From thepuriTea

Milk Oolong is a one-of-a-kind tea. It has no added flavors – its fantastically milky, creamy flavor is the result of its terroir and harvest season. The rolled, blue-green leaves have an intense milk aroma, like milk toffee or hard milk candy, with a slight floral undertone. Likewise, the bright yellow brew is incredibly aromatic and flavorful. Its scents of creamy caramel, flavors of cream, milk, coconut milk and tangerine-infused crème fraiche, and finish of gardenias, ripe fruits and warm cream are remarkably indulgent. Later infusions are greener, more floral and equally complex. Milk Oolong is delicious on its own, or with fresh fruit salad or coconut cream pie and sliced peaches.

Sweet, peach smell from the dry leaves which look like tiny little balls. The minute the water hit teapot BAM those little balls turned into huge leaves that consumed my teapot. Sweet, smooth..I am not getting the creaminess of milk, but I do like this and could see myself drinking this on a regular basis:) The second infusion was still peachy enough that I enjoyed this cuppa as much as the first…no veggie taste here (I am so glad) just pure tea enjoyment.
I must say that I like doing business with thepuriTea folks, they were quick to answer my emails and I got my order in less than a week. I ordered their clear tea tin (for my blood orange black tea…the prettiest tea in my cupboard) & two oolong samplers…when I opened the box I found four more samples!!! Great customer service and the free shipping for Presidents day made me smile:)

This is the first Milk Oolong I’ve tried. It came recommended by a fellow tea lover.

The scent in the bag is delightful, and redolent of milk tea candy that I purchase at the Japanese supermarket. The taste, however, is different. It tastes like a green oolong with creamy and floral notes. I definitely detect the milky flavor, but it’s not overpowering or buttery — it just adds another dimension. It’s smooth and somewhat sweet, not astringent or bitter at all. The warm, milky aroma makes this a soothing and relaxing tea to sip before bedtime.

I like this very much, and when it runs out I will purchase more.

I steeped this twice, once yesterday and once this morning. :) I didn’t have much time to enjoy it yesterday, and I committed the horrific taboo of sweetening it on the first steep before I realized what I was doing… X-P I kicked myself pretty hard, because I let auto-pilot take over.

First steep: 1 minute 45 seconds; Color: a yellowish amber; Aroma: sweet, creamy, slightly vegetal
I shouldn’t have sweetened it. The sugar is throwing off the… well, everything. The mouthfeel, the flavor, the aroma, everything. :(

Second steep: 2 minutes; Color: a darker amber, more orange; Aroma: very grassy, vegetal, with a hint of cream
Let me just say that this is a VERY green oolong. The picture on this page does not quite look like my leaves did. Of course, now they’re all unfurled, and they have more than quadrupled in volume… which has only further revealed how very very green they are. The vegetal taste is pretty overpowering this time. I don’t really detect any cream.

Not gonna rate this one, because I messed up the tasting.

Thank you Shelley_Lorraine for this sample.
Once again, introducing me to new teas:)
I am not very picky when it comes to teas, and am always open to new teas.
I have to say I didn’t hate this tea, but I wouldnt go out and buy it.
I tasted the sweetness and milkyness.
Thank you for the sample again, but this just wasn’t my cup of tea.
But I did get to try my new steeper for this first time:)

I have only had the Milk Oolong but I thought the taste delicious. At first, I thought it had dairy products in it and was reluctant to try it due to my being lactose-intolerant.
Indeed, I would try it again and look forward to doing so. Leeflea

I thought maybe the milk oolong I got last week was this one. It is not. So now I have two different milk oolongs and that is really not a problem.

This one is a lot greener than the other I have. It’s a bit more subtle, but still creamy. I think I prefer the other one, but this is still amazing.

Wow. Simply wow. On a recent thread, some Steepster peeps were discussing milk oolongs and a few companies’ names were thrown out. I decided to give the milk oolong from thepuritea a try. I placed my order just a couple of days ago and received it today. (Rats… my husband saw me bringing yet more tea into this house!)

Anyway, I decided to try this first since it really was the reason I ordered from them in the first place. Upon opening the bag, the scent is wonderful! It’s nutty and creamy and even fruity smelling.

I used ATR’s recommendations for their milk oolong 175/2 min. It came out a very light yellow color. Pretty. The scent is beguiling. Floral, fruity, nutty, creamy, lovely. And the taste is really outstanding! It’s really, really, really good and is now one of my favorites. I can’t believe this isn’t fruit flavored. It’s so sweet. I love this tea.

This smells exactly like milk Pocky. Well, it might be closer to honey-and-milk Pocky, as it’s got a sweet scent to it. It’s very densely curled so I’m trying it with a bit less than a teaspoon to start, since the sample is enough for at least 2 cups if not 3. Steeping in a paper filter (my last tea-making device went kaput after I didn’t clean it good enough and it grew nasty slime mold) for about 4 minutes, I had to run get my timer so it’s definitely not exact. water temperature between 195-205 (someday I will get a thermometer).

Result…not bad, once I let it steep long enough. (I tasted it at about 4 minutes and it was too mild — 4:30 and it was GREAT.) It tastes a little more toasty than sweet when brewed, but I’ve learned that with other teas — overpowering sweet aromas often lead to pleasantly sweet brews. This wasn’t overpoweringly sweet-smelling in the slightest so I’m not surprised to see the sweetness go all subtle. I can definitely see where the milk name comes from but the flavor overall reminds me of toast — as in, bread. This would make a great breakfast tea! It has a lovely flavor. I wasn’t impressed at my first tasting but letting it steep longer did the trick. I think I may need a little more of this after I finish my sample… :)
