694 Tasting Notes
I am still not sure what to make of this tea. I split 2oz of this with a friend. She described it as “smokey”. That might be a good description. When I first brewed up a cup of this I had just washed out my steeper so when the cup had froth on the top I almost dumped it out because I thought maybe I had gotten suds in there. It turns out it is just the tea. The smell is a burned, tobacco-ish smell and it isn’t an inviting smell for me. I convinced myself I still needed to try this. So I took a sip. Okay, not bad, not great. Another sip. Mmm this is getting better. Another sip. I like. I will describe the flavor as a roasted /burnt toast flavor. It is not one that I think I will crave, but when I brew up a cup I seem to really enjoy it. With so many teas out there I am not sure I would purchase this one again.
Update: I am really enjoying the second steep of this tea. The burnt flavor and smell that was a little off putting for me is not there. It’s is a more balanced flavor.
Preparation
Being new to loose leaf tea, this is my first chai that I have had that hasn’t been the pre mix stuff that coffee shops serve. I really like this! The spice mix on this is really nice! I have been using 2 tsp for 10oz of water + 2oz milk then adding sugar or honey to taste.
Preparation
I some how became the owner of a large amount of this tea when it was discontinued this fall. I made a small purchase and they put probably 6oz of this and Golden Mojito into my bag. Tonight I was looking for something light and something to curb my sweet tooth so this seemed like a good choice. It is okay. Not great, not something I will crave, but nice and light and berry. I get none of the basil, which I am kinda sad about. I really like basil berry ice cream so when I read the name that is what I thought about. This might make a good blender for ice tea in the summer? (2 tsp /8 oz)
Preparation
Yuck! I made 8oz of this before bed last night hoping for just a nice calming light tea. When I opened the sample pouch it smelled nice, but very chemical-ish. Blah. I am not even sure I would give this away to anyone else. There are very few teas I have had that I won’t at least finish the cup, but this went down the drain.
Preparation
This tea is no longer available from Teavana and I am somewhat sad. This tea is nothing extraordinary, but for some reason I really like this tea before bed. The combo of the citrus, pineapple, and mint for me is really nice. It is very light, but the flavor comes through enough for me. Every sip is very calming. I like the little bit of sweet I get out of each sip and the warm fuzzy it gives my stomach.
I will have to savor the last bit of this that I own. I did see that they now have a citrus/mint/green tea. Maybe this will be a nice replacement or maybe there is a equally nice blend out there somewhere on the world wide web.
Preparation
I had this again this morning I am in love. I usually take two 16 oz cups of tea to work each morning and they last me all day. Not today. I had sipped this gone in no time flat. It was lunch time and I was wondering how I was going to get through the afternoon. I am already dreaming about drinking this tomorrow morning.
I believe my mistake with my first preparation of this was the amount of tea leaves. This morning I was really enjoying the caramel and slight sweet floral after taste. ( 4 tsp / 16 oz).
Preparation
The last 2 days I have been enjoying this in the afternoons with a tsp of honey. I have had very little experience with straight black teas so not much to compare to. I received 2oz of this as a gift and so far I like. (2 tsp / 16 oz)
Preparation
I do not usually go for floral teas, so I had put this sample to the back of my tea drawer and forgotten about it. I was in a hurry one morning and didn’t have too much time to brew a cup of tea with my steeper so tossed this sample in my bag to make at work. Boy was I surprised. I must have steeped this 4-5 times and every cup was wonderful. It was sweet, citrusy, with just a hint of floral. I am going to have to try this again just to be sure the rainy day wasn’t affecting my taste buds.
