends. There is something really harsh about the blends..

ifjuly

That’s been my general takeway too; you’re not alone!

drank Milk Oolong by Tea Horse

There were some milk gummy candies included with the bento boxes that came with our free lunch from one of the drug reps today. So what was better to drink with them than milk oolong! :-)

This is a sipdown and a sad one because it’s so yummy and milky. I really do love the pineapple notes.

I run, I sing, I drink tea. That’s the best description I have of me.

I’ve always enjoyed tea, but have just started trying out a lot more loose teas and varied brands. I’m really excited about a site like steepster so I can read about what people think about different teas.

Oh and I really hate Lipton tea. There’s something just awful about it and I can’t understand why nearly every local diner only has Lipton.

Also I’m on the search for a full-bodied, fruity blackberry tea. So if you have any suggestions feel free to throw them my way! :-)
