drank Pumpkin Spice by A Quarter to Tea

This is pretty delicious. I really like the pumpkin in this and the spice works. It isn’t over the top spice. It is light and in the background. The black base works really well with this blend as well. I picked up only a sample of this one because I was a little scare of the base, but it works. A hit.

drank Earl Grey Cream by Zen Tea

This has stood the test of time. I am setting this one up to 100. No matter the day, no matter the mood this tea is always wonderful. Smooth, citrusy, slightly sweet. Perfection in a cup.

Hmmm, I’ve been on the hunt for a new EGC, and this has gotten consistently positive reviews.

TeaTiff

I have had this next to quite a few other EGC’s. This one always won. I can’t remember what made it stand out for me. It was a good balance of cream and berg.

And Canadian, yay! (because murderous exchange and shipping charges) And they are having a Black Friday sale. Details upcoming. http://www.zentealife.com

drank Garden Grove by Gong Fu Tea Shop

The first time I tried this tea it was so astringent, I dumped the entire cup. This time I took care to brew for a shorter time period and waited a bit for it to cool before trying it. It is a astringent black tea with hits of fruit. Not my favorite, but it is okay. I think I will try this one iced and see what happens.

drank Cream Assam by Gong Fu Tea Shop

I really thought I had reviewed this tea before. Oh well. I had this tea this weekend while staying at a friends house near Gong Fu Tea Shop. I had an ounce of this in my collection early in my tea exploration and loved it. I had it again this weekend and loved it again. I hope over the holidays I am able to get to Gong Fu to get some of this and Pacific Breeze. This is creamy and sweet and for me it blended really well with the base. I found a splash of milk helped take out the slight astringency from the base.

drank Masala Chai by Zen Tea

Good afternoon for a large cup of Marsala Chai. I have had this in my collection for a little while. I think I have had some of it before, but it didn’t stand out as a favorite. I am enjoying it today, but it definitely isn’t my favorite chai. It is heavy on the anise seed for me. There is a good balance between base tea and spice, but I would like to see a few other spices take the stage more so than the anise seed.

drank Hazelnut by Adagio Teas

Finishing off my last cup of this tea that has been in my cupboard for almost 2 years. It is actually a really good cup. I am not sure why I neglected it. To be honest if I were to order from Adagio again I would pick up another sample pouch. It has a good base and the hazel nut flavoring is strong and well done. This holds up really well to milk and sugar and I think it would be fun to mix this tea with other flavors. I will keep this on on my wish list.

tea-sipper

I just finished a tea today that you sent a whillleeee ago. :D

TeaTiff

I actually still have a few you sent, cooking a human got in the way of my tea drinking:) Trying to get through all my older samples now.

Oh good, I’m not the only one with lingering samples from other Steepsterers, but you have more of a reason. :D Steepsterers are just so generous that the samples pile up. I hate not finishing them faster, but I sure appreciate them (and they taste delicious too).

Purple tea! Yep this is the tea that got me interested in sharing LP’s Yunnan Sourcing Order. Thank you!

It was a little odd pouring purple tea out of my gaiwan. For some reason I just thought the tea would be purple and not the brew. I expected this tea to be malty. It was not. It was very floral without the vegital notes that you normally get in green oolongs. The way I brewed this lent to it being slightly bitter as well. I enjoyed being able to get to try this unique tea, but I am not sure it was one for me.

Rasseru

Yeah I felt the same, didn’t quite work right for me. And I really like bug bitten.

TeaTiff

Oh, I didn’t realize this was bug bitten. I just couldn’t get it right. It was one of those that was really fun to try though.

Rasseru

actually, ive just read it isnt. my mistake! I think the beauty must have thrown me when I tasted it. will have to go back without that in mind! oops

Yum, this is good! When I placed a second order with QTT after my initial batch of samples I opted for a sample of this instead of the oz b/c thus far I had been on the fence about the black base teas. Oh well.

This tea is creamy, sweet. The dry leaf screams maple syrup. There are little orange candies or something in here that make it fun to look at. I think my next cup will be doctored up a bit. A fun fall treat.

This was a free sample from Napali Tea Traders. Thank you! This is one of those just good black teas. Nothing fancy, nothing that stands out, but just solid. It is smooth, and slightly caramely/malty. Not really any astringency. Prior to getting into loose leaf tea it is what I wold have been referring to when I said I will have some tea.

This is another sample from LP in the YS + Mystery Pack. Thank you!

This is a lighter black tea. I am drinking this western style today at the office. I might have to try this one gongfu at home later this week. It is smooth, slightly malty and sweet. I let it steep for quite a long time the second time around to see how strong I could make it. It held up well, but still maintains a lighter feel/taste to it. A good afternoon black tea.

Bio

I started drinking tea while on a 4 month long cycling trip through South America. It seemed to always be a great way to warm up when I was cold and it was always available everywhere. Mate was the big tea of choice down there and it was also a great way to get to know people. When I returned home, my sister introduced me to Teavana and this launched me into the realm of loose leaf tea.
