From Teavana

Maharaja Chai Oolong & Samurai Chai Maté intermingle to form a blend that is bold in flavor and rich in heritage. Ginger, cinnamon, black peppercorn, cloves, & nutmeg harmoniously balance with sweet notes of pineapple, papaya & star anise. Spicy and rich, this sweet Ayurvedic blend combines oolong, maté and green rooibos in a wealth of flavor.

I am not a fan of teavana, as they overcharge and upsell into oblivion. However, this tea. THIS TEA. It’s so good. Spicey, slightly sweet.. I don’t even know what spices I can tase, they all blend into one, sharp-on-the-tongue spice. I love this with a bit of sugar.

It’s been quite a while since I’ve had a proper Chai, aside from your typical lazy Starbucks lattes.

This sample came with my first Teavana Holiday order of 2013, a blend seemingly replacing the much lauded Samurai Chai Mate & White Ayurvedic Chai Blend.

In a lot of ways, this blend is quite similar to the latter, as they are both chai/chai blends, both come from Teavana, and both leaves contain the much potent lemongrass and tropical fruity scents.

I am actually quite curious about this sample blend, as I have had both of these teas individually before.

These leaves are much darker than the Chai Mate & White Ayurvedic blend, with a significantly consistent spicy kick added.

I do quite enjoy brewing a handsomely dark and rich Chai, especially one that emphasizes full spices next to it’s bright textures.

Teavana may have added a bit too much rock sugar, but that could also be because Maharaja Chai Oolong does not need rock sugar as it is seemingly sweetened already.

Nonetheless, the expectedly rich spices deliver with a full bodied Oolong and tropical Mate blend, which reminds me of ginger beer.

Teavana seem to know what does and does not work with blends of their premium teas, and this blend surely and soundly works.

The spices and sugar are over-powerful. I grimaced each time I took a sip. There might as well be no oolong, mate, or roobois in here.

Oh teavana. Why must you put more sugar than tea in the samples you include in your online orders??

It was so sickeningly sweet, it overpowered everything else. Except the overpowering cinnamon. I’d like to try this without all the needless sugar.

Quite a while ago, I purchased some Maharaja Chai Oolong. I took one sip and knew that my mom would love this tea, as she is always craving hot tamales and big red gum (I hate big red gum), so I gave it to her.

But alas, I received this sample and had to give it another go. For me, the sweetness helps me tolerate the overwhelming cinnamon taste. But like other reviewers, I feel this is the tea’s downfall. I don’t understand why they used the balance of spices they did, but then again I feel that that is mainly the Maharaja Chai that is overpowering. I’ve never tried the Samurai Chai alone, although I have heard a lot of positive things about the Samurai/Ayurvedic chai blend. Try that one if you’re looking for a good chai blend. Otherwise, if you love Big Red gum, you will love this.

I got this in the mail as a free sample with my order, and I love it!!! I love how pronounced the cinnamon and cloves are. I don’t taste any of the candid fruits, but that’s alright. I normally don’t like chai teas, but this one is amazing. I like it hot, with a bit of sugar added. I haven’t tried it cold yet.

I recently received this tea in the mail as a sample…and I love it. I would say this is possibly my favorite tea. I was quite surprised to see the rock sugar in there, but I liked it. I sweeten all of my teas, so it was nice the sweetener was already mixed in. It was also nice because I pulled out a piece of the rock sugar and tasted it, and it had really soaked in that cinnamon taste. Very good job on this one Teavana. I will be purchasing this with my next order.

I had this tea with soy milk and steeped it on the stove; I mixed in various spices and added a bit of sweetner. This tea is absolutely amazing to have and make a home-made latte with; it’s spicy and exotic and everything about it transports me to a different world all together. Such a wonderful tea.

Forever crushed that this doesn’t exist anymore. I just finished an 8oz container and am down to my last one. Yes, it has too much stuff in it (mostly cinnamon though), and yes it can be too sweet, but it’s just so warm all the time and dependable and SCREW YOU STARBUCKS FOR BUYING OUT TEAVANA STORES.
