Jasmine Passion

Enjoying another cup of this. I really wish that Steepster could merge the two different Persimmon Tree areas. Anyway … this is indeed a very nice Passion Fruit Jasmine tea. Mellow and relaxing and not an in your face flavor but just sort of like an easy breezy Sunday after noon drink. The flavors are relaxed and well blended to where the Jasmine and the Passion Fruit compliment each other without fighting for the focus.

Persimmons Tree noticed was looking for a similar flavor from another company and asked if I wanted to try this – OF COURSE I WOULD! Thanks so much!!!!

The aroma both dry and wet are subtle and flowing.

The color is a dark brown – thanks to the blend of black and green teas as the base. The Jasmine is quite floral but the passion fruit gives it that bit of juicy to contribute the “Opposites Attract” sort of theme. I like that about this tea.

I also like that it’s more than just a green tea base! I like they did the black and green blend.

This is a nice relaxing sort of tea yet floral and fruity but neither of those flavors are too much to handle.

I’m so jazzed I got to try this! I give it a thumbs up!

Sorry for my lack of posts recently, my internet has been on and off (mostly off) for a few weeks now and it’s made posting reviews very difficult. :( Thankfully everything appears to have been fixed so I am back in business.

In dry form this tea is noticeable a mixture of both black and green teas that are in rather small pieces. Mixed amongst them are a few yellow petals and flower buds.

As I open the packet a sweet and fruity scent fills the air. It does smell like passion fruit but could also be mistaken for mango or possibly papaya no hint of anything floral or jasmine like.

Once steeped the tea forms a red/brown colour and has a dry and slightly sweet fruit aroma. It’s fruit scent has change and is a little unrecognisable, now it’s more like peach.

In taste this is rich, roasty, fruity, sweet, woody and floral. There is a thick jasmine flavour that has become somewhat earthy and rich
with help from the black tea. Almost enough to be bitter but just edging away from it slightly. The fruit is still more peach or apricot than anything else but it’s gone in a flash and taken over by the jasmine.

In a weird way it reminds me of a generic cheap fruity Oolong. It’s nice but not something I think I would ever crave or miss. Nice if you like a strong fruit based tea that keeps it’s tea elements, however I am in two minds about it.

Passion fruit is one of those flavors that I adore, but no one else in my family likes so I rarely get anything flavored with it. It also doesn’t seem that common in teas, oddly enough—I guess it’s one of those fruity flavors that’s hard to capture? So of course when I saw this blend I had to try it!

Dry this blend is divine, and very strongly floral (which I love). Passion fruit already has a hint of floral, and the jasmine amps it up a lot. I cold brewed this even though it is the middle of January—it’s so warm in my apartment that with the heaters off and fans on I am still walking around in a tank top. In New York. I really need some iced tea! And is this ever a refreshing one. Heavily floral but not perfumey, and the passion fruit and jasmine are perfectly balanced. I think jasmine can easily overpower other ingredients but it’s used lightly here so the passion fruit still shines. I swear there’s a hint of pear in here too, perhaps from the base? Which is a black/green blend but tastes mostly like a green to me.

It’s also naturally quite sweet, honey-like almost—not artificial or cloying. Definitely more complex than I was expecting! Thanks to The Persimmon Tree for this sample.

I haven’t had this tea in a long time, but for some reason I had another sample kicking around.
I used honey to sweeten, and find the tea quite peachy brisk. Floral can do some weird things sometimes, and mixing with passion fruit and black tea (and green for that matter) everything came out peachy, with a sharp fruity floral end of sip. Pretty good iced!

Back to working on my new shawl! It’s the Mystery Knit along that started today! Annoyingly, I think people got up at 5am to start when the pattern was released, and some are already done the first clue. Pretty neat idea, I have no idea how this shawl is going ot come out. I enjoyed the first few sips of this as a hot tea, and then I got distracted and came back to the tea and it was cold. It is still amazing cold!

Brew this at a lower temperature (accommodate the green tea’s temperature) and steep for 2 1/2 – 3 minutes.

Sweet, delicious passion fruit notes and beautiful hints of jasmine. Fruity and floral. A really lovely combination. I can also taste both the black tea and the green tea here. The green tea tastes sweet and delicate, while the black tea offers a soft, earthy note.

When I first started out on Steepster as a tea newbie, this quickly became one of my favorites. Now that I’ve really gotten into the world of straight teas (unflavored), my taste buds have definitely changed. While I still enjoy this one, I’m gonna lower my rating just a little because it does come off as a little too perfume-y to me now. Not so much that I can’t drink it, but just a teensy bit enough that I wonder how I didn’t really taste it as much before. I think that today’s cup was also just a little extra jasmine-y, which is usually not the case if I remember correctly. But all in all, it’s still a good flavored black tea to me, and I’m still liking it!

This is a lovely tea. I think i’ll need to try it iced as there’s a bit much in the way of jasmine for me to really enjoy this hot. However, it’s exactly what I expected. :)

A little astringent. Jasmine is not overpowering and balances well with the fruity passion-fruit flavour.

thanks for this one, Will Work For Tea! Your tea clear out was amazing! I love that this is a blend of black & green teas, as well as jasmine & passion fruit. The steep color is a light amber. I steeped for four minutes, but I think there is something a bit off about the passion fruit flavor that I may have steeped too long. But that may be because there is so much passion fruit essence! It is good though! The passion fruit is stronger than the jasmine. I have had better jasmine teas, but I don’t think I’ve had any other passion fruit teas. The flavors are very smooth and really lingers on the tongue. I couldn’t really tell this was a black tea, if I didn’t read it on the package. I guess it’s better that the flavors were not overpowered… but that would have been tough to do with this one! This would be delicious iced. I have a tiny sample of this, and after pouring some into my infuser, I realize even this tiny sample will make many cups. I REALLY have too much tea. I’ll just have to keep drinking!
