What’s that I spy? A cup of wellness on my desk? oh my! After yesterday mornings disaster with Ruby Red I opted to prepare my own tea (though the beau also refused to, so that sort of forced the issue. Luckily, this came out exactly as intended. Today, it is very sweet with a sort of vanilla cream flavour mingled in with the fruity and berry flavours. The lemongrass is always there in the background, playing with the other flavours, as well.

Delicious!

are you currently brewing it warm or cold? Either way I love it too!

Uniquity

I brew everything warm, in general. We’ll see if I come around on iced this summer, but I didn’t really like anything cold last year. Dunno why.

This tea won an Iced Tea award at the World Tea Expo, worth giving it a try I think :)

Backlog:

Yummy nummy. Don’t know if it will help make me healthy, but it tasted great (since I could still taste this morning). Big travel mug kept me warm on my way to work. Perfect!

This mug tastes a little different today – I love the way this is slightly different every time, depending on how much of each component lands in my cup. I am getting something very creamy sweet, mainly with a hint of tartness (maybe the hibiscus). The main flavour has an almost vanilla tone to it, and is really nice and refreshing. Yum yum love love.

Finally having the big mug I was meant to have yesterday. This tea continues to be a favourite in large quantities, especially when I have to head out into the cold world in the morning.

Today I found myself wondering what it would taste like with some mint thrown in, so I might give that a shot sometime. Probably terrible, but I really wanted to give it a go. Another time!

In exciting news, the new travel mug is working out fine so far, though it is nearly identical so that’s to eb expected. Kept my receipt, so I can actually use the warranty this time if necessary.

So happy to have a big tin of this in my life. I left the tea in the travel mug’s infuser for about an hour today, and found that by the end of the hour, the flavour had taken on a new dimension. I don’t know which component all of a sudden took over, but I don’t think I’ve had quite this flavour before. I also had a giant piece of orange in this mug, so that was fun.

I never really know what I’m tasting in here, but I imagine that the main flavours I’m picking up are beetroot, apple and carrot. My problem is that I don’t know how to identify beetroot or carrot in a tea! I almost get a hint of something spicy at the end of the sip, but I don’t know what that is. I think I should steep this according to directions sometime and see what the difference is. For now though, I just love having a tea I can toss in the travel mug and forget about for hours!

A big mug got me through an extra sunday morning at work. Luckily, I finished the project in 2.5 hours. Now I plan on going nowhere today. Yay!

Mmm, no time for breakfast tea this morning, so the beau whipped me up some of this in my travel mug. It’s the sort that’s see through with a big infuser basket, so it’s best for herbals (so the tea doesn’t over-steep, obviously). This mug o’ Wellness has been steeping for nearly an hour now and it’s still delicious. Finally cool enough to drink, too. : ) I used far less leaf than I would have ordinarily because I wanted to save one more mugs worth out of my sample. I placed my order yesterday, but now I need to wait for it to get to Canada. It seems like my tea experience is constantly hurry up and wait lately, lol. Anyway, the decreased leaf quantity actually isn’t hurting the tea at all. I know it could be stronger, but with such a long infusion time it’s come out really flavourful and I find I am picking up different tastes than yesterday. There’s almost a hint of something spicy. Delicious!

My second sample from Joy’s Teaspoon. I feel in love with the smell of this one as well, and the flavour didn’t let me down. It brewed up a bright red liquor, likely from the hibisucs, which I could only barely taste underneath the sip. If you’re not a hibiscus fan, no worries – it’s mostly colour. To be fair, I did steep at half strength again, to ration out my sample until my order arrives. Anyway, I really felt I could taste the carrot occasionally, and in general it was just a nice well rounded cuppa. I felt it got slightly tart toward the end, but that’s inevitable when you let tea sit for a while. : ) Delish!

Oh this is REALLY good! I am so thankful Joy’s Teaspoon so kindly sent me samples because it has introduced me to some more GREAT teas. I placed an order for a tin of spicy pear (a new favorite!) and I received my order in 3 days! super fast! I love the fact that the tea came labeled and in a nice tin. Along with the order they sent me two additional samples… english breakfast and almond cookie! I am drinking the almond cookie now and it is wonderful!
Cinnamon, almond cookie goodness! I am not usually a fan of herbal tisanes but this is one I could definitely see myself placing an order for. Also on a side note my three year old LOVES it! She was so happy when I told her it was a “cookie” tea.

I’m jealous of your 3 day shipping!! Since I chose the cheaper shipping option ($7.50, lol), it takes two weeks to get to Canada. I placed my second order last Tuesday, but according the website it’s still being prepared, : ( (Big downer).

Filled my travel mug with this to get to work this morning. I was a little uneasy at first, especially after my disaster with this a few weeks ago, so I had the beau make sure there weren’t too many fruit chunks in it (Maybe I can eat the extras??) and actually shook out the majority of the tea after about 10 minutes of steeping. Luckily there was a garbage can at my bus stop : )

I think the key to this for me is making sure that there aren’t too many pieces of fruit. I can’t be sure that was the culprit, but I’ve decided to err on the side of caution and am watching how many bits end up in my cup. Today, I was rewarded for this! A nice sweet fruity cup. Over time, I’ve come to find this a bit too sweet and generally enjoy Wellness more, but this is still a great treat in my cupboard, and one that I think will be delicious as an iced tea come warmer weather. In general I am not a fan of iced tea, but maybe this will be the year that changes. I think the sweetness of this tea will really pop.

drank Ruby Red by Joy's Teaspoon

This is not a good day for tea, apparently. Woke up late for the third time this week and had no time for breakfast tea. The beau did up my travel mug with Ruby Red to take me to work, but I get here and taste it and it tastes wrong. I don’t know what the problem is, but it does not taste like the Ruby Red I know and love. It’s too sweet (way too sweet!) and just..not right. Don’t think I’ll make it through this.

The travel mug was cleaned after the last tea I had in it, but this one, I’ve found, holds onto smells like nothing I’ve ever experienced. Hopefully that isn’t the problem, because there’s nothing I can do about that. My last travel mug was plastic, but I did NOT have problems like this with leftover tea smells. I want my proper Ruby Red back! : (

EDIT: I think the problem is that the tin wasn’t shaken up and rather than getting a teaspoon of Ruby Red there is a teaspon of fruit bits with a light hint of rooibos. That would explain the crazy sweet taste. After five brave sips, I’m pouring this out. Terrible morning.

I’m sorry to hear your morning didn’t go well… mornings have been messed up for me too this week. The time change always messes me up! What is your new travel mug made out of? My commute to work tea “cup” is a double walled glass tumbler made by Bodum. It looks like a pint beer glass, but keeps the temperature of my tea higher than anything else I’ve tried so far, is easy to clean and doesn’t suffer from leftover taste/smell. The only problem is it could break, but so far it has been fine.

Uniquity

My guy is plastic…When I was on the hunt for a new tea travel mug there were very limited options in my area, and I prefer to avoid ordering things online for security reasons, but more because I prefer to do things in person and support local businesses. I also require it to be see through (so, plastic or glass) because I love watching tea steep. This is quite similar to my previous plastic travel mug, which the smells never stayed in. it’s been a sad surprise. Davidstea website has a neat looking double glass travel mug, I think I am gonna check out the store near me and see if they have any.

I’m gonna start off with a complaint here. Why does Ruby Red never show up in the first drop-down list off options after typing Ruby Red in the search box? Teas that don’t even have those two words in the title come up first. Very annoying. Happens a lot with my teas. Maybe it’s based on popularity?

Anyway, I brewed up a mug of this to go as I wanted some loose leaf in my morning. I got a different mix this time, more tropical fruitiness. The rooibos is always there, but I love rooibos (apparently!) so that’s fine by me. I picked out an extra chunk of pineapple and threw it in my scoop, and I’ve been realy picking out a pineapple flavour, especially in the aftertaste.

Unfortunately, I’ve got a feeling in my throat that implies an impending sickness. This tea is making me feel happier, though I can see some Detox, mint and ginger teas in my future. For now, I’ll enjoy the lovely tropical Ruby Red (in which I continually want there to be grapefruit. I really want a good grapefruit tea. I don’t even know if that would taste right.)

Big mug of this to get me to work today. I forgot to put the water on in time so it didn’t get as warm as usual – but it was enough to get me through my -15 degree walk. I even missed the bus, but in a stroke of good fortune the driver stopped for me partway down the hill (there are advantages to taking the same bus every morning – Occasionally one lovely driver will take care to look for you!) Now I am finishing up the last traces of my delicious Ruby Red. I actually transferred the last bit to my regular mug as there were bits of rooibos floating around and annoying me, and when I transferred the tea I got a bit hit of pineapple. I can’t imagine why, but all of a sudden I seemed to be able to differentiate flavours. Magic!

Still so yummy…Going on a car trip, so brewed up a travel mug with the rest of my beautiful Ruby Red. Definitely doesn’t have all of the components in it, so it will be an interesting steep. As always, I look forward to the arrival of my order!! : )

Re-steep from yesterday. Despite having used half the appropriate leaf the first time around and adding none the second this cup is still really flavourful. It’s bordering on bubblegum sweet, but I am so impressed to get 2 solid cups out of half the required tea. I can’t wait for my order to arrive and drink proper strength though – get a little bit of everything in my cup. Mmm!

My lovely beau tucked the rest of my sample in my purse…I know I shouldn’t, but I’ve split it into two. I finished Wellness the other day, and I need a bit of emergency Ruby Red to hold me over until my order arrives. I’m so in love with this that I saved my T-Sac for a resteep, despite only having put half as much tea as I ought to have (FYI – still really strong! This is a FLAVOURFUL tea). Hopefully I can get the second steep. : )

My tea is here, my tea is here! Thank you Naomi for these samples. I asked for this one, and Wellness as well. As soon as we opened the packets, the beau and I lost our minds – the smell is absolutely amazing. AMAZING. I started looking up the price online before I even steeped a mug. That is selling power.

I’ve only used one teaspoon for two mugs of tea, because we’ve already decided that this needs to be rationed out until we can get more. Keep in mind that we haven’t even tasted it yet.

Okay, water is boiling. Now I have to wait. I gave the tea about five minutes to steep, because I already knew I didn’t use as much leaf as I ought to have. The smell continues to be amazing. I’m like a child in a candy store. The smell is really sweet and fruity, so if you don’t like rooibos, sweet or fruit, you’ll be displeased. I love all those things!

Tasting time! I’m in love. That’s it. In love. Naomi, please say you’ve established shipping to Canada, at least enough for me to have more of this trotting toward me ASAP! I am going to try Wellness tonight or tomorrow and then my order goes in…

This tea has SUCH a strong lemon dessert scent! It smells like a lemon bar or a frosted lemon sugar cookie. Delish! The taste is a bit more toned down.. but still good. It’s a tiny bit tart, quite sweet and a little bit creamy. This is a great lemon dessert tea! Thank you Naomi!

I removed this tea from its pouch a bit worried. It smelled quite strongly of some kind of alcoholic drink and I was worried that it would taste like it, too! It’s definitely got a calm rooibos flavor and something that tastes like coffee? I can’t taste any of the creamy parts. It’s mostly a coffee-like taste, rooibos and the liquor-sweetness that I don’t really like. It leaves a strange bit of liquor taste in your mouth. I did finish the cup and I did think that it was a smooth drink, overall. I wish I could have tasted the creamy characteristic and that the liquor smell/taste could be removed. I also want to give Naomi a big thank you for sending me a sample of this.
