English Toffee Black Tea

Yeah, that about covers it.

Buttery rich and with a lovely burnt-sugar flavor underneath… a really delightful English Toffee blend. This tastes like English Toffee that has been dissolved in a cup of black tea. Sweet, rich and delicious.

This one was too light on flavoring for my tastes. The dry scent was quite chocolaty for some reason, despite this not being a chocolate tea.

I do get a hint of chocolate in the taste as well, sort of a low quality milk chocolate vibe. There is some caramel as well, though I certainly wouldn’t call it toffee. It lacks butteriness, and is more of a sweet caramel, perhaps with a hint of vanilla.

Mostly though, I taste the black base. It’s not a bad black tea, it’s smooth and has some rich earthy notes. But it’s not something I would want to drink plain, so I feel like it needed stronger flavoring to spruce it up.

Happy to be finishing off some of my older Simpson & Vail teas though, as I just got a huge haul from them… ^^’

This is nice! Not quite as sweet and caramelly as I would have expected, but a very pleasant nutty flavor with a rich, malty base adding complexity. I did get just a tinge of bitterness in the aftertaste, but I’m not sure if that’s the tea itself or user error (I lost track of time and over-steeped by a minute or two). Overall, I’m quite impressed with these Simpson and Vail teas I’ve been sampling! I may have to finally break down and place an order with them one of these days…

I sipped this one a couple days ago. From my dessert sampler! This one is a little on the plain side, as it is simply black tea and flavoring. I can definitely tell that it is toffee, but not enough toffee flavoring for my tastes. The black tea in the base isn’t my favorite (it seems like or tastes like Ceylon). Maybe I didn’t use enough leaves or steep it the right way. Not the best from the dessert sampler. But it’s fine enough for a sweet tasting tea! So many delicious options from S&V though….

Another tea from Miss B! After the butterbeer disappointment I decided to try this one because in the words of Dumbledore, “I think I could be safe with a nice toffee” (I’m still watching Harry Potter). I tried this plain first and I could strongly taste the tea base along with a subtle buttery, slightly nutty taste. While I wouldn’t exactly say toffee, I did find it pleasant. I decided to resteep and try with sweetener to see if it brought the toffee taste out a little more. Unfortunately, all that accomplished was to hide the base tea. So, I added some milk and it became nicely and predictably creamier. I prefer this plain though. It was a good tea, but nothing that leaves a lasting impression.

Oooooh, I just love this! It’s not complex, or subtle, but the name says it all: English Toffee . It doesn’t even need sweetener, although I’m sure adding some would make it even better. MissB, thank you for sending! :)

Sipdown!

I’m working on clearing out samples and sipdowns to make room for the Della Terra order I’m getting later this week, plus some stuff from Dexter to try soon.

This one is quite tasty, and I like the subtle toffee notes here. I did add milk which may have melded the flavours a bit more.

I probably wouldn’t go out of my way to buy this one, but it is good, so thanks to OMGsrsly for the sample to try.
