Slight smokiness with a bitter edge which seems to be coming from the green tea. The green tea in here seems to be a sencha and, as with all DAVIDsTEA blends, it seems to be of low quality. I can hardly taste the white tea in this one at all, which also seems to be characteristic of any DAVIDsTEA white tea blends. Artificial peach taste present. Heavy jasmine floral flavour which, in theory, would pair well with the peach and white tea tastes but in this brew they are not blended very well.

Aroma is creamy and chocolately. Aroma translates well to the flavour with light to medium mouthfeel. I am detecting the odd aftertaste of the added stevia extract. I am impressed with the chocolate flavour in this blend! It is creamy and sweet and reminds me of biting into an actual chocolate bar. I generally find DAVIDsTEA chocolate-flavoured teas to have a sort of soapy-artificial taste so this is a very welcome change. The addition of the stevia is very unfortunate. I seem to be extra sensitive to the aftertaste (gives my mouth a bitter topical anesthetic feeling) and I feel that the sugar in the chocolate chips and chocolate curls should be enough sweetness anyway (and then the consumer can add extra sugar/stevia as they see fit). I like the idea of combining chocolate and pu’er. I feel that this chocolate flavouring is more of a “milk chocolate” taste which would probably pair better with a black tea. A darker chocolate flavour would do better in this blend.

Cherry flavour is very artificial-tasting. It seems more like a sugary plum taste to me. The tea base is very mild and, as with many other DAVIDsTEA flavoured blends, is of poor quality. The tea base does come through and is distinguishable as a white tea with the “swampy” flavour that I usually associated with whites. It also complements the flavouring well.

Tried this tea for a second time from my DAVIDsTEA advent calendar. I still don’t feel that the mint and spice flavours go well together. I am hardly able to detect any green tea taste.

I got this tea as a sample in my 2015 DAVIDsTEA advent calendar. I remember having this tea years ago when it was first released. The brew I had today was a bit different than what I remember. The “glitter” used to come in little spheres in the tea that made the tea shimmer when you infused it. I did not have that experience today with the gold stars in the brew. There also seems to be some sugar crystals included which is an interesting addition- I personally prefer my tea without any sugar additive. I guess the extra sweetness adds to the indulgence of this Christmas-themed tea. Still, I am glad that the choice was not made for stevia to be used as an sweetener. This tea has a full savoury aroma that reminds me of smelling a creamy bowl of cinnamon oatmeal. The tea is quite balanced in its flavour profile with both the black tea and cinnamon coming through. I am able to taste the aftertaste of the added sugar trailing at the end of the sip. It is unfortunate that a low quality black tea seems to have been used in this blend. This is not a tea that I would keep at hand but I am glad that I was able to try it!

The almond flavouring is quite good in this tea- amaretto with sweet nutty tones. The green tea in this blend, unfortunately, seems to be of low quality. There’s an odd artificial aftertaste. I like the sugar cookie sweetness in the background.
