2561 Tasting Notes
I got this one in a Reddit tea exchange in 2017, and I loved it so much that I ordered 4 oz during the next sale. Unfortunately, it didn’t quite hold up to my memories of it. It tastes like sour watermelon candy, but there’s something in the flavor that’s not quite perfect.
This one smells very strongly of fake, chemically almond. When I took a sip…that’s what I tasted as well. Mastress Alita was right! I’m someone who doesn’t mind artificial flavoring at all, but the chemical taste that some flavored teas sadly have is pretty bad. I added milk and put it in the fridge, and it tastes decent, as any tea would when enough milk and sugar are added. There’s still a hint of that chemical bitterness though. So maybe I just don’t like Adagio’s flavored oolongs. Maybe the flavoring would agree with someone else, but sadly, I would pick any other almond tea over this one. I may make one more cup at a later date to see if my brewing practices are what ruined this, and I’ll be happy to edit my rating at that point.
This is another generous sample from Mastress Alita. It’s probably entirely my fault that this turned out bitter since I never time my steeps. I added milk and put it in the fridge, so the bitterness went away. At first I didn’t notice any maple, but I guess if you’re really concentrating, it’s there! Other than that it tastes pretty typical for a breakfast tea. I drank the cup over the course of two days since I don’t prefer to have that much breakfast tea at once. So this tea was decent, but not as much my thing as I hoped it would be.
Definitely one of Adagio’s better rooibos teas. I ordered all their teas that had almond in the title, and as this one is caffeine-free, it’s the one that’s gotten absolutely demolished. Rooibos and almond flavors both come through pretty strong, and the second steep is just as tasty. I may order more of this, but I have a different sealed rooibos almond tea, so we’ll see which comes out the winner!
I just had to order this one after seeing how beautiful it looked in the picture. Hot, this one just tasted like tart cherries no matter how much sugar I added. It reminded me of Dewy Cherry from Adagio. It was too tart for me, so I put it in the fridge, hoping the flavor would improve. It’s a few hours later, and it has! Now it tastes rather tropical, with the primary flavor being a very creamy coconut. The sour cherry flavor has completely disappeared. If I had ordered a pina colada tea and received this, I would be very pleased – it’s probably the best pina colada-ish tea I’ve had. However, I’d say it fails at what it set out to do. Hot, it was way too much sour cherry. Cold, there is none. So prepared correctly, this can be quite tasty, but maybe not what you were hoping for. My rating reflects its flavor cold. If I were to rate it hot…well it wouldn’t be high.
I wish I’d given them a fake birthday so I could’ve gotten a better free sample, but oh well! I tried this twice before giving it away. It’s really too light for me. I’d say it’s definitely more white than oolong in there. It just tastes like white tea with tiny hints of fruit. I guess I’m looking for more obvious flavors in my tea! Also these tins are cute, but so useless. I use a teaspoon to scoop my tea, so I need higher walls, otherwise the tea goes all over the counter. Whenever I empty an Adagio tin, I just give it to my sister for crafting purposes.
This is the first great pumpkin blend I’ve had on my shelf in a while – what a relief! Unfortunately, I only have an ounce, which will make at most five of my (giant) mugs. But I’ll totally order more of this during the next sale. The spices are pretty strong, but not in a spicy way. The flavors are really clear and tasty. It’s not like a pumpkin pie really, but I’d say it’s similar to pumpkin spice lattes you find in the fall. It was a bit too savory for me until I added the sugar and milk, but now, it’s so good. The spices linger in your mouth. Really good.
I would never buy this tea, but it came in a sampler. Apple cider teas always taste lame to me. The flavor is just weak and strange. Luckily this is a heavy blend, so I only had to get through two cups of this to finish the small tin. Honestly, Celestial Seasonings Cinnamon Apple Spice is much better, though I don’t drink that one either since one time I think it made my face rashy where the tea had dribbled down it, and now I’m afraid of it..
