I drink this for my afternoon pick me up. its a great tea with a slight chocolate smell and a nutty roasted green tea taste. best with 2 minute steep around 170. good for 2-3 steeps. I use a level tablespoons worth for 6 ounce servings

Wow. Lapsang is my new love.
Peet’s offering doesn’t seem as strong as Xanadu’s, but it offers more in complexity. It’s toastier, with more presence of wood and carbon rather than smoke. If I must compare the two brands… Xanadu’s should be drunk by those with giant mustaches, and Peet’s should be enjoyed by those with neatly trimmed beards.
With so many interesting aromatic elements, it’s equally enjoyable to smell as it is to drink. Let me rephrase that… it’s wonderful to smell!!
Update: tastes better at around 2.5 minutes rather than my usual 3.5 for black teas. Not as papery (what I refer to as carbon).

Friends I was with stopped at Peet’s after lunch today. I wanted to try this Keemun and took the opportunity. The person preparing it for you puts the leaves into a T-Sac and adds the hot water and hands it to you, telling you to remove the leaves after 5 minutes. Ha! I thought to myself. I steep most if not all black teas no more than 3 minutes to avoid bitterness, if a tea is to have any. So I removed the T-Sac after about 3. The brew has a mild version of the “keemun” flavoring, the hint of smokiness and pine, but is not very distinct. I found this to be an ok tea but I’m not sure I’d ever spend the money for a can of this tea. If you like the “keemun” flavoring like I do, there are some fantastic Keemuns out there.
Preparation
Not bad. Here’s my trick though!! Turn this not bad tea into an Amazing Taste Adventure. Go out and buy some decent local honey. Get a little airtight 1 cup size container. Put in tea, put in a bunch of honey to cover it up, then let it sit and soak in for a week. You now have epic “HONEY TI KWAN YIN”!!! enjoy the win!
