This was sent as a sample with my order, and although I normally drink black loose teas, I did like this, and might consider ordering it. The coconut was dominant in a good way, but I did pick up on some ginger as well. All in all, a nicely done blend.

This blend of 8 teas makes a very smooth and pleasing cup. As always, I sweetened with some stevia. Glad I ordered this sample (along with several others that I look forward to trying).

I just received French Vanilla Matcha and Madagascar Vanilla Matcha and a generous sample of Cheesecake Matcha from Red Leaf yesterday. The vanilla flavors were both on sale and I thought it would be fun to compare them, since I knew I liked French Vanilla from a previous sample. I’ve lost count of how many flavors of Red Leaf Matcha I’ve tried-I loved all but one. Madagascar Vanilla is the 2nd I’ve tried of their vanilla Matchas and does not disappoint. I’m not sure if I have a favorite between the two. Often I order the robust flavor strength, but with Madagascar, I got distinctive with green basic base, and found it to be just right. I find cold lattes made with Matcha to be a satisfactory (and more healthy) alternative to milkshakes. My recipe for a Madagascar Vanilla latte is ¾ tsp matcha in 10 oz of cold organic milk with some Stevia. I use my Aerolatte to froth it up. I’m sure it would be good with almond milk and intend to try it that way next. On the website, there is usually at least one Matcha on sale, plus the opportunity to get free samples. The service from Red Leaf has been outstanding for me and you can hardly go wrong with any of their flavors. Here is the link for this one: http://www.redleaftea.com/matcha-tea/madagascar-vanilla-matcha.html

Interesting that you often get the robust flavouring. Do you find it covers up the grassy taste really well? I’m new to matcha.

Donna A

Yes, I think robust does cover the grassy taste up well. With Madagascar Vanilla, I thought the distinctive was great though. Since robust is more expensive, I think I’m going to try distinctive 1st before I jump to robust in the future. I’ve been ordering some of the free samples and am assuming they may be the most basic level and they’ve been fine too

Oh ok, all good things to know. Right now I’m trying samples sent to me by lovely steepsterites, but I’m sure I’ll figure out which flavouring level works best for me eventually.

Donna A

Yes, and it will probably vary somewhat on the flavor too. With Caramel Matcha, one of my favorites, I just loved the flavor so much that I wanted more of it, so I went to robust.

This morning I made a cold latte with almond milk and it was equally delicious. With some Matcha flavors, I find that almond milk subdues the flavor more than dairy milk and I need to use more Matcha to get the flavor intensity I like. Not so with Madagascar Vanilla.

I found an overlooked sample packet of this today and will have to add to the already positive comments. I’ve enjoyed many black teas from Teavivre. This one is a really nice surprise because of its great price, yet it still tastes like a good quality tea. I brewed it just under boiling for 2 minutes, then re-steeped for 2 1/2 minutes. No bitterness and good hot or cold. I will include it in my next Teavivre for an every day drinking tea.

I made a cold latte with this and frothed it up. Delicious. I can’t count how many Red Leaf matcha flavors I’ve tried so far, but there’s only one I didn’t like. I really like this one a lot.

Thanks to Teavivre for the oolong samples. Sweet, floral, fruity, vegetal are the words that come to mind on this one. Reminds me of a Tieguanyin-maybe a little sweeter. I am more of a black tea lover but enjoy an oolong once in awhile for a change. This one is pretty good, but so far my favorite Teavivre sample has been the Superfine Taiwan Moderately-Roasted Dong Ding Oolong. Still have a few more to go though.

I like this style of oolong a lot with its toasted nut notes and less pronounced vegetal notes. It has a smooth, mellow sweetness-very soothing. I got several infusions. I really appreciate this sample from Teavivre.

I made this as a chilled latte and found it to be very tasty. I’m not sure how much like eggnog it is, but I like it.

I just love this Matcha frothed up with milk and it does froth up very well. It is one of my favorites. I drink it cold and never get tired of it. I got it in robust.

Tea became a passion for me a year or so ago. I fell into it almost by accident, but now I would say it has captured me. Tea is more than something tasty to sip on, it is an experience-it helps create a mood and is quite interesting to read about and study. I discovered loose tea at the tea store at my mall. I was looking for alternatives to Coke Zero and white wine. Say what you will about that mall chain, but I’m sure it has raised awareness about tea where I live, in the land of bagged mass produced black tea prepared with lots of sugar, Atlanta, Georgia. That’s what happened with me, and then I started perusing the internet and found Steepster.

When I take on an interest or a hobby, I go into it full force and become a little obsessive about it in the beginning. I have always been adventurous when it comes to trying new foods, and once I discovered there was so much more out there than the Lipton tea I saw my mom drinking when I was growing up, I started trying many different varieties of loose tea. I have discovered I like all kinds of tea. I I veer a lot toward straight teas, especially blacks, but occasionally drink flavored also, especially Earl Grey. I like flavored Matcha lattes too. I’ve completely given up diet cola, which was becoming too much of a habit. I think tea is a lot healthier. When I rate a tea, it’s just my personal taste, so I don’t tend to post on things I don’t care for. Also, I tend to sweeten my tea with natural stevia (a no no for some!) I am a married Registered Nurse, with two kids in college and one in medical school. My husband is not hooked like I am, but he often enjoys a cup with me. I enjoy many other interests, including reading, gardening, and the arts. I’ve taken up hiking in the past year too. Anytime I can include tea in these pursuits, I do! It has become a bit of an obsession for me.
