drank Yerba Mate by Adagio Teas

12 oz water
3.2g yerba mate

The nose is like a very light puerh, earthy with a slight lingering sweetness. Clean damp straw.

There is again a straw like flavor, light and not remotely close to being bitter. It is somewhat delicate of a flavor, i’ll have to play with the amount of tea and water ratio.

I could see this lending itself to be over flavored, as it would easily allow the other flavors to show through.

I hate the serving recommendations, 1 teaspoon per cup… is that a 6oz cup, 8oz std measure, or a cup as in a 10oz mug. Is 1 teaspoon level or heaping? Just give me grams and ounces.

4g tea,
12oz water

Dark amber color in steep. There is a very pleasant sweet aroma. Light notes of cocoa maybe some molasses. On the palette it is a very smooth tea, with slight astringent sensation on the finish. None of the flavors are overwhelming, but subtle and layered. It seems a bit difficult to really pick any out.

4g tea

Amber infusion

Woodsy aroma.

The liquor is smooth going down. It is slightly sweet. I did not get any menthol that the description claims. Nor any medicinal taste. It’s pretty good.

Sweet woodsy aroma. Light flavor. Reminds me of a lighter flavored white peony. Smooth and sorta creamy sensation. Not really any astringency or bitterness. It’s nice.

Lengthy aftertaste of slight malt.
Smooth, not a bad tea. Again though, nothing spectacular.

Not the sweet potato that i remember. a bit astringent but not too bitter. I’ve have migrated a bit lately to drinking black teas iced. I think this one may follow that trend as well.

drank Zealong Dark by Chicago Tea Garden
54 tasting notes

4g tea
about 5 oz water
Zealong’s website suggests about 5g per 5oz, so thats why the low amount of water.

Aroma is strong and nutty and finishes with a lingering sweetness.

The color is a light pale yellow. The leaves were rather large and dark, they have not unfurled completely.

This is a very smooth tea, the flavor does not come across nearly as strong as the aroma. There is no bitterness, no astringency. The subtle flavors may be overwhelmed by the stronger iced Assam i just finished prior. Will have to see if the re-steeps alleviate that and maybe adjust the rating higher.
