My dad just gifted this tea to me. Honestly, it’s tasty, but artificial anything triggers some headaches.

Basically this tea is like drinking a liquid cinnamon heart. It warms your insides! Not bad but it’s almost too cinnamony… I prefer when chais have a little more complexity. I will have to try it with milk too, for now I’ve just added a few pieces of rock sugar

I’ve had a sample of this sitting in my cupboard for longer than I care to admit. I finally decided to open up the package and try it. Though the directions say to use the entire packet in one cup that is WAY too much for me and I easily was able to divide it into 2 flavorful (and pre-sweetened) cups.

I read reviews on here that compared the cinnamon taste to sucking on a Red Hot candy or chewing a Big Red cinnamon gum. That’s it. There’s no other way to explain the taste. I’ll be finishing off the last of this sample but there’s no way I’d ever purchase this. I have way too many better-tasting chais I can chose over this.

Not usually a teavana fan, but, this was hot and ready to sample while I walked by the store. I was sold on the blend, so bought a small amount of both to combine at home. It’s tasty, warm, and I think best with a little spoonful of sugar.

I don’t know how long I’ve had this sample. That’s what I get for not logging samples into the spreadsheet, sigh. Latte again this morning as I thought all the spices in here would be to much for me. I think this turned out wonderful. I was worried. I am having to use tea bags as my tea collection isn’t fully unpacked and I don’t know where the rest of my gear is yet. The steeped cup of this with 2tsp of the tea didn’t look all that dark and I was worried the addition of a little over a cup of milk would drown everything out. It turned out quite pleasant! The main flavor I am getting is cinnamon but there is something else hanging out with it that I can’t quite pick out, maybe the cardamom or the pepper? I don’t get any of the pineapple or papaya. Overall, I think this would be great for lattes in the near fall.

I received this sample from 2 people whom I recently swapped with :) I have been hunting down a strong Chai tea that I sampled a few years ago at Teavana and after having my afternoon cuppa, I realize that this was it!!

I enjoyed this strong-aroma tea served hot with a splash of milk and agave syrup. It filled my car with cardamom, cloves and cinnamon so much that when I arrived at my destination, someone complimented me on my “spicy perfume” :) I have several cups of this left to enjoy. Will definitely be purchasing this come fall time!

Thanks again for the swaps.

Try blending this with a strong black, maybe a darjeeling. about 2/3 black tea, to 1/3 of this.

From Ost’s stash sale. Thank you!

So, I picked out the rock sugar from this one and tried it two different ways. Once with milk, and once without. I think my conclusion is that most chai just tastes lacking to me without a black base. This would maybe be nice as an apple chai or something, but as is it doesn’t really interest me. It mostly tastes like sweet cinnamon, which is pleasant enough, but it’s just a bit boring. I think it would have been overwhelmingly sweet with the rock sugar, so I’m glad I picked that out.

I have 2 of these in sample form and decided to make a chai concentrate with them, which turned out really bad.

First off, the samplers had rock sugar in it. The first ingredient is sugar actually! I picked out weighed the rock sugar and it was 10g out of 28g tea weight. I couldn’t find any oolong in this tea, but there was lots of mate and rooibos.

I steeped this tea really strong, in a big batch, then poured it over soy milk. YUCK. There was just too much going on, the mate added a grassy bitter swampy flavor and it wasn’t that spicy.

Sickly sweet, this tea just tastes like cheap cinnamon candy. This was the sample that Teavana tosses into every order. The amount of rock sugar they use is appalling. The big hunks can’t dissolve, and turn this mix into undrinkable sludge. I couldn’t tell if there was oolong in my sample, there was so much going on.

Teavana, you might as well just hand out samples of your rock sugar, and not waste what could be okay-ish tea.

Into the trash you go, demon!

not many teas require an exorcism! ;)

I felt the same way about this one. Who knows, it might even have been decent, but with all that sugar we’ll never know.

I like sweet tea and even I thought this was too sweet as well!

I really like the combo sans sugar, though I prefer their old blend of the white ayurvedic chai and samurai chai mate more. They all have a mostly cinnamon stick single-note quality to them, but the Maharaja chai most of all. At that point, why blend it at all with another chai?

All of this, of course, is contingent on very little or no sweetener. It is weird with all that sugar. I actually will use the packet, meant for 16oz (I hope not 8!), and make 32oz. It is still super sweet, but flavorful. You aren’t likely to taste any oolong here though – I am just a cinnamon junkie. :)

I cast you out, unclean spirit!

But seriously, I wanted to give this sample a chance. I brewed almost 4 cups out of that sample. 1 oz of tea for only 32oz? That’s nuts. I drink tea like I read my books. No matter how bad it is, I have to finish the cup. This was one of the rare times I actually had to spit out the tea and toss it. No. Just no.

Although I haven’t been a fan of Teavana’s newer Chai teas, I still really enjoy several of their older blends, including this one. I got a free sample with my recent order and although it’s sweetened with rock sugar and I typically prefer my tea unsweetened, I am enjoying it anyway. It’s spicy but not too spicy, good without milk, and has just enough caffeine to be a good afternoon pick-me-up. Keep the free samples coming, Teavana!
