A mellow China pouchong tea naturally scented with jasmine flowers. Also available in tea bags.
Jasmine is a native of the Persian Gulf area, and was brought to China sometime before the third century A.D. Jasmine-scented teas have been made for at least 800 years, with the finest produced in the province of Fujian. “Pouchong” tea is used as the base, a style of green tea that has slight oxidation, and the resulting cup of Jasmine Fancy has an amber hue. The scenting is a natural process, involving mixing the leaves with fresh jasmine flowers so that the tea absorbs the scent. Contrary to popular belief, the better grades of jasmine tea have the least amount of petals remaining in the finished tea. The dry petals lose their scent to the tea, and removing the spent petals results in a more concentrated flavor.

They can’t say I didn’t give them a chance. Trying this tea made me feel like I was drinking melted candy with cheap perfume. The jasmine aroma was completely overwhelming and the taste was worse than Peet’s Matcha Latte. I barely made it through half a cup! Maybe they over-steeped it? We’ll see… I got an extra tea bag so I’ll try making it at home tomorrow.
I like this tea. It’s usually what I go with when I go to Peet’s. Even when you leave the bag in for a long time it’s not overwhelming. I’ve bought it a few times to have at home too.

Hi Steepster. I am so far behind on tasting notes it’s kind of ridiculous. There is just no time to taste teas with me being at work all of the time and being gone a lot on the weekends. Sad but I hope you haven’t missed me too much ;)
Recently got this at a Peet’s for cheap. They are discontinuing their tea line and bringing in the Mighty Leaf brand. I find this to be kind of a bummer and wish I had tried more of the Peet’s teas when they were around.
So jasmine does not tend to be a super favorite of mine. But if it’s done well it’s ok. I used two teabags in my tall glass tumbler. For a bagged tea, this isn’t too bad. The jasmine seems fairly strong and the tea itself has a vegetal quality that ends on a sweet note. I find some jasmine teas to be a bit bitter but this is pretty good. I definitely prefer the high quality jasmine pearls as the flowery flavor is more subtle. Might try using one less teabag the next time to give it more of a watered down & subtle effect.
I will probably end up giving the rest of this to my boyfriend if he wants to drink it (he likes the convenience of teabags). If you live near a Peet’s and want to try any of their teas, you need to act fast!
I have missed your reviews! You were one of the most reliable reviewers on my feed. But I understand—I drink a lot of tea at work and then forget to post or I won’t buy tea for a bit and therefore have nothing new to review.
Hi Doug, thanks! It seems like the only time I am at home is on the weekday evenings when I am not inclined to drink any ea. I’ll try to step it up a bit in the next few weeks :)
This is the brand that turned me on to Jasmine tea and helped me realize that green tea can be palatable. It’s highly fragrant both in the bag and as a brew. The first time I bought a cup, I couldn’t stop smelling it. Kudos to Peets for producing the best bagged green tea I’ve had!
