So this tea was actually from a gift bag I received when I went to afternoon tea at the Moana Surfrider in Waikiki. My tin has a design that’s specific to the hotel, but it also has the logo of the company that makes it. Highly recommend that afternoon tea if you happen to be on O’ahu, by the way! The teas were tasty and the food was delicious.
So Passion Orange Guava (POG) is a super common flavor in Hawai’i, probably best known as being a sugary (but delicious) canned juice that you can get anywhere. But it also shows up as a shave ice flavor, in cocktails, etc. This tea actually has mango flavoring though, and no guava flavoring, so that’s a bit odd. It tastes like a generic mango/tropical punch black tea to me, though I do taste the orange. I actually like the base, it’s somewhat tannic but also has a nice malty, biscuity note to it.
Anyway, I won’t reorder this one as it’s just a bit generic for me, but I did notice they offer a ton of other Hawaiian flavors, and that guava lilikoi is catching my eye… XD
