694 Tasting Notes
I ordered a bunch of samples from Joseph Wesley. I ordered all but the Darjeeling. When the samples arrived they were in cute little tins, but the tins were only labeled with a tag, and half the tags has fallen off in shipping. Hopefully I was able to “guess” at what each sample was correctly.
Yesterday at work I was in a straight black tea mood so I gave this a try. I tried a cup of this after drinking Nahorhabi Assam from H&S. This tea is nice. It is bold, yet smooth. It is malty and packs a punch. This was good and I think with my next cup I will try a splash of milk. In comparison to the Nahorhabi, the Nahorhabi offers a bit of a fruity finish which I really enjoy. This was a nice simple straight up assam. I will definately enjoy the rest of the sample.
This sample is another from KiwiDelight. Thank you!
This is putting me in tea heaven tonight! This is taste slightly sweet, with a honey-sh flavor. This has the wonderful breadish taste and is just pure delicious. As before, I think I like this a bit more than Jin Jun Mei. I think Jin Jun Mei has a much stronger cocoa flavor and this is a bit more bready flavored. They are both wonderful though!
A while back when I started looking for loose leaf tea at places besides Teavana I ordered some Adagio sample packs. At the time I was really interested in trying some flavored whites. I tried the flavored white sample pack and was horrified. Since everything I tried was awful I wrote off Adagio completely. Thinking everything I had from them would be the same quality. I was about ready to give this away, and though well heck I will give it a go. Man I am glad I did. This was a great work tea. The scent and flavor is very strong, but it seems to work. I think this would be a great tea with milk and sugar. This was definitely a sweet hazelnut. I couldn’t identify the base, but it supported the strong flavor. I will be hanging onto this sample and enjoying this as a work tea.
I received a sample of this in my recent H&S order. Thank you!
This was a really nice afternoon cup. It was a nice oolong flavor, slightly floral and the pomegranate really enhance the fruity sweetness of the tea. I didn’t brew this under ideal conditions and it was still pretty great. I am tempted to add a bit of this to my next order during the summer.
I’m not super crazy about this one. I’ll have to give it a try iced, but right now it’s hanging out in the swap box.
This sample comes from KiwiDelight. Thank you!
I tried this back in December when i was first starting to taste straight black teas. It is interesting to read what I thought of it then. I am really enjoying this tonight. I didn’t realize this was such a rare tea. This is coca, with hints of caramel and honey. It is really hitting the spot! Thank you for sharing one of your favorite KiwiDelight. I am glad I got to try this one again.
I mostly drink scented/flavored teas at work. They are easy and I don’t feel guilty about getting the steep time and water temperature all wrong. When I put in an order for more of my beloved Milk Oolong I also added 2 flavored blacks, this one and Garden Grove. I enjoyed this one the other day, and so far it is hitting me as a tea that is very similar to Paris from Harney and Sons. I will have to drink a cup side by side to be sure. I really enjoyed the base in this one and without tasting them side by side I would say that this one wins, but we shall see. This was a very enjoyable flavored tea for work!
This was from the December 2013 Steepster Select box.
It was a really rainy night last night and I really wanted to curl up into a ball under blankets and read. This toasty oolong seemed liked the perfect company. Being the start of summer, I haven’t been drinking too many of the darker oolongs lately. This was a nice treat. Roasty, sweet, lighter oolong. I brewed this gong fu style and it just kept giving and giving and giving. I had to call it quits and go to bed before the tea gave out. I enjoyed this one!
I received a sample of this from Nina’s. Thank you!
This is a light tea that has hints of citrus and floral. The description says pineapple, but I did not get any pineapple. This is seems to be a mood tea for me. The first cup I had didn’t work for me, but I am enjoying a breakfast of fruit this morning and it seems to go nicely with this. Thanks for allowing me to try this one.
I received a sample size of this from QueenOfTarts stash sale. Thank you!
I saw so many positive reviews of this tea so I really wanted to like it, but there was something about it that just hit me the wrong way. This one is not my cup of tea unfortunately.
I just ordered Teabox’s Assam sampler….15 assams to try! What was I thinking?!? :)
Happy to read that you enjoyed the tea. Cheers, Joe
I had the same problem with the tags falling off, hopefully I was able to guess correctly too!
