I had the bagged version of this the first time I tried it and went back and noticed that I gave it a 45…see addition notes…ANYHOW…
This time I am trying this loose leaf and I must say there is a HUGE difference.
I really like this loose leaf version!
It’s flavorful and refreshing…minty and mango-E, Comforting and thirst-quenching! It says there is ginger root in it but I’m not tasting much which is fine by me but I can taste everything else and it’s yummy.
So…I’m changing this rating…it’s purely based on the loose leaf version…I’m still not thrilled about the bagged version of this…but Loose Leaf ROCKS!

Tasting Notes:
Dry Leaf Smell: peppermint, mango, licorice, sweet
Steeped Tea Smell: licorice, mint, ginger, hints of sweet
Flavor: bitter (not a surprise with how badly over steeped it is), minty, light ginger taste
Body: Medium/Full
Aftertaste: bitter and minty with hints of sweet
Liquor: translucent orange-brown

I blame Steepster for my oversteeping of tea, so much to read I forgot about the tea steeping under my nose! the 3 minutes became 20 since the application didn’t beep.
NOTE: The Tea Forte iPodTouch application will STOP when the screen saver kicks in and hence STOP counting and then doesn’t beep. I believe this is a failure of the iTouch itself to not be able to mutli-task and auto suspending everything when it locks up. To help with this issue in the future I changed my auto lock to 5 minutes instead of 1.
For all I butchered the preparation of this tea it is refreshing and nice. I don’t taste the mango though. The peppermint ginger is really interesting and fresh.

The Teavana iPodtouch/iPhone app doesn’t stop and does sound an alarm…if it’s the iPod Touch with built in speaker (anything other than the first model brought out 2.5-3 years ago). I use the Teavana app on my phone and the timer lets you use pre sets or set your own times.
i have cough 7? different tea timing applications, including teavana – i try to match the tea company to the app to give the tea it’s best chance – i should write a review on all the free ones

Nice, who else makes tea timers? I’ve only seen knock off tea timers not made by tea companies. But I suppose I haven’t really searched.

For a specific tea timer,e.g., teaforte, are there only times for their teas? are there general/popular teas that teaforte doesn’t have loose but are provided steeping times or is it specific to teaforte teas only?

I am making flora herbal tea
I open the application and click;
Teas – Herbal – Flora – Timer – Set Steep Time
I could have short cut the process and when I opened the application clicked;
Timer – Herbal – Set Steep Time
However I get there I am told;
For infusers: 1 infuser, 5-7 min 208
for loose tea: 1 tsp per cup, 5-7 min 208
Click “Set Steep Time”
Then I am presented with “7:20” which I can then adjust, and I do adjust it to “5:00” and click “Start Steeping”
(all timers really are for any tea you like, company specific ones just are nice to tell you what kind of tea the tea you have is)
This is the first of three samples I received that I am trying from Tea Forte.
I love Tea Forte’s packaging for their bagged teas. They are in a nylon/mesh bag, with a bendable leaf that sprouts out of the top of the bag (which allows you to hook it over your cup while steeping).
The leaves look to be a good size within the teabag, and they have room to unfurl once the water hits them. I steeped this cup in 170F water for two and a half minutes. The wet leaves have a hint of sweetness to them, but I’m not getting much else in the aroma.
Green Tango steeps up a bright marigold with a greenish tinge. Getting the slightest sweetness to the taste with a bit of hay on the aftertaste. This is a very subtle tea. The cup finished quickly, but nothing memorable in drinking this. I’m not sure if I’d purchase this tea, but I certainly wouldn’t refuse a cup from a friend.
Did you receive the samples from the company or did someone send it to you? If it was the former, mind sharing with us how? :)
I wish it was from the company directly. It was from a box of miscellaneous samples from a tea review blog “its all about the leaf” that I’m finally getting around to reviewing teas from. I’m a procrastinator :(

Steeped in a Tea Forte Café Cup, with the spent tea pyramid resting on a Tea Forte tea tray, all the pieces were set to provide an enjoyable tasting experience of this mango flavoured green tea. Impeccable as always, the packaging of this individual tea pyramid infuser bag was clean and sharply presented. After heating the water to the proper temperature, I proceeded to steep the tea for only two minutes before moving on to tasting it. The aroma is light, and the mango smell is lighter yet. My guess would be that the green tea base is a sencha or something akin to it.
The tea itself has light forward notes with a strong finish. The mango is present but not very prominent. Overall the tea is not very impressive in its taste. Not wanting to judge it by first try, I steeped a second cup. This time, I left the tea pyramid in the water for three minutes. The mango flavour is now a lot bolder and broader. It complements the green tea far more than during the first infusion.
Overall, I think this is not one of Tea Forte’s better blends. However, for lovers of fruit flavoured green teas, it may be worth giving this one a try. On my personal enjoyment scale, I would rate it a 76/100.
This is my 3rd free loose tea sample (our of 3) from Tea Forte and I think it is my favorite of the 3 so far. It definitely tastes of mango and there is some minty coolness to it too. The smell is peachy. I do wish it were a little stronger as it is on the edge of being bland. It’s ok though.

I used more than the normal recommended amount of loose leaf and thought it was quite flavorful. I also thought there was a hint of lemon, as well…lol…
I used the whole packet in the Kati.
OH!!! Goodness! Well…maybe mine was just stronger? LOL – I LIKE ’em STRONG! LOL

This is one that I hadn’t tried before from Tea Forte. It has a nice mango flavor – although it isn’t incredibly strong. The green tea is smooth and mellow and really pleasant as an after dinner cuppa. A nice buttery finish.
Second time trying this. The first time was months ago so any bias I had is gone.
First sip was nice and it did seem sweet and fruity and then it begins this descent into bitterness. Something about the way the flavoring agents interact make this tea work while hot… and degrade continually over time. Through the bitter buttery green tea flavor makes it through which is nice… except for the growing bitter.
The more I sip I think that the tea is astringent for a green which might be compounding the bitter problem. Did I mention it’s a little bitter?
Weird note:
Look at the infuser before you put it in the cup gauging how much the leaves are filling the infuser…. and then notice how much the leaves expand by the time it is done brewing… just wow. Greens I haven’t really ever noticed expanding like that as this reminds my of an Oolong amount of growth. NEAT!
I’m brewing a second cup for less time to see if it will be less bitter in the end with cooler water and shorter steep time…
And it remains bitter. The taste isn’t I burned my tea bitter though it is more of a citrus acid as a flavoring agent bitter. An orange that hasn’t hit ripe so it has that super acidy bitterness.
I had one bag of this and I blew it. First I got impatient and didn’t wait for the water to cool enough. Then I forgot about it and let it steep for too long, but not by much. Plus, I have had this for a long time and I was only going to drink it to get rid of it since I am doing a bit of decluttering, shifting, and repurposing for the holidays.
Even oversteeped this isn’t bitter, but it also isn’t very good. I seem to only like really REALLY good greens. I am not getting much mango, and that is probably because of the age of this bag.
I will just have to look forward to my upcoming pot (pots) of black tea with Sandy later today.
Thank you Tea Forte for the samples and the kati cup system. Backlogging Dry this smells like mango and peppermint. I steeped this for a short time because of the green tea. This tastes like mango with some peppermint and some green tea and abit of green honeybush. I did not taste the ginger though. I think this is really good and I think the combo of the mango and peppermint is interesting.
