15350 Tasting Notes
Mango madness! Ok so mangos are one of my favourite fruits. When I was in Australia I pretty much ate Mangos non stop any way that I could. In ice cream, yogurt, candies etc… sooooo good!
My matcha order was the following:
Size : Small
Matcha Quality: Starter (Basic Grade)
Flavor: Delicate
I ordered delicate for the first time with this one because I was a little worried after the intensity of the pear matcha. When I opened this package the scent was that of Mangos but also the rind of the mango. I was a bit worried that the rind taste would carry over in to the matcha but luckily it didn’t! I popped this matcha into my morning smoothie since I’m fairly certain I don’t want to drink this hot ever :)
Delicious! I know some others haven’t loved this, but I still find it an enjoyable matcha. The taste does have a bit of the rind in it but I don’t mind that so much. It makes it feel more like I took a bite out of a mango and got a bit of rind in my bite. I’d be interested in trying this in a different base just to see how the flavour changes (if it does). I wonder if something like a white base would bring out more of the mango flavour. I’m happy with this purchase – it’s not quite the wonderful fruit flavour that the black cherry is but it’s still good and something I’ll enjoy in my smoothies. I’ll enjoy mixing all my different fruit flavours into a giant matcha smoothie one of these days.

I really hope that my matcha experiments tonight don’t keep me up all night, though if they do then I suppose i’ll just need more in the morning to keep me going tomorrow lol
My matcha order was the following:
Size : Small
Matcha Quality: Starter (Basic Grade)
Flavor: Robust
So! I’m trying this matcha out right after the coffee matcha just to see how the two compare. I have to be honest, I think I prefer the mocha one. Not because of the chocolatey factor but because it taste more like coffee than the coffee matcha did. I made this as a hot latte so that it was similar to what i did with the coffee matcha. The smell is pleasant and it’s a really smooth beverage. I think though that I’d really like to try this cold because it’s how I prefer to drink my coffee/mocha type beverages. I did expect that the flavour would be stronger given that I nearly always go with the robust flavouring. I think with this one you could go even stronger as long as you’re okay with not tasting matcha, which i totally am. I had a thought as well to try mixing the chocolate and the espresso matcha together to see how it compares to this one so that might be something to do whenever i get around to purchasing more matcha. At the end of the day, this is a nice matcha – still not as wonderful as caramel and cheesecake but they’re my ones to beat!

So apparently this is my lucky week! My other matcha order arrived this afternoon so I have 5 new matchas to review woohoo! I promised Rachel that the Coffee Matcha would be the first that I review when they arrived, so when I got home, I settled down to enjoy at least the coffee matcha tonight :)
My matcha order was the following:
Size : Small
Matcha Quality: Starter (Basic Grade)
Flavor: Robust
When I first opened the packaging, a weird smell emerged from the gold foil. It first smelled a bit like coffee then like something burnt and then my other half commented that it smelled like those wafer cookies with the fake icing in them that you can get in brown, white and pink. He made sure i didn’t think he meant the pink ones lol
It’s cold and raining out today so I opted for a warm matcha coffee latte! This is a strange matcha. It’s “almost” coffee but then there’s this “other” taste that I can’t quite place. Of course now all I can think of are those wafer cookies. I think though, it’s somewhere between those white wafers without the tang from the icing and a hazelnut coffee.
It’s not a bad matcha….but it’s not what i expected. I think in my head I was looking for a coffee matcha that tastes like coffee smells when it’s freshly ground and brewed in your house. This is not that type of matcha. I’m thinking that maybe I’ll get closer to that by trying the Espresso matcha and then adding a bit of caramel or cheesecake to it. Heh I’ve also got the mocha matcha at home here to try as well, so I may try that one right after this for comparison’s sake.
All in all, I’m still glad that I tried this but I may need to try one off the other coffee flavours from RedLeaf to see if I can find one that’s closer to the idea in my head.

So while i have to admit it IS colder here…it is NOT gloves, hat and scarf weather people! Sheesh. It is a bit of a colder, cloudier day today so I’m opting for a bit of chocolately mint for my lunch tea. Hoping it will chase away a bit of the thursday blahs
Go go Black Cherry! I have to say right off the bat that this might be my favourite fruit flavoured matcha so far. Given the intensity of the Pear matcha, I was a little worried about the strength of this matcha when I received it.
My matcha order was the following:
Size : Small
Matcha Quality: Starter (Basic Grade)
Flavor: Robust
I shouldn’t have been worried! While in the Pear, the intensity was too much – in the black cherry it’s perfect! When I first opened the package it smelled like cherry…the kind of cherry that is in those red suckers you get as a child from the doctor for a good visit :) First up for THIS matcha was a morning smoothie! I tossed in a frozen banana, some milk and ice and blended it up! I was a bit concerned that the banana might alter the taste too much but this matcha was strong enough!
After blending the cherry becomes rich and less like those child’s suckers and more like actual cherries. It’s funny because I know a bunch of people sweeten their match but it’s never occurred to me to do that. I’m glad though because so far none of the matchas I’ve tried from Red Leaf have needed any sweetening. I REALLY like this matcha. I’m a little curious as to how this would blend with the Cola matcha – I may be adventurous enough to try that some time. I’m also a little happy because while I enjoyed the pear – it was a bit artificial and strong for me and the berry was a melange of flavours. This matcha is straight up, one intense flavour POW! Without being TOOOOO strong :)

After your description, I’m definitely getting this next. Yesterday it was down to black cherry or macadamia nut, and I got the latter, which I’m sure I’ll love.
Im a fan of this one. I’m curious as to how it compares to the other 2? cherry blends they have so I many order one of the others as well :)
Mmmmm! I purchased this tea when it was on sale, wanting to be able to compare Stacy’s Assam with another Assam that I have. Im not sure why I hadn’t opened it until today but I’m certainly glad that I did. I think I actually may prefer this one to the other black tea from Butiki that I’ve tried. This tea is bold while also being smooth and satisfying. There are malty tones in this tea, but not as strong as say, loashan black from verdant. This tea is a nice easy wake up in the morning. I love my black teas and this is no exception. While not a knock your socks off HELLO OMG WAKE UP TEA! It is a smooth, black tea with no atringency. Nice work stacy!
A little FYI, this Assam is going to cheaper until its sold out since we just got in 2 new Assam teas that are a bit bolder.
I like this one too!
yeah I like my matcha hot with milk 9/10 times so I’m not sure… however I love mango… I’ll think about it :D
