This mugged me. It’s so smoky for me that it reminds me of a barbecued pig, i finished the cup I made, but since, it’s been sitting on the shelf collecting dust, perhaps I will try it again someday…

Aw that’s a shame, you might be better off trying something a little less smokey.

You can also trade it in the discussions area for something more to your taste. That is what I did (more to trade for Thomas Sampson rather than because I didn’t like it – I hadn’t tried it yet – but some people LOVE it and you will get something you like more too!

Dan

While I love this tea, I can certainly see why others do not. Have you tried lowering your steeping time? It should cut down some of the smokiness.

Every time I have this it reminds me of Coca-Cola sans the nasty sweetness and carbonation.

That sounds interesting! I’ve never heard of a tea tasting like soda, accept for flavored teas that are deliberately made to do so.

Thank you GOD! Tonight when I prepared this tea, I was very meticulous. I pulled out the tea scale, thermometer and the spring water. I waited for the water to come down from 93 C to 85C (I live in CO, so H2Obp is 93ish) and poured the water into my vessel so the leaves floated for a bit before being completely submerged. As I was pouring, the aroma was creamy, like pie. Exactly three minutes later, I decanted and took my first sip. It was like dessert: sweet, smooth, like liquid candy.
I never want to run out of this, but I cannot wait to drink more tomorrow =)

I love it when people find tea they love. It makes me giddy. Whee!

I would say the description of this tea is dead on, except for the tinge of jasmine I am getting. I don’t like jasmine. I’m giving this a low rating for MY reference.

Today was another long day in the laboratory. I was excited to come home to some new teaware. I received the Tea Forte Kati double walled ceramic tea brewing cup-thing. I decided to make some oolong and this came to mind.
It tastes like lentils and that’s all I have to say.

Interesting log entry. Do you mean lentils dry, boiled plain or something like a spiced dahl? I would love to know as I like the dry and dahl scents very much.

I would say it tastes like how wet lentils smell.

This is interesting. I believe this is the second pot I’ve drank of this tea. When I brought the cup to my mouth it had the familiar scent of genmaicha and marijuana- no pun intended. It’s subtly sweet and is very smooth.

drank Almond Cookie by SpecialTeas

Last night my partner and I had a “date night” 60 miles from our home. All day I had been waiting for this tea parcel to arrive, but I knew it wouldn’t be delivered until the evening. After having indulged James’ affinity for microbrews, we were back on the road home. Pulling up the drive, I saw a quaint package sitting on our porch and my excitement was stoked. After having unloaded our purchases, I quickly ripped open my desideratum.
The dry leaves evinced my grandma’s almond cookies—okay, my grandma never made cookies, she made sopaipillas, but regardless, it was an olfactory orgasm.
I made a pot in the Beehouse pot I had bought earlier in the day.
The liquor was creamy, ripe with almond flavor and filling— I was sated.
I think it was worth the restless night to have tasted this delightful tea.

Nice Yunnan, good creamy body, not as sweet as Golden Yunnan from Rishi.
