I finally got around to trying this one and it’s not bad. I’m still not convinced I’ll ever find the perfect mint chocolate black but i’ve found a few close ones. This one is pretty good. the chocolate is mild and then strong and the mint doesn’t over power. I think what i like best is that this is part of frank’s permanent collection so if i can’t fine a suitable OMG THIS IS AWESOME mint chocolate, then this will do in a pinch. It’s certainly much less “artificial” than david’s tea’s red my lips, which i really loved when i first started drinking tea and now comes across as artificial and kinda meh.

mind if I steal a sample of this from you? :)

Wheee! First review! I’m enjoying this cup today. It’s not an overly strong cup of tea but it has a really nice range of flavours happening. There a touch of malt which turns into a soft rich black flavour with a hint of sweet at the end. Reading the description which refers to wine, i can see where that’s coming from.

mmmm caramel smoothie this morning! Inspired by a conversation with TeaLover58 on matcha i opted to revist my caramel matcha this morning. Still as delicious as i remember. Love the creamy goodness of this one.

Another cup of this tonight while I worked from home with our china team. There’s something to be said about being on the phone with china at night while sipping on some tea. Here’s hoping I get to go down there to help the team out sometime this year!

Still enjoy this, though not a re-stock. Ill likely use the last of this to try a cold brew and see what’s what with that. Verdant orders here tomorrow so um I really need some more room lol

If you went to China, you’d end up drinking lots of GREEN tea ;P

Sil

says you! But here’s hoping that i get to go at least once… gotta love business travel when you can tack on a few days of vacation to explore.

drank Candy Cane by Della Terra Teas

SIPDOWN!

Had the last of this in the afternoon today at work. I think this tea is growing on me – it’s a really nice blend of vanilla and mint, without going to the extreme with either. It reminds me of another tea though, so i’ll have to see if i can figure that out before i finish off this cup :)

drank Cotton Candy Black Tea by 52teas

Still not quite getting that whole cotton candy flavour in this one. I think i might be ab;le to solve that by adding a bit of sweetner, so i’ll try that later. Still a decent cup of tea but not yet something that says COTTON CANDY! to me. instead it’s a sweetish cup of black tea.

Alphakitty

I’ve found that the cotton candy flavor in this is most prominent when it’s ice-cold and with a dash of sugar. The warmer it gets, the less cotton candy flavor there is.

Azzrian

Try steeping a little less perhaps… I notice on many of the 52 Teas blend this helps.

Sil

yeah i generally only steeps 52 teas blacks for about 2mins heh thatmuch i’ve learned through trial and error on various flavours. I’ll have to try this ice cold just to compare :)

This is a bit of a weird tea. I’ve got a cold brew of the steepings going to see how that changes things but I don’t think i need to order this one again. It’s a neat mix of the blueberry and strawberry but that semi results in a vague “berry” like flavour that is neither one nor the other. There isn’t much astringency in this one, which is nice but i almost want the flavour to be sweeter, or stronger. maybe both. Still, glad to have this to check it off my list. only 12023978120938109283 more upton samples to try! :)

I’m still working my way through the first batch of sample packets I ordered from Upton; I’m thinking I like their black teas much better than their fruity ones.

Sil

I’m probably with you on that one. So far I am loving a lot of their black teas while their flavoured teas leave a bit to be desired. Still have a bunch to go through though before i’ll let myself order another box. I was pretty happy to get to pick up 3 brewing baskets with them on super sale though since it gave me an excuse to try a bunch of teas haha just wish their samples were resealable

While this is a nice cup of tea, it’s not up to my preferences for an unflavoured black. It’s certainly got a really nice smooth finish to it, but the overall cup is a little boring. I’m not picking up as many notes of flavour as I do with some of my other blacks. Now, this may be that it’s because it’s a yunnan, which i haven’t had much experience with, but i’ll passs on restocking this one. It’s a good tea, but there are others out there i’d prefer to drink. Would i pass this one up if offered? hell no :)

drank Pumpkin Pie Matcha by Matcha Outlet
15074 tasting notes

So i think I’ve finally figured this one out. I made this as a smoothie this morning with a bit of cheesecake matcha to smooth out the taste. What i neded up with what a great tasting matcha pumpkin spice smoothie. I’m not getting “pie” from this, but i’m happy with just the pumpkin spice flavour. Not my favourite from Red Leaf but still a pretty enjoyable cup, esp if you like pumpkin flavoured things.

I totally forgot this was caffeine free when i brewed this up this morning. Still a delicious cup though as I’m a fan of the mint and vanilla blend. It went quite well with my black so no complaints here!

So no real clue what to write about myself here. A friend got me into drinking loose tea and it’s something I thoroughly enjoy though I have nowhere near the experience that many folks on the boards seem to have.

My other interests are cycling, reading, board games, disney cruises, world of warcraft and dancing – in no particular order. I love travelling as well!

Most of that is on hold these days though, including tea drinking like I used to as I have a new little one who eats up all my spare time.
