9 Tasting Notes
I usually throw away the first wash of teas and start drinking from the second steeping, but I didn’t do that with Zealong Aromatic and it was a good move: I love its aroma and taste, which include almond and some other fruits I can’t distinguish exactly, maybe green apple (without being sour though), but I think a lot of the taste goes away after the third brew :( I tried until the 5th wash, increasing the steeping time up to a little more than 2 minutes and I still got a nice taste but quite a watery tea.
Preparation
I have received this tea yesterday straight from Zealong Company in NZ, so it is not the “Chicago Tea Garden” one but I thought there was no point to add another tea to Steepster as we are talking about exactly the same product.
I have waited the special time to enjoy it as I have been so much enthusiastic to get it and finally this afternoon the great time has come!
I have followed the instructions on the package and infused 5 gr. in 150ml of water for 1 minute … nice!!! I steeped it in the Zealong white ceramic cup with strainer and the colour was a light yet bright yellow, so inviting. This tea has a nice aroma and a full-bodied and multi-layered taste: grassy, with hints of chestnut to start with and then sweeter: the after taste in my mouth while I was waiting for the second steep clearly reminded me of apple, green apple. The second and third wash have been good as well, also the fourth even though the latter, still giving a bright yellow colour, has lost a little of the flavour. The package says you can steep this tea up to 6-7 times, I am not sure considering the fourth but when I will have some time I will definitely try to do that.
The first approach with this tea from New Zealand has been extremely positive, I am looking forward to trying the other 2 types I have received: “Aromatic” and “Dark”.
Preparation
I was craving an iced tea and decided to go for this one, nicely prepared in the Tea Forte’s iced tea brewing pitchers: I added a little bit of sugar syrup on the second glass to taste the difference but it was perfect even without it, tasty yet not too sweet, with the right balance of ginger and pear. It is indeed a very good refreshing option for summer time!
Preparation
I had this tea for the second time and I confirm my previous note about it, except for one thing: this time I remembered to steep the tea a second time but the second wash was not tasty at all, still a nice color but tasting so watery :(
I had other Jasmine Silver Needle teas of good quality before and I could wash the leaves for 3-4 even 5 times, still getting a good liquor.
This tea has been my very first experience with Jing Tea and I have brewed the version in the tea bag, for 2 minutes. I drunk it in a small double wall glass cup, to fully enjoy the colour. The aroma had a hint of sweet that I could not identify (fruity), the same for the pleasant after taste of the liquor. The balance between jasmine and tea was absolutely perfect. Very tasty but light at the same time, this tea has been the ideal choice for a relaxing break with hubby after lunch. I regret i didn’t try a second steep as we only have 1 more bag to enjoy!
Preparation
I love this herbal tea, the initial perfume coming out of the holed lid of Solstice teapot by Tea Forté ALWAYS reminds me of Crème brûlée / Crema Catalana so I am already in the right mood before starting sipping it. Then this strong vanilla perfume diminishes and even the taste reveals the other ingredients. I like to have my teas plain as much as possible, but I love to add some milk or a little bit of sugar to this one.
No need to remove the leaves from the pot, the infusion doesn’t get bitter.
Preparation
I have used the pyramid infuser and only steeped it for a little less than 2 minutes, I think it was enough as the color is not pale and the taste is not weak, but I need to concentrate on my sip completely if I want to find out the ingredients mentioned on the packaging, a part from citrus.
Preparation
I had tried this tea a long while ago and wished to refresh my mind because recently, when drinking green teas, I have mostly chosen China Gunpowder. I steeped it (pyramid infuser) for less than 3 minutes as I don’t like over steeped green teas at all, and I guess it is enough as the color is nice, it is very tasty as well. There is a very slight hint of mango (its scent is stronger than its taste), the green tea’s flavor still prevails, which is what I expected otherwise it would have been more of a fruit infusion than a tea. It seems to have different layers of taste because when I sip it it is a little bit bitter, the after taste is not bitter at all and it is at the end that the fruity taste comes out more.
