This is tea like tea is supposed to be- when you say to yourself Lychee Peach tea, this tastes so right on the money it is surprising! It has a rich mouth feel without the acidic negative tea possibility, it is a satisfying golden brown clear liquid(and I accidentally let it steep 5 minutes,) and smells wonderfully warmly tealike with hints of flavors- the peach is delicate here, not club you over the head fake, and the lychee comes shining in with further glimmers of flavor, but again, does not club you over the head in an artificial way! No sweetener needed for fresh flavor, and no bitter aftertaste whatsoever. A new top ten favorite especially for Spring!

Inocuous Tea, with vanilla hints- tastes exactly like the water from boiling reeds to make baskets. (I used to weave baskets and you have t boil the reed to soften it- when you hold the reed in your mouth while weaving, it tastes EXACTLY like this!) Medicinal benefits suggested and I am curious. If candida is a cause of hunger and craving for sweet foods, would this anti-fungal tea cut that craving and help you lose weight. If in fact this is so- what a great tea this would be cuz it is super easy to drink- wayyyyy easier than the berries and the Catauba stuff we tried earlier. I’m not a doctor and am making no claims myself, just passing on what I have read and intuitively put together myself. This seems harmless in daily small doese and worth a try. All I’m saying. Steep 10 minutes.

The very nice lady at Virtuous Teas hooked us up with 4 kinds of green tea basics to try tonight- 2 Japanese and 2 Chinese. For us, (3 people, my husband, Ellyn my bud, and myself) the Japanese won handily 2 to 0. This was #2 of the Chinese and BLeccchhhhhhhh. It had the roof of the mouth coating nastiness I hate in wine OR tea, where you feel like you grew instant velvet there and it tastes puckery awful. This goes on my list to try again in a few years because you never know, tho I think I know….with so many different teas to try, why cross this bridge twice?

We got out the thermometer, got out the measuring spoons, got out the timer- read the instructions in the tea snob’s book of tea, which Ellyn will have to name because I know not…and YUCK YUCK YUCK, this is the first “skunk piss” tea I have run into yet. Down the drain it goes- with no remorse whatsoever. Maybe someday I will learn to enjoy this one, but I doubt it heavily. Blechhhhh with my tongue out all the way!

Of all the green teas Japanese and Chinese we tried tonight, this was our hands down favorite. All 3 tasters gave this one a thumbs up because it has a pleasant mellow toasted barley, woody… caramel even lightly- flavor and warm scent. Subtle and enjoyable all alone, would stock this to enjoy all year round.

Intense yellow green tea from spikey tea leaves, this was a tangy grassy tasting tea- full bodied and not bitter or ucky, I preferred this over the Chinese Green teas we tried tonight- (Dragonwell and Summit Spring) doing a bit of a comparison Green Tea Night to learn the basics of taste in plain tea- without all the gift wrappings of added flavors. Once again this may be something I get more accustomed to- not unpleasant but not an instant love either.

This really does smack of champagne and I find it is fun in that way- yellow in color with a flowery aroma and taste, it is pleasant. Let me add that it also adds artificial flavoring again, and this is becoming a pet peeve. I think if I was really in the mood for this I’d go get it- but I do not like it enough to keep it on hand in quantity.

In the category of fake tasting tea- I’m beginning to have an eyebrow on the ceiling for David’s Tea. I’ve only been at this for a few weeks but I find they are often trendy flavors that are supplemented with artificial flavors. I like this tea- it has a refreshing melon taste,it is a pretty pink color- but as long as artificial flavor is listed I am suspect.

This smells tasty in the bag- but gets better with steeping! It tastes like cream pie in a great end of day treat way. It tastes better than it smells, which is unusual. It is a nice warm color and had a nice wrap to it- one to keep on hand for company for certain.

This smells amazing, it tastes like a desert, it is delicious! I love strong flavors- this is one. I guess I am not very subtle and my taste in tea is not either. The vanilla is lovely and strong, but there is more to it than just that, I can see why this is one of their best sellers.

I have had this one before. I LOVE IT! Just watch out – the smell is strong and can get into other more delicate teas!

My mother had different teas around as a nutritionist, the worst I ever tried was chapparel- (sp?) it tasted like plastic. My friend Ellyn has now reinfected me with a loose tea passion! I must give snaps to my son Robby, who sent me the most gorgeous present from Argo teas and they sat in my cupboard for a year unopened! FOR SHAME MAMA!
