drank Riesling by Joy's Teaspoon
310 tasting notes

So far, I think this is my favorite of the three free samples from Joy’s Teaspoon. I’ve been intrigued by these ‘wine’ teas so I had to try this one.

I’m actually not sure I brewed it long enough, so any advice would be welcome on that. I brewed ~3 tsp in 12 oz of 185 degree water for 2 min. I read on some sites to brew white tea for up to 15 min, but previous teas I’ve had said 1-2 min on the package. confused

Even being unsure about whether I brewed it long enough, it still tastes great. I’m thinking that it has more flavor to be extracted though. It’s a beautiful golden color, just like a riesling. It’s fruity and floral. The fruity flavor is a bit like grapes and a bit like strawberries. The floral flavor leans towards a jasmine flavor. The smell is somewhat candy-like. I added a tiny tiny smidge of agave nectar to bring out the riesling-like sweetness.

This is definitely an interesting one that you should try.

Update – as it cools the floral flavors are becoming stronger, so maybe I did steep it long enough.

drank Spicy Pear by Joy's Teaspoon

This is my second free sample from Joy’s teaspoon. This tea is very tasty. It is exactly what’d you expect based on its description.

I brewed it with 1.5 tsp per 12 oz for 3.5 min to ensure that the black base didn’t get bitter. It had no bitterness or astringency after 3.5 min.

I’d love to see this same tea on a white tea base.

I really like this one! I ordered a tin of it!

Kristin

I think I would order a tin if it was a white tea. :) But yeah, it’s pretty darn good.

drank Sweet Melissa by Joy's Teaspoon
310 tasting notes

This is my first of 3 samples from Joy’s Teaspoon. I can’t believe how fast the samples arrived. I emailed Joy on Saturday and they were waiting in my mailbox on Monday.

This tea is nice. Brewed, it smells lemony. Like a lemon sucker or maybe even lemon pledge (not in a completely bad way). The taste of the tea is lemony and orangy, but not as lemony as the smell. It also tastes of herbs that I cannot identify and something almost savory, which I am guessing is the carrot.

Yep, this tea is very interesting. I like it and I’m looking forward to the other samples. I’ll leave you ins suspense about what my other two samples are (or you can try and guess).

(I only wish it was available in decaf.)

Last of the free samples from Joy’s Teaspoon, thanks again and now I will have to make some decisions about what to order!

Many different flavors in this green, the flowers and fruit are front row, the Jasmine is subtle but there. As with all the samples, pure Joy.

KeenTeaThyme

OMG – this sounds amazing! I must try! :)

YUM YUM YUM!!! Very very good. Just a nice tea for everyday drinking. The black and green teas mingle nicely with the slight hint of fruit.

Thanks Joy’s Teaspoon for the sample!

drank Spicy Chai by Joy's Teaspoon

More free samples from Joy’s Teaspoon!

I enjoyed this very much, I agree a lighter Chai, not as heavy on the spice as others.
Light but still full of flavor, a good option if you want less than full spice…

This is a very interesting tea. It’s a sweet dessert tea, but the flavor is grounded by something in it that is almost savory tasting. There are hints of coffee, cream, caramel and toffee. The mouthfeel is creamy and there is a prominent cheesecake aftertaste. I just wish the chamomile hadn’t been included in the mix, as I think it probably brings down the flavor of the tea a bit. A very nice, unique tea. Prepared with stevia.

Whoa – cinnamon and almond perfection! The only thing is, this doesn’t taste like any almond cookie I’ve ever had, it’s actually better. The flavor is a great mix of caramelized almonds and bakery-like cinnamon goodness. Unlike many teas, the cinnamon is not at all overpowering. There is a bit of apple flavor from the apples used in the base, but it doesn’t interfere with the almond cookie flavor at all. I will be hoarding my sample of this and not sharing any of it with others. It’s all mine! Prepared with stevia.

I can best describe this as sweet, creamy lemon. It is amazingly delicious. Thank you Joys Teaspoon for sending me a sample. I may have to make this a permanent addition to my extensive collection.

drank Cinnamon Roll by Joy's Teaspoon

This is the third sample I received from Joy’s Teaspoon. This is a nice lighter cinnamon tea. The cinnamon is not hot spicy cinnamon more subtle cinnamon. This tea has a bakey feel to it. It was a pleasant cup. Thanks again Naomi for the samples! I have definitely added the spicy pear and creamsicle to my shopping list!

Free samples from Joy’s Teaspoon arrived today! Snow on the ground, another cold evening.
Perfect conditions to try Winter Wonderland. Anise is up front, love the balance of the black tea and spice. Makes me wish Winter will hang on for a while. Come on groundhog! Don’t let me down. Thanks Joy for a great cup tonight.

Let me start by saying – I was terrified to try this tea. I haven’t truly had Pu-erh before (just a blend that contained a tiny bit of it). The smell dry was pretty good. Once I started steeping the smell was scaring me a little. Luckily, my fears were unfounded. The taste is hard to describe. It is lemony and slightly earthy, with the faintest hint of an almost pine-like taste. The texture is a bit thick and syrupy, which I like. I’m not totally sure what I think of this one yet, but I’m pretty sure I like it. Prepared with stevia.

drank Creamsicle by Joy's Teaspoon

Backlogging….The girls and I each enjoyed some of this last night. My mom received some samples from Joy’s Teaspoon and requested this one since she knew her grandbabies loved it. They were so happy when Grandma brought them some “orange” tea! We had a little tea party. Even my youngest (15months) loves this one!!! Will have to place an order again soon!

Kristen

The girls are soon going to have to have their own tea cabinet just for them!

QuiltGuppy

My kids are starting to make requests for certain teas, too. They refer to them by the colors of the canisters. :)

Uniquity

Start ’em young! I wanted to have a little tea party with my three year old cousin…I need to bring some of my many non-caf teas to her sometime : )

This is so good on this cold winter day here in Pennsylvania!!! Reminds me of the warm days of summer. My daughter and I enjoyed this sample tonight. She really liked it because it was gone in no time! She actually asked for more but between my huge mug and hers the sample was gone. Looks like that one will go on the order as well. The orange is not too tangy and the yogurt gives it the taste very close to a creamsicle popsicle!! When I do order this one I want to try it iced. I think it would be super yummy on ice! I appreciate Naomi sending me this sample. So far I am really enjoying Joy’s Teaspoon’s teas!!

DecemberMint

Wow! This sounds amazing!
I may have to hunt some down :D

Kristen

It is! I have to place an order for this very soon. My daughter has been actually asking for the “orange tea”. She really enjoyed it too!

Like a certain Jim Carrey movie (that I’m sure had something to do with the naming scheme) this exceeded my preconceived pu-erh notions. I had no idea how to identify the scent of this – just like Joy’s Schnozberry blend – but the end result in taste was something like chocolate oranges mixed with lemon. I think? I dunno…

Point is, I liked it a lot.

drank Spicy Pear by Joy's Teaspoon

Enjoyed a cup of this today at work… unfortunately I am not having any more tea for at least this evening. :( Tea is reeking havoc with staining my pearly whites but I am lucky enough to work in a dental office and am in process of whitening my teeth. At least I can keep on with my habit and still maintain WHITE teeth!!

ChariTea

Tea has stained my teeth too :( ahh!

Caitlin

Me three :( Totally worth it though!

I brush with baking soda and a bit of salt. That is what my Mom made me do when I was a kid. We drank a lot of iced tea back then! I sometimes add a few drops of peppermint oil.

Really enjoying this one! It is so nice outside, but for some reason I am freezing in my house! Ugghh! This tea is helping. Also just resteeped for another pot. This resteeps nicely.
I am hoping this is not a seasonal tea! If it is Joy’s Teaspoon please let me know so I can stock up before it disappears!! :)

KeenTeaThyme

I love that you can resteep the teas from Joy’s Teaspoon. I’ve got to try this one next. Right now I’m addicted to Riesling. :) (And I realize that makes me sound like a drunk, but I mean the TEA! lol)

JoysTeaspoon

It’s not seasonal! Good news, right? We carry this one year round. And KeenTea, The first step to recovery is admittance!

I am finishing up the sample Joy’s teaspoon sent me. This is definite on my order list!! You know a tea is good when crave another cup, and this one I craved!! I was so glad I had enough leaf to make another cup.
I added a touch of rock sugar this time and it bumped up the sweet/juiciness of the pear. Very nice! I am increasing my rating on this one because I am going to miss it until I place my order.

Paul M Tracy

This sounds great. I’ve been seeing a lot of good reviews for Joy’s Teaspoon recently.

Kristen

It is very good! I don’t know if she is still sending samples out, but if you email naomi@joysteaspoon.com 2 or 3 sample requests she was sending them out for free. It was such a great way to try her teas, and I just placed an order for a tin of the spicy pear.

This is my first tea from Joy’s Teaspoon. She kindly sent me 3 free samples and they arrived super fast! Very impressed with the speed. I am also impressed with this tea.
It has a sweet pear taste… but not overly sweet. The pear taste is also like a ripe juicy pear… super yummy! Then right after the juicy pear taste you get a touch of spice. This tastes like cinnamon. Not hot cinnamon like red hots but spice cinnamon like you put on applesauce, oatmeal, etc. This is definite one I would order! I am looking forward to trying the other two samples. Thank you again Naomi!
