Tried mine for the first time today. Had some issues. I am not rating until I give it another go. Was not user error – I read the instructions – watched the video ….
Not thrilled but giving it more time and more usage.
Will do full review when I am not exhausted – plus need to go get the tea stains out of my pants from the earlier disaster.
MEH.

Yeah… I have washed some things twice, including an antique doily to try and get the tea out from my accident with the ingenuiTea…But at least I know mine was operator error. :) Hope you get the hang of it and like it.

Sweet Canadian

I’m thinking of getting one of these so keep me updated Azzrian. I looked at the smaller one today. I want a decent glass travel mug.

Lynxiebrat

I hope it works out in the long run, Azzrian:)

Azzrian

Thanks everyone! Nicole – I hope your antique doily came out clean.
I read about your operator error – yikes I would probably do the same thing lol
Sweet Canadian – I will keep you posted … for the full price point I paid I am not too excited about it but it was recently on sale I would not get one at full price if you can grab one on sale.
I do have several issues with it though but as I said in fairness to the product I want to try it again.
But one thing is for sure, unless you like your tea barely warm, its not worth it.

Kasumi no Chajin

be safe about it…hot liquids, glass, fatigue…looking forward to the update.

Sweet Canadian

I have a timolino I use all the time, so having one that keeps it super hot isn’t something that is a must for me. I usually end up drinking it right away. I want to get a bigger mug that I can use on days I want more tea.

Azzrian

I would absolutely get the larger size then. This is quite small in my opinion.

Sweet Canadian

I found a shop here that sells the large size so I went ahead and got one! I think it will be a great addition to my travel mugs, because I usually use a Timolino, so I can throw the timolino in my bag on days that I am at school long hours for later, and drink out of the Libre right away.

Whiskey Buzz

I had a defect initially but they sent a replacement and it’s amazing!

I love my Libre.
I really, really do.
To be completely honest, I hardly use it as a travel glass.
I have had it about a year now, and its main usage is to brew my tea when I am at home.
It brews exactly the right amount of tea for my favorite mug.
I love the fact that you just add the tea right to the glass and when you pour the water in the leaves have lots of room to float around and be free.
Then when the leaves have been spent, just rinse with a little water and you are ready to brew again:)
I did a review earlier of the Bodum Tea for One, and I do very much like it, but the Libre will always be my favorite.

it’s so pretty, so pretty. I want to love it, I do love it, but it’s got flaws.
Pros: SO PRETTY, especially with a gorgeous loose tea floating in there, i get a lot of people asking about it, it’s really almost a tea fashion accessory.
Love the size, and the fact that the inner is glass.
UPDATE!
Mine was defective and the company sent a replacement which is working like a hot damn! This is with me at ALL times so I’m happy to have it without having a matching coloured tea stained shirt! Thank you Libre!
Canadian company is a huge pro, as is the holographic lid of gorgeousness. REALLY love the look of it.

Cons: Doesn’t keep tea hot for very long
expensive. I hummed and hawed over this for 2 years before buying it finally, I default to it only if I’m drinking something pretty. I’m shallow.

I have one of these and love it. Although I mostly use mine for cold shaken matcha. If you are going to flip it upside down to brew, I found that you have to let the water cool a bit first. ie, pour the boiling water in and wait about 1-2 minutes before you put the lid on and turn it upside down.

Whiskey Buzz

ooh thanks! I will keep that in mind!!

I seriously love Libre. My first bookkeeping job was with Libre Tea and having seen some of the inner workings only makes me love it more. The owner of the company is one of the reasons I’ve fallen so hard for tea. I’d go up to the office and she’d bring me some loose leaf peppermint tea in one of these beautiful little Libre glasses and it made learning the ins and outs of the job all the more enjoyable.

Now that the rest of my family is catching up with tea, all of them are getting more use out of their Libre glasses. As someone who doesn’t like to oversteep tea even a little bit, I haven’t tried putting the leaves in the bottom of the glass and drinking through the strainer. I prefer just to steep and remove. But this glass is perfect for that. Minimal leakage, very hardy(I’m a dropper, I can’t help myself) and I’ve had no problems with my tea not being warm. I will always recommend this glass and this company!

This is a really pretty travel glass. Beautiful gold accents on the lid! My co-worker had one and I felt I needed to get one too. These clear travel glasses are great for showing off pretty teas with lots of colours and flower bits.

It came with an extra rubbery washer, which was nice. Lightweight too.
Keeps tea decently hot, but not as great as a stainless steel mug or a 100% double glass mug would. The mesh is pretty fine and kept even rooibos chips away.

Unfortunately my Libre leaks. If I get tea on the top past the strainer area it will leak. And once I tried the alternative steeping method (put tea in the lid and invert the glass) and it leaked and burnt my fingers in the process. My coworker went through 2 of these travel glasses and hasn’t had a problem with leaks, so maybe I got a dud.

I’m considering getting another one as there is a larger size. More tea capacity!!!!

It’s good to hear that you like your Libre :) Not so great that it leaks. Have your tried the spare seal for the filter to see if this stops the leaking? Please email us at info@libretea.com and we will help.

mine leaks too!

I only got my Libré Tea infuser mug a little over a week ago and no word of a lie, I’ve probably used it over 50 times. I love the clever idea and how it is very calming watching the loose tea leaves float around my glass. I haven’t had any problems with tea coming through the strainer and it hasn’t leaked at all for me. I keeps your tea quite warm as well. My only complaints is that when you turn it upside down, then put it right side up again, and the open it, there is still a large amount of liquid that stays above the strainer and takes a minute to strain back down. This isn’t anyone’s fault, but just a tip to everyone to give it a second so that you don’t spill on yourself. The other thing is that the little gold emblem on the lid, tends to move around under the plastic top. This doesn’t normally bother me but sometimes it gets really off-centre. Lastly, and this one is my fault, the outside has gotten quite a few little scratches because I usually carry the mug around in my purse. They are not overly noticeable, but if you want your glass staying in pristine condition, I suggest not tossing it in your bag.

All in all, great product. I recommend it to every person who drinks tea, coffee, hot chocolate, etc. When I’m finished with my tea, I rinse it out and use it as my water bottle for the day. And I don’t even taste the tea in my water.

I bought the large mug specifically for Rooibos teas or herbals where you can leave the leaves brewing for an extended period of time. I love that the filter strains the Rooibos when I am drinking it. I have never had any problem with the rooibos passing through the filter. I have tried brewing the tea the alternate way (by putting it in the filter and tipping it upside down after the required cooling period) and have gotten occasional leaks. I contacted the company and they have been very helpful with hints etc and even offered to send me a new seal! I am still not sold on the inverting method of brewing the tea in this mug—by the time the hot water cools to the point that i can invert it my black tea doesn’t seem to brew nicely; however it is great for brewing my rooibos. I use the mug everyday!

I have had my tea glass for probably 6yeas or longer now and I love it! When I first got my glass I remember I took it outside in -30 weather and it broke which I thought was odd cuz it’s such a high rated glass. right away libra sent me anew one and apologized for the other one breaking great custom service!

A lovely idea but the execution leaves something to be desired. Firstly, I am very particular about plastic and other chemicals getting into my tea and foods and what drew me to to this item at first was the glass interior. There is plastic in the construction of the lid and middle layer but at the time of my purchase these elements were made of polypropylene, which I deemed acceptable as it is one of the safer plastics. When cracks started forming in my first Libretea however, the company sent me a replacement with a changed design. During the intervening time, they had switched from using polypropylene to tritan, a plastic that is advertised as “BPA free” but which studies have shown to contain other chemicals with estrogenic effects similar to BPA. Don’t trust the “BPA free” buzzword, there are plenty of other chemicals in plastic that can cause harm, in many cases you are simply trading BPA for a different poison.

Secondly, as I mentioned before the first item I recieved developed some problems after use, with small cracks/lines appearing on the plastic side near the border between the plastic and glass. I have not used the replacement I was given since learning the plastic has been replaced by tritan so I do not know if this problem still persists.

Lastly, while the turn upside-down to steep idea is a good one, the steeping chamber itself is on the small side compared to the size of the thermos itself, making it difficult for some teas to expand. If you are dead-set on the idea of turning your travel mug upside down to steep, I would instead suggest one of the double-tiered glass travel mugs from china that one can find on ali-express. The steeping chambers for said items are made from plastic, but that too is the case with this product as well.

Great product and great company. Fedex lost my tea infuser and Libre Tea made sure I got a replacement, plus an additional item for my trouble. I have since gotten a friend and a family member an infuser as gifts, all with great responses.
