drank Panyang Congou by Harney & Sons
3226 tasting notes

I was going to drink a sipdown list tea for brekkie today, but couldn’t get into any of the ones I have left. I decided to revisit this tea because it really SHOULD have tasted better than it did last time I had it.

I thought that perhaps since the leaves are so light, thin, and wiry, I had inadvertently underleafed, so I put an extra pinch in the pot.

This was a definite improvement. The tea now had more roasty toasty taste and perhaps even a little hint of smoke, but that may have just been the roast. I must remember to err on the side of overleafed in the future.

This is a good black tea and I believe it is good quality. I think I just usually prefer Keemun when I want strong tea and Queen Catherine when I want more layers of flavor.

Bio

I am a music teacher, tutor, and former homeschool mom (25 years!) who started drinking loose leaf tea about fourteen years ago! My daughters and I have tea every day, and we are frequently joined by my students or friends for “tea time.” Now my hubby joins us, too. His tastes have evolved from Tetley with milk and sugar to mostly unadorned greens and oolongs.

We have learned so much history, geography, and culture in this journey.

My avatar is a mole in a teacup! Long story…
